This work concerns itselť with o ne oť the aspects oť the modernization oť Japan during the Meiji Era (1868-1912), the establishment oť a Civil Code based on western lega! princip les, in a broad context oť the historical and socio-political situation of the said period. First, it explores the state oť lega! knowledge in Japan at the end of the previous historical period, the Tokugawa Era. As a result of the development during the centuries prior to that, it may be said that the Japanese view oť law became to be such that the law was overshadowed by the traditional pattern oť a rigid social structure, preferring over law the mutual relations among the people living in such a system. Being ťorced to cancel her isolation policy by an extensive outside pressure ťrom the worlďs powers, Japan starts to strive for a general modernization. One of the prerequisites for the revision of these treaties was the establishment of a western-like lega! system with the Civil Code as one oť the important Codes of Law. However, the principles on which the Japanese and the western lega!...

Miššíková, Martina ; Josek, Jiří (advisor) ; Podaný, Richard (referee)
This study provides a description of the translation techniques applied to the translation of culturally significant phenomena in the Harry Potter series into Czech and Slovak. The analysis extends to the first three boo ks of the Harry Potter series by British author J. K. Rowling and their translations into Czech and Slovak. The theoretical framework is derived from the views of Finnish scholar R. Oittinen (2000) on the translation of children's literature; the translation techniques used to analyze the translations are taken from Molina&Albir (2002). Chapter 1 discusses Harry Potter from the point of view of literary theory. It reviews the different traditions (Anglo-American, Czech, Slovak) in defining and describing fantasy literature and fantasy for children. In the Czech and Slovak literary contexts, there is a tendency to view works similar to Harry Potter as fairy tales with fantastic elements. Chapter 2 reviews the field of translation studies with respect to translation of children's literature. It develops the thesis introduced by the skopos theory which views changes as an inherent part of the trans lati on proces s. Hence, in children' s literature, the changes needed to accommodate the target language reader are considered part of the translator' s strategy and a sign of the translator' s...

Přikrylová, Jana ; Písař, Pavel (advisor) ; Czesaný, Slavoj (referee)
The object of the Bachelor's work is to analyze the present position of the health insurance companies in the health system of the Czech Republic. First of all I characterize the particular health service systems existing in the world in my work. Further I am concerned with the health service system in this country, with its development, financing and, especially, with the role of the health insurance companies in this system. A special attention is devoted by me to the health insurance which is the main income of the health insurance companies; and to its redistribution. I analyze problems of the public health insurance system as well as of the health insurance companies. In a further part I deal with the health insurance system in U.S.A. where the health insurance is voluntary and therefore it is set up on a commercial base, whereas the public general health insurance in CR is compulsory. I compare advantages and disadvantages of the health service systems in CR and U.S.A. and on base of this analysis I will prove that the Czech medical service is instable economically; that it comes to wasting as the patient has no choice to choose the care according to the quality and price; it comes to reduction of the availability of medical services; the patients have no possibility of paying extra money for a service of higher quality even if they have enough money for that. At the end on the basis of the analysis of functioning of both these systems I indicate which way the reform of the medical service in this country could proceed.
