Contamination in semiconductor fabrication
Fojtášková, Helena ; Salyk, Ota (referee) ; Čech, Vladimír (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with contamination in the production of semiconductor substrates. It focuses on the efficiency and optimization of wet cleaning processes for monocrystalline silicon and silicon carbide semiconductor wafers. The thesis includes a literature research in the field of semiconductor manufacturing, wafer contamination and wafer cleaning processes. The most commonly studied metal contaminants include iron, copper and nickel, due to their high diffusivity, and therefore these elements were chosen for the experimental part. In the experimental part, wafers were prepared by targeted contamination to verify the effectiveness of the cleaning processes. Contamination analysis was performed using the vapour phase decomposition method combined with inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (VPD-ICP-MS) for silicon wafers and total reflection X-ray fluorescence (TXRF) for silicon carbide wafers. Based on the measurement results, the efficiency of the washing processes was evaluated and a procedure for process optimization was recommended.

Mojrová, Barbora ; Kolařík, Vladimír (referee) ; Poruba,, Aleš (referee) ; Boušek, Jaroslav (advisor)
Tato dizertační práce je zaměřena vývoj a ověřování nových postupů přispívajících ke zvýšení účinnosti bifaciálních solárních článků založených na monokrystalickém křemíku n-typové vodivosti. Tato práce přináší nové poznatky o vylepšených výrobních procesech a postupech použitých během výroby článků v ISC Konstanz. V rámci práce byly vyrobeny solární články typu n-PERT (Passivated Emitter Rear Totally diffused) s vysokou účinností, a to pomocí standartních procesů a zařízení používaných běžně při průmyslové výrobě. Experimenty popsané v této práci dosvědčují zlepšení procesu difúze bóru, přizpůsobení parametrů pasivační a antireflexní vrstvy nově navrženému emitoru, zlepšení procesu metalizace ve smyslu využití past neobsahujících hliník, testování tisku rozličných motivů spolu s různými sekvencemi výpalu. V rámci práce byla testována možnost zamezení jevu potenciální indukované degradace (Potential Induced Degradation – PID) pomocí vhodného složení ARC a pasivační vrstvy. Vyrobené n-typové solární články dosáhly maximální hodnoty účinnosti 20,9 %.

This bachelor's thesis deals with wet anisotropic etching of silicon and germanium. Two different approaches to the formation of anisotropic etch pits are shown. The supporting activities required for etching procedure are described. Especially, preparation of mask by electron beam litography, etching of SiO2 resp. GeO2 and application of metal particles.
Photoluminescence diagnostic method with transmission illumination
Kafka, Martin ; Veselý, Aleš (referee) ; Vaněk, Jiří (advisor)
The aim of this diploma thesis is an innovation of photoluminescence measure research workplace for measurement of cells structure defects by method of transmissive illumination while employing the current methods of measurement of defect in the solar cells structure. The first part deals with explanation of historical development of solar energy, of how we can reach production of electric power with contribution of solar radiation and defines usability of solar cells in practice. The thesis further analyses a practical application of measurement via laboratory diagnostic methods used by Department of Electrotechnology Brno University of Technology. The second part is focused on mechanical design of experimental photoluminescence measure workspace used for quick diagnostic defects employing the rear arousing source for detection of defects with assistance of transmissive system of illumination. Finally, with co-operation of SOLARTEC s.r.o. three types of solar cells are measured by this new method and compared with results of measurement via diagnostic methods of LBIV (Light Beam Induced Current), LBIC (Light Beam Induced Voltage), Electroluminescence, Photoluminescence, and detection defects by radiation of Microplasma.
Growth of metastable fcc Fe thin films on Cu/Si(100) substrates
Horký, Michal ; Cháb, Vladimír (referee) ; Urbánek, Michal (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the preparation of epitaxially grown metastable paramagnetic Fe films alloyed by Ni on Cu/Si(100) substrates at RT. Molecular beam epitaxy of Cu(100) buffer layer was performed on H-Si(100) native SiO2 free samples treated by etching in HF or thermal treatment. The epitaxially grown Cu layers with thickness ranging from 50 up to 130 nm serves as suitable substrate for the deposition of 44-ML-thick paramagnetic Fe78Ni22. The film growth was taking place in CO atmosphere and as well as Ni it led to paramagnetic film stabilization. The structural and magnetic ion-beam-induced transformation of desired Fe-Ni structure was performed and propeties of irradiated films were characterized afterwards by MOKE. Then some specific patterns on Si(100) by e-beam litography were fabricated and they served as suitable matrix for Cu(100) buffer layer and paramagnetic Fe. Prepared Si(100), globally and locally deposited metal films were examined by LEED, XPS, AFM, AES, SEM a STM. The recorded results showed the possibility of paramagnetic films preparation on H-Si(100) where it was possible to make ferromagnetic patterns on paramagnetic background by irradiation of specific ion dose.
Microdefects in Czochralski Silicon
