The Factors of Competiveness of Companies in Engineering Industry
Částková, Barbora ; Potluka, Oto (advisor) ; Říčka, Tomáš (referee)
The thesis is called The Factors of Competiveness of Companies in Engineering Industry. I deal with the current situation in engineering, meaning of innovations in companies, the aspects which stimulate them and on the contrary limit them and the possibilities of various kinds of cooperation. The thesis explains the importance of regular analysis of situation of companies on the market, careful determination and fulfillment of the strategy and the operational effectiveness. According to the used resources the factors of competitiveness were determined. In the practical part I analyzed four companies from the surroundings of Ústí nad Orlicí which produce radiators, fittings, machines for textile industry and buses. From acquired information it is possible to say that these companies are competitive and they focus on innovations. I discussed the factors of competitiveness with the managers of engineering companies and I created the summary of the factors which influence prosperity of the engineering companies.

Disposal sites, hazardous waste and its impact on the enviroment, disposal sites management Disposal sites, hazardous waste and its impact on the enviroment, disposal sites management
KAZDA, Jaroslav
The topis of my thesis is waste disposal, especially the disposal site in Lišov run by the firm A.S.A. Inc.. I examine disposal site risks and waste sides impacts on the environment. In the 50th in the last century the solid waste site in Lišov was established. All the disposal produced by urban area inhabitants was deposited in a former brick-clay quarry. After being filled up the site was cultivated and other disposal was deposited in another site nearby {--} also an abondonned quarry. Since 1998, the holder of the disposal site has been the firm A.S.A., Inc., Krajinská 10, 37001 České Budějovice. Nowadays in the disposal site there are seven sectors including a sector for leaking water intake. If necessary, water may flow back to the detention basin, and there is also a degassing system in the disposal site. The disposal site management is being checked - samples of deposit site water, surface water and underground water are being analysed regularly. The hypothesis of negative impacts of disposal sites on the environment was tested in practice. I read through all available information resources to find out that there are hazardous contaminants in the disposal site, some of them in over-limit concentrations, but their migration through underground water was not proved. It means that there is no evidence of a negative impact of the disposal site on the environment and the people living nearby.

Intellectual property (IP), is mostly associated with being immaterial. The term "property right" refers to a right or a set of rights one can enforce by means of benefits or use over a resource. Those rights may be transferable and may be treated as property or resources themselves. As from a historical point of view, different IP components developed independently on each other, this paper examines patents, utility models, registered designs, trademarks, and copyright individually. In order to answer the first research question "What means of protection are best suited for medical breakthroughs?", it adds a Supplementary Medical Certificate to a list of possible IPP tools. Even though this mean of protection is not recognized worldwide, it extends the regular protection period of a patent, and thus is commonly used. There are limitations to medical related IP protection as well, e.g. compulsory licensing which occurs when a government allows someone to produce a patented medication without the consent of the patent owner. IPP is also used to secure access to innovative and expensive medications in third world countries by tier pricing or licensing. The second research question "Under what circumstances is applying for a medical related trademark cost beneficial?" is answered through a case study. Its main goal is to extend on the theoretical part, and apply for a trademark with the Intellectual Property Office in Czech Republic (IPO CZ). In addition, the entire application process is thoroughly described and can serve as guideline for future applicants, not only with the IPO CZ as the application process with any national IP office is rather similar. In combination with a successful application, this is one of the most important findings.

The system of quality costs management in the chosen company
TONDLOVÁ, Kateřina
The quality of products is the biggest competitive advantage that a company can achieve. The definition states that quality is the degree of compliance requirement with a set of inherent characteristics. The importance of quality have very increased in recent years - quality is a decisive factor for stable economic growth of enterprises, management quality is the most important protective factor of the loss of markets, quality is a major source of saving materials and energy, the quality affects of macroeconomic indicators, the quality is a limiting factor for the sustainable development , quality and consumer protection are connected vessels. Quality costs are the total costs incurred by producers, users and companies associated with the quality of the product. The quality costs of the manufacturer is divided into four basic groups: the costs of prevention, assessment, costs of external defects and internal defects.

The toxicology of polychlorinated biphenyls
Janušová, Radka ; Vopršalová, Marie (advisor) ; Žáčková, Pavla (referee)
Charles University in Prague Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology Radka Janušová Supervisor: PharmDr. Marie Vopršalová, CSc. THE TOXICOLOGY OF POLYCHLORINATED BIPHENYLS This diploma thesis is dealing with the toxicology of polychlorinated biphenyls. There are described their properties, sources, their movement in the environment, toxicokinetics and effects on various organ systems. Together with polychlorinated dibenzorufans and polychlorinated dibenzo-p-oxins belong to persistent organic pollutants that can be characterized by their toxicity and ability to accumulate in the environment. They are synthetic organic aromatic compounds. First time, they were synthetized in 19th century and since 30s of the 20th century have been industrially produced in huge amounts. They have a number of useful physical and chemical properties that allow their wide use and many of these products, which contain PCBs, are still used. In the U.S., their production was already banned in the 70s of 20th century, with us they were produced until 1984. In 2001 was signed the Stockholm convention, that obligates the involved countries to limit the production, use and discharge of these substance into the environment.

Deceptive markings of foodstuff - meat, milk, spices
VAŇKOVÁ, Kateřina
In the Czech Republic the food production is one of the most important branches of processing industry. The effort of producers, distributors and inspecting authorities is to limit the production of insanitary products as much as possible. That?s why there are a lot of inspecting mechanisms within the Czech Republic and also within the whole European Union. Their major aim is to reveal these insanitary and deceptively marked products and withdraw them from circulation. The requirements for marking of products aren?t simply and completely clearly defined even today, after the progressive harmonization with the prescriptions of the European Union. Concrete requirements for marking of foodstuff can be found in the Food Act No. 110/1997 Coll. and its implementing decrees including a special decree about the forms of marking of foodstuff No. 113/2005 Coll. Specific demands for marking of individual groups of products are given in decrees for particular commodities. It isn?t easy to draw up a comprehensive picture of all requirements for marking of a concrete product. In order to use the text on the cover, the consumer needs to know what?s hiding under certain words and what do the individual marks on the cover mean. The aim of the diploma thesis was to judge the compliance of legislation for marking of selected food products ? meat products, dairy products, spices and spice mixtures. The acquired information have been compared with a questionnaire research among consumers. It was an important finding that almost three quarters of respondents never had to reclaim a deceptively marked product. Unfortunately, 26.25 % of respondents met a deceptively marked product and that?s why they reclaimed it. In most cases the claim has been delt by repaying or exchange of goods; unfortunately, the claim of 9.5 % respondents hasn?t been accepted.

Relaunch of Acylpyrin in years 2007-2009
Kadlec, Michal ; Báča, Ladislav (advisor) ; Halada, Jan (referee)
The bachelor thesis called "Relaunch of Acylpyrin in years 2007-2009" analyses the campaign focused on relaunch of the medicament "Acylpyrin" on Czech market. The thesis is limited by the area of Czech Republic only, despite the fact that marketing activities reached the Slovakia as well. The customer was the company "Herbacos Recordati, s.r.o.", producer of this traditional medicine. The whole advertisement campaign and other activities had been directed by the company "Focus Agency". The thesis is made of five chapters, the first one deals with the product itself, considers its history and medical function, the second one shows the competitors and their area of market. The third part describes the phenomenon of pharmaceutical marketing and its restrictions on the field of advertisement. The very campaign of relaunch is analysed in the fourth, the main and the most important chapter, which is the longest one, there are mentioned both sides of this campaign, the character of the campaign and its goals. The thesis analyses used methods, marketing and communication mix, all the strategies and activities. The last, fifth, chapter summarises the whole relaunch, evaluates and compares theories with praxis and author's own survey.

Weather derivatives in agriculture
Špička, Jindřich ; Hnilica, Jiří (advisor) ; Málek, Jiří (referee) ; Blažek, Ladislav (referee)
Agriculture is one of the most weather sensitive sectors. The thesis aims to assess the efficiency of agricultural weather derivatives to reduce revenue risk in agriculture taking into consideration the growing conditions in the Czech Republic. The problem of risk management scheme in the Czech agriculture is that systemic weather risks are not covered by insurance (drought). In these cases, farmers have to rely either on their own financial reserves or ad hoc state assistance. Various combinations of weather variables, crops, regions and weather stations have been examined to design index-based weather contracts for most important crops produced in the Czech Republic. The first part of the thesis is devoted to literature review concerning risk management in agriculture. Overview of data sources is followed by assessment of risk environment of agricultural enterprises in the Czech Republic. Then, author describes the choice of crops and regions suitable for weather derivative design. The main part is devoted to method of design and valuation of weather derivatives at the regional level (burn analysis, parametric bootstrap). Finally, discussion on main findings, chances and limitations of agricultural weather derivatives is considered. The research shows the need to better differentiate public risk management support in agriculture in the Czech Republic. Regarding the efficiency of weather derivatives, it is possible to conclude that spatial (geographical) and production basis risk significantly reduce the efficiency of weather derivatives in agricultural practice.

Electricity market model of the Czech Republic
Kubát, Jan ; Pelikán, Jan (advisor) ; Kodera, Jan (referee) ; Marvan, Miroslav (referee)
A competitive electricity market has been established in many European countries including the Czech Republic. The electricity market includes a limited number of significant producers and traders, which can be described by oligopoly model. Since the electricity transmission and distribution are regulated, I consider two types of players performing in the electricity market: producers of electricity and traders, who buy electricity from producers and sell it to final customers. I derive oligopoly model with producers and traders "a la Cournot" and calculate a formula of equilibrium strategies. I use these theoretical findings to build a dynamic oligopoly model Ele. Ele is formulated as a mixed complementary problem and calibrated on data for the Czech Republic and neighbor states for several scenarios. The model was specified and calculated in GAMS software by the PATH solver. The results represent a Nash equilibrium. That means for individual producers: electricity generation, investment in new power plants construction and emission permits purchases. For traders the results are: equilibrium purchases, sales and cross-border transfers of electricity in each particular time period. Ele derives also equilibrium regional wholesale and retail electricity prices, emission permit prices and prices of cross-border auctions. Ele results point to an economic profitability of new nuclear power plants constructions. Further, I formulate a game in short-term electricity market, where I advise to Czech market participants, subjects of settlement, how much and in which circumstances to buy or sell electricity. Equilibrium results obtained through simulations based on the principle of a fictive game show that the current payment system of imbalance in the Czech Republic does not increase the risk of instability of electricity networks.
