Sysel, Marek ; Urbánek, Václav (advisor) ; Kubík, Rudolf (referee)
This thesis deals with the funding of universities in the Czech Republic. The primary objective is to evaluate the current funding system and highlight its shortcomings. The first part deals with the very meaning of higher education and sees it as a mixed public good. Mentions the reasons for that is socially and economically desirable to make higher education a sufficient amount of money and takes the benefits they derive from it the whole society, but also specific individuals. It focuses on the financing of private and especially public universities, state universities are mentioned only in passing. It also shows the development of higher education through selected graphs and statistics. Currently, schools financed mostly from public sources. This paper describes why this happens and discussed possible options of bringing higher education to the private sector and thereby improve their mutual cooperation. A relatively large part is reserved the issue of tuition fees and the current proposals.

Effectiveness analysis of actions taken by the American government and the FED during the financial crisis
Nemček, Sebastian ; Havlíček, David (advisor)
The financial crisis of 2007 -- 2009, which is considered to be the worst crisis since The Great Depression, has called for many bailout and stimulus programs in various countries to preserve stability of the financial and economic system. The American federal governments in cooperation with The Federal Reserve have carried out a vast amount of rescue programs and actions. The aim of this bachelor thesis is analyse selected steps that have been taken and examine their practical impacts and effectiveness. This will be done with a help of corresponding statistics and data and their evolution in time. With respect to a large amount and complexity of programs it is necessary to introduce focus, costs and benefits of these programs and with a contribution of own analyses and calculations explore the impact on real world data. Stabilization programs i.e. TARP have proven to be more effective in general than stimulative ones as ARRA or QE2. ESA and CARS were half-effective while HOPE being a complete failure.

Poláchová, Jana ; Válková, Helena (advisor) ; Matoušková, Andrea (referee)
The theme of my diploma thesis is the efficiency of the probation supervision of the system of justice. My aim is to inform wheather and in which way the probation supervision helps to reduce the risk of crime's relapse. This diploma thesis is divided into two parts. The first one is theoretical whereas the second one is practical. In the theoretical paragraph I explain the aims and reasons of probation supervision. The wide scope of taking advantages of this care is also mentioned. I describe all activities connected with the above. The pecularities of youngters's probation supervision are pointe dout, as well. Last but not least I inform about the course of the probation supervision and try to compare alternative sanctions to the imprisonment. A statistic survey of probation supervision in last few years makes a part of my thesis, too. The second part of my thesis is based on my practice in the centre of probation and mediation care. I mention the results of my research among the members of the working team in the above organisation and social worker's for youngsters and adults. I inform about their points of view of this care and connected probléme and thein cooperation. The next paragraph show the way of life of several clients of probation and mediation care. I inform about their situation, crime,...

Title: Qualitative analysis of cooperation of back court player and line player on the 9th Men's "18" European Championship in Brno. Objectives: Qualitative analysis of the attacking combinations between back court player and line player on the 9th Men's "18" European Championship 2008 in Brno, finding out the space distribution of these combinations and compare the trend analysis of Men's "18", Men's "20" and Men's European Championship. Methods: Qualitative Analysis of the matches on DVD with using non participating and non structured observing connected with quantitative analysis based on the statistical program Handball Stat. We used own form for recording the observed data. Results: The teams used combination based on passing mostly. The distribution of co-operation probably depended on physical, technical and tactical preparation of the back court players and through that the line player very often co-operated with left and middle back. Key words: handball, combination, co-operation, back court player, line player, qualitative analysis, 9th Men's "18"ECh 2008 Brno

Fyzikální modelování dynamiky peněz ve směnné ekonomice
Švarcbach, Jan ; Slanina, František (advisor) ; Kotrla, Miroslav (referee)
The presented diploma thesis belongs to the interdisciplinary area called econophysics. In this work we try to model the transition from simple barter trade to commodity money which was the forerunner of today's bank-notes. For the description of such a transition we use microscopic structure of interacting agents which can give rise to measurable macroeconomic quantities. We show that the emergence of commodity money is possible as a result of the cooperative behaviour of individual traders. We observe several statistical features of the process of money emergence and its duration and we modify the model in such a way that it would be as general as possible and allow us to measure other observable quantities. We supplement the computer simulations with analytical approach in which we use the mean field theory and the theory of a representative agent. Using the methods of statistical physics we calculate equilibrium for the case of the homegeneous distribution of commodities in representative agent's portfolio.

New Methods in Statistical Speech Recognition
Klusáček, David ; Hajič, Jan (advisor) ; Psutka, Josef (referee) ; Černocký, Jan (referee)
Title: New Methods in Statistical Speech Recognition Author: David Klusáček Department: Institute of Formal and Applied Linguistics (ÚFAL), Faculty of Mathematics and Physics in Prague, Malostranské náměstí 25, 118 00 Praha 1. Advisor: Prof. RNDr. Jan Hajič, Dr., Institute of Formal and Applied Linguistics. Abstract: This works aims to identify limits of contemporary speech rec- ognizers and tries to come up with methods that could push back the fron- tiers. After describing the state of the art, the weakest link of the chain has been identified in the acoustic front-end, especially when working in harsh acoustic conditions. NUFIBA front-end, the proposed solution, includes re- verb compensation and speaker/background segmentation as well as contin- uous SNR monitoring which, thru cooperation with acoustic model, hinders from avalanche spreading of recognition errors. Owing to the lack of time, only a phoneme recognizer was finally implemented, although large blocks of originally intended word-based continuous speech recognizer were implemented and tested (such as the MMI-class based language model).

Migration policies and security in Germany and the EU-border control dilemmas in the 21st century
Bürkl, Noémie ; Drulák, Petr (advisor) ; Kolenovská, Daniela (referee)
This thesis takes up the intimate link between migration realities and the necessity to ensure security on the territory of nation states. Unluckily, migration has the same effect as international terrorism, i.e. blurring the borders between an external and international security dimension. Therefore migration management is often understood as migration control. But the security dimension of migration gets sometimes too predominant, neglecting human rights of individual migrants. National policies are influenced by a wide range of actors within the society, who contribute to focusing the debate more on the integration rather than the control dimension, even if the majority of public opinion has anti-immigrant positions. Germany will provide the case study for analysing the national level. An economics, laws and politics triangle provides the basic analytical framework. The emergence of a securitised migration approach on the EU-level is linked to the willingness of member states to cooperate on this sensitive issue. Other cooperation processes occur outside the EU framework, but it is generally not less focused on security and control. Illegal migration is particularly outlined here, even if it is extremely difficult to get statistical data for scientific foundation. Criminal networks are also often...

The armies were chosen randomly according to their geographic locations considering the possibilities of transfer realization in winter conditions. Nine out ofeleven respondents filled in the questionnaire. As the participation in all army trainings would be time - consuming and unrealistic we chose a questionnaire, including 27 questions, to gather all the information. It was filled in by qualified army instructors. The data was processed bay means of descriptive statistics. Results: The result of this study proved that the Czech Army is capable of competing with other armies as for as training is concemed, mainly in the spheres of medical support, frequency of trainings and kitbag and materials. The Czech army is on the average level, in some spherer above-average. Regarding the legal support and the training guidance it is infinitely...
