Sotulář, Jiří ; Šabatka,, Lubomír (referee) ; Pilgr, Milan (referee) ; Hron, Lukáš (advisor)
The thesis deals with the analysis and standard check of structural steel connections subjected to seismic loads. Analysis is based on a software solution and standard check is performed according to standard requirements and formulas. The first part deals with the theory of seismic load. There are described the general knowledges about the earthquake and the method of determining the effects of seismic loading on buildings according to the EN 1998-1. In the second part of the thesis is made design and check seismically loaded multi-storey steel building. Design is based on recommendations of the EN 1998-1 and some recommendations of research. In the third part is the analysis, verification and check of steel joints, which are contained in the structure designed in the second part of the thesis. On the basis results of analyses of indivudual connections are defined recommendations and requirements for the use and design structural steel connections subjected to seismic loads.

Auteur Execution of Film Dialogue
Kocábek, Daniel ; KAJÁNKOVÁ, Lucia (advisor) ; VAJCHR, Marek (referee)
This thesis is about auteur execution of film dialogue in screenplays and also in film. By analysing four different feature films, Reservoir Dogs, Chasing Amy, Before Sunset, and Rushmore this work shows how their authors shoot conversational scenes in an innovative manner. The American Independent cinema is briefly introduced as well as the auteur theory. The choice of filmmakers and specific films is explained. The thesis subsequently demonstrates how film dialogue is being viewed by film handbooks and how a conventional dialogue scene looks like. The four analyses are based on all of this information.

Statistical tests power analysis
Kubrycht, Pavel ; Malá, Ivana (advisor) ; Bílková, Diana (referee)
This Thesis deals with the power of a statistical test and the associated problem of determining the appropriate sample size. It should be large enough to meet the requirements of the probabilities of errors of both the first and second kind. The aim of this Thesis is to demonstrate theoretical methods that result in derivation of formulas for minimum sample size determination. For this Thesis, three important probability distributions have been chosen: Normal, Bernoulli, and Exponential.

Legal regulation of waste management in the Czech Republic
Huml, Miroslav ; Sobotka, Michal (advisor) ; Stejskal, Vojtěch (referee)
English recapitulation of this thesis -Legal regulations of the Waste management in the Czech Republic The main purpose of the thesis is to demonstrate the most important waste management principles in the Czech Republic and in the other European countries. The thesis is divided into 8 chapters. The first chapter deals with a general introduction concerning the topic. It indicates global situation and undesirable influences of deficiencies in the waste management on condition of world seas and oceans. The second chapter considers the waste management as a branch of science activity. This branch was established in 1980s in west European countries, however, 10 years later also in the Czech Republic. The first Parliament Act on the waste management in Czechoslovakia was created in 1991. There were some mistakes and dubiousness in the Act and it was necessary to put them aside before joining the European Union in 2004. Before 2004, this Act had been changed completely two times. The Act of Czech Parliament 185/2001 Sb. went into force on 1st January 2002. Since then, it has been novelized many times according to the European law and is currently responding to the European directives. The third chapter mentions some other acts which are connected with the waste management in the Czech Republic. On the top of...

System TOGA and work style questionnaire for managers
Krištof, Daniel ; Štikar, Jiří (advisor) ; Štětovská, Iva (referee) ; Gregar, Aleš (referee)
In theoretical part of dissertation author describes the constitution of the system called TOGA as a unifying concept which enables assessment of work style of managers based on systemisation of their activities into three categories. It differentiates the following categories of activities: diagnostically oriented activities, algorithmically oriented activities and creatively oriented activities. Based on these universal and understandable categories it assesses the preference of particularly oriented activities. In system of TOGA the term work style of manager is described as an individually characteristic level how manager prefers activities with diagnostic, algorithmic, creative orientation. Higher risk is assigned to the profile of work style of manager who dislikes or neglects or refuses certainly oriented activities. Typical mistakes but also recommendations are described for individual managers as well as measures to be implemented by their superiors. In research part of dissertation author introduces results of standardisation study of questionnaire which assesses attitude/preference to diagnostically, algorithmically and creatively oriented activities. Reliability, validity, item analysis and norms are demonstrated in the study.

Non-projectivity in English and Czech
Čermáková, Kristýna ; Hajičová, Eva (advisor) ; Malá, Markéta (referee)
This thesis analyzes non-projective constructions in English and Czech. It is based on the functional generative description of language and the analysis of material drawn from the Prague Czech-English Dependency Treebank, the Prague Dependency Treebank, and the British National Corpus. The theoretical part provides a brief characterization of phrase structure grammar and dependency grammar together with the definition of the fundamentals of the functional generative description, and the definition of non-projectivity. The analytical section presents a detailed comparative classification of non-projective structures in both languages. Individual types are studied from the perspective of differences between the surface structure and the underlying structure, demonstrating how the substitution of a non-projective clause for a projective one influences the topic-focus articulation and the meaning of the clause. The main objective is to define factors motivating non-projectivity in English and Czech, to compare them, and to determine whether it is marked or neutral type of discontinuity that prevails in each of the two languages.

The Internet and copyright-the scope of liability of individual parties involved (webhosting, connections providers...) and modes of protection against piracy (identification and punishment of a pirate...).
Brabec, Jiří ; Císařová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Dobřichovský, Tomáš (referee)
Resume in English The topic of this thesis is "The internet and the copyright law - the scope of responsibilities of individual entities (webhosting providers, ISP) and ways to protect against piracy (the identification and prosecution of pirate)". The purpose of this text is primarily to explain the functioning of the BitTorrent protocol and demonstrate that the current legislation is fully able to provide means for the authors to defend their rights. Although there are certain limitations, but these arise mainly from the nature of internet itself rather than from the existing laws. Basically, the BitTorrent protocol provides the users the ability to create ad-hoc peer- to-peer networks, which then allow them to share certain files. It is a very effective way to distribute a large amount of data in a short time on the internet. This advantage, together with the fact that the users can act practically anonymously on the internet, lead to the increase of intellectual property infringements in the recent years, causing a lot of damage to the authors. Therefore, it is important to provide answers to the questions of liability of particular subjects, which take part in the file sharing using the BitTorrent protocol. These are the providers of webhosting, the providers of tracking services and the sharing users....
