Product placement v časopisech zaměřených na ženy z generace Y

This bachelor’s thesis includes product placement in magazines focused on women of the Y generation. The main task of this thesis is to investigate the influence of product placement in women's fashion magazines especially on shopping behaviour of readers. With the help of the eye-tracking technology and in-depth interviews were found results that influence the Y generation's attitude to the researched issue, which suggested some recommendations for product placement clients in women's magazines.
The role of proofreading in modern media

Bachelor's thesis "Proofreading and its role in today's media on the example of the magazine Respekt" consists of two parts. The first theoretical section mainly focuses on the definition of key concepts, proofreading work, conventions, and rules concerning interventions into the texts. It also attempts to put the change of the profession into the historical context, which is mainly related to the rapid technical development of the polygraphic industry. The practical section subsequently analytically verified readers' satisfaction with the level of linguistic competence of the magazine Respekt through a questionnaire. Following the results of the questionnaire that indicated worsening quality proofreading of ten selected issues from the years 1997, 2007 and 2017 was made to assess whether there have been any changes concerning the level of linguistic competence. This thesis attempts to put uncovered shortcomings both into the context of the era and the editorial work of the analysed media. On the occasion, language editor Petra Švehlová directly from magazine Respekt was approached - she attempted to interpret and evaluate the acquired data. Proofreading that was made did uncover certain misconducts, however, did not confirm the initial hypothesis itself that was supported by the research mentioned...
Representation of contemporary times and changes of the literary speech at turn of the 19th and the 20th century in magazines Obzory and Moderní život.

The Bachelor thesis focus on analysis of two cultural magazines Moderní život and Obzory from the turn of the century. The focus is on the change of opinions on the significance of art and the literary value within the perception of contemporary artistic movements and styles. Our thesis is marginally devoted to artistic context of the beginning of the 20. century and the description of selected authors. The main aim of thesis is the describtion of both periodicals, their general characteristics, description of columns and their orientation on art, analysis of selected articles and finally a summary of our findings and comparison.
Analysis and comparison of lifestyle magazines and their equivalents as the supplements of Czech journals

This bachelor thesis compares lifestyle magazines with lifestyle supplements of Czech newspapers based on quantitative analysis. The theoretical part is focused on the analysed media - it describes their history, current situation and briefly characterizes specific titles with focus on lifestyle. Part of the text deals with media commercialization, which, as a trend, undeniably belongs to present day's media. In addition to general definitions, advertising is discussed in more detail in relation to printed media and the tendencies to eliminate the boundaries between commercial and non-commercial content. The practical part consists of analysis of selected magazines and newspaper supplements. The researched material used is, in each case, three-month worth of issues of lifestyle magazines Elle and Harper's Bazaar as well as newspaper supplements Esprit LN and Proč ne?!. The objective of this analysis is to confirm or reject the hypothesis, that lifestyle magazines published in the form of free newspaper supplements include less editorial text and more advertisements and visual content than standalone lifestyle magazines.
Women's Magazines of Interwar Period

The main aim of the diploma thesis is to analyse selected women's magazines which were published between the years 1918-1938. The analysis of chosen articles published in selected magazines is based on the heuristics and interpretation. First part of the thesis is dedicated to description of the historical and cultural context of the interwar period, the social status of women in the society of First Czechoslovak Republic and to the development of women's emancipation. Second part of the thesis analyses the table of contents of chosen magazines with taking the cultural and social acquisition into the consideration.
Karel Cvejn, description and reception of his literary work and criticism

The aim of the thesis is to describe and analyse the regional publishing activities and literary criticism of Karel Cvejn, who worked in South Bohemia at the end of the 1920s and mainly during the 1930s. As this period was notable for its wide variety of social, political, and artistic views and schools of thought, a chapter with a brief overview of a historical and literary background related to South Bohemia has also been included as to make Cvejn's work perceivable in a broader context. In the following chapters, two periodicals of which Cvejn was the main editor have been analysed: a student magazine Gymnasion and a cultural and political quarterly called Jih. Within the subchapters, the concepts of these periodicals have been described, and, subsequently, Cvejn´s contributions into these periodicals have been analysed. Cvejn was also connected with South Bohemia because of his two collections of poems which are called Odjezdy and Slepec a včela. For this reason, one of the chapters of the thesis has been devoted to describing these works. The chapters dealing with the quarterly Jih and with Cvejn's poetry have been accompanied by contemporary reactions or reviews. The thesis also features a short summary of Cvejn's life and his further scientific activities no longer connected with South Bohemia.
The journal Omladina in historical context at the beginning of 20th century

This bachelor thesis deals with the thorough analysis of the various issues of the journal Omladina, which was published between 1903-1908 and during its five-year existence was first renamed Nová Omladina, later Komuna. In the theoretical part is highlighted historical and cultural impulses between 19th and 20th century, which had an impact on the content of journal. Attention is also focused on selected personalities from the ranks of responsible editors, publishers and literary active contributors. The practical part focuses on publishing informations, changes in publishing, literary and political contributions and significant cases illustrating the character of journal. The primary aim of this bachelor thesis is to research process the development of journal.
The Arbeiter Illustrierte Zeitung and its activity in exile in Czechoslovakia

This thesis presents the German magazine Arbeiter Illustrierte Zeitung (AIZ), one of the greatest illustrated papers at the time of Weimar Republic. The weekly was founded in the beginning of 1920s as a propaganda organ of the Workers' International Relief (Internationale Arbeiterhilfe, IAH), a mass organization formed to support workers in case of strikes or natural catastrophes. The founding of the magazine was entrusted to a communist activist and publisher Willi Münzenberg. Under his leadership the AIZ became the most popular left-wing illustrated magazine. It enforced socialism and fought to build a united anti-fascist front. AIZ collaborated with many prominent artists and writers, and its readers were attracted especially by the satirical photomontages of John Heartfield. After Nazi's took over Germany in 1933, AIZ exiled in Prague, where it continued its untiring fight against fascism and advocated the rights of the working class. In 1936, the magazine changed its name to Volks-Illustrierte in order to reinforce the united front movement. The transformation of Czech film and its critics in the Film a doba journal (90s)

The theme of the diploma thesis is the image of Czech film and its criticism in the post- revolutionary period. The view of Czech cinematography in the 1990s is showed by professional reflection in the magazine Film a doba, traditional periodical published since 1955. The analysis reflects the form of critical pieces and the state of Czech film under the influence of new possibilities and production conditions in 1990-1999. The development of Czech cinematography is illustrated in the theoretical part with the help of literature, essays and critics. The paper also finds an answer to the question of how domestic cinematography and its criticism used an opportunity for development and whether it was successful. The research also includes external influences such as the gradual development of multiplexis, the privatization of film studios and the interest in films by Czech viewers under the influence of foreign titles.
Journals Tarsicius and MINIPOST - content analysis and evaluation of the contribution to the formation of servant at the altar

The diploma thesis presents Tarsicius, a Czech magazine for altar servers, in comparison with its German counterpart MINIPOST. It comes with an analysis of the content of both periodicals - with a focus on individual sections and on the graphic aspect. On the basis of partial analyses and comparations it describes and evaluates the pastoral significance of both magazines for the formation of altar servers.
