Modeling of Elastic Mechanisms
Slaný, Jan ; Keršner, Zbyněk (referee) ; Frantík, Petr (advisor)
The thesis deals with constructing and solving a discrete mechanical model from the point of view of dynamics. As an example of a real-world problem which can be approximated in this way, the dynamical behaviour of a bow and arrow during loose have been chosen. In order to solve this particular type of model, a specialized piece of software has been developed. This method and software have been deployed to simulate shooting a straight bow of specific parametres. Two variants for the shape of the bowstaff have been evaluated.

Legal aspects of the indoor production of liquors and certified distillation
Kutěj, Vladislav ; Gřivna, Tomáš (advisor) ; Bohuslav, Lukáš (referee)
Legal aspects of the indoor production of liquors and certified distillation The author analyzes all possible crimes, which can be comitted in the indoor production of liquors or during certified distillation. Firstly, he defines key terms and provides the sources important for the field of liquor production, provides information about history of liquors making and explains how the certified distillation works. The thesis also includes the author's own definition of yet undefined legal concept of the indoor liquor production. In the section devoted to the analysis of individual crimes, the author first looks at the offense of illegal production of alcohol, which has been excluded from the criminal Code. The recent health crisis in Czech republic called Methanol affair is described in the thesis as well with connection to indoor production of liquors and certified distillation. The part about the Methanol affair also describes why the crisis happened and what were the consequences for people living in Czech republic (prohibition, death of many citizens, injuries etc.) Detailed examination in relation to the indoor production of liquors and certified distillation is provided to crimes against life and health, economic crimes and to generally dangerous crimes. During the indoor production of liquors or...

Poor age - Growing over-indebtedness of persons in advanced age
Jandová, Pavlína ; Ochrana, František (advisor) ; Plaček, Michal (referee)
Western countries are facing an increasing poverty among seniors related to the demographic revolution and lengthening of life span. The so-called over-indebtedness is one of the "modern" causes and also consequences of poverty. This thesis discusses the relationship between over-indebtedness and poverty with emphasis on senior population (65+). An empiric analysis is employed to explore causes and consequences of over-indebtedness. The increasing over-indebtedness is already being targeted by public policies, however their effectiveness is low. Sufficient material and personal resources are lacking as well as not being optimally utilized. There is only limited cooperation between civil and public-law sectors. Communication with the private sector in a way of common goal setting is also deficient. In a fierce market-driven economy, elderly people become a weak link and find themselves in situations conflicting with morals, human and civil rights, and adequate quality of life in a modern society. This state of affairs threatens social integrity and demands a solution. Three participating groups were surveyed: the elderly, the employees of advisory centers and the non- bank financial institutions. Various approaches to solving the problem are discussed. The result of the analysis consists of a wide...

The Indication of Earth Faults in Overhead Lines
Pospíšil, Zdeněk ; Topolánek, David (referee) ; Toman, Petr (advisor)
This master´s thesis deals with the indication and localization of earth faults in overhead lines. Earth fault is the most frequently occurring type of fault in medium voltage overhead lines – it covers approx. 95% of all faults and is very difficult to indicate and localize them correctly and in time with currently available methods on the market. Therefore is very important to study earth fault and its indication, localization. The thesis consists of a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part deals with faults in overhead networks with different type of neutral grounding, mainly with one phase to the ground fault in the compensated, ungrounded, solidly grounded and via resistance grounded networks. Most of the theoretical part is dedicated to one phase to the ground fault in the compensated and ungrounded networks, where this type fault is called the earth fault. In the compensated and ungrounded networks is described in details behavior – voltage and current relations during both steady state and transient state earth fault. The theoretical part is further dedicated to detection methods of earth faults and their preconditions for use. There is described also in details the complete procedure of earth fault detection, which includes indication, unhealthy feeder determination and exact position or line section localization. End of the theoretical part is then focused on determination of accuracy requirements for measurement of basic quantities and computation of other parameters. The practical part deals with a work at medium distribution network model, which includes familiarization with the model, detailed verification of its functionality and behavior during the earth fault, obtaining faults records and algorithmization of methods: method of qu – diagram and method of first half - period, which are able to detect unhealthy feeder. This part of the thesis was put together based on a demand of company Mega, corp., which wanted to verify function of both above mentioned and by them not yet tested methods.

Dementia in the Czech Republic: development, projection and risk factors
Cséfalvaiová, Kornélia ; Langhamrová, Jitka (advisor) ; Malá, Ivana (referee) ; Růžková, Jiřina (referee)
Doctoral thesis deals with dementia, which social, health and economic impacts are alarming worldwide. Expected dramatic increase in the number of people with cognitive impairment will put high demands on health and social care. Population aging and the increase of elderly persons aged 65+ evoked a need to address this issue, since age is the major risk factor for dementia. Conflicting conclusions of the European and international studies confirm the difficulty of quantifying the disease. Different definitions and measurement methods lead to different results. In the Czech Republic, in comparison with other developed European countries, there is no relevant research on the expected increase in the number of people with dementia or trends and determinants of severe cognitive impairment. Available estimates of the prevalence of dementia in the Czech Republic are based exclusively on the international prevalence studies EURODEM and Eurocode. Dissertation provides an estimate of the number of people with dementia in the Czech Republic to 2050 based on the construction of life tables for demented people. The thesis also includes analysis of risk factors of severe cognitive impairment based on socio-demographic and health variables. This knowledge is very important for the development and maintenance of effective policies and programs responsive to the needs of individuals living with cognitive impairment in the Czech Republic.

Route optimization for the parcels distribution
Ptáčková, Michaela ; Borovička, Adam (advisor) ; Čížek, Ondřej (referee)
This thesis deals with optimization problems of the parcels distribution. This issue can be solved on the ground of traveling salesman problem whose mathematical and economic model, including their modifications, are presented in the theoretical part of the thesis. We can solve these problems by using exact methods, heuristic and metaheuristic algorithms. In the theoretical part are described traveling salesman problem, traveling salesman problem with time windows, traveling salesman problem with multiple time windows and dynamic traveling salesman problem including possible ways of solution. In the practical part we can find application of problems on the real example, when we are finding the shortest possible route for the PPL's employee under different assumptions. The solution is obtained by using solver Gurobi within the modelling system MPL for Windows. In conclusion of the thesis the results are summarized and models are compared with each other.

Effect of taxes on economic growth in developed countries after 1945
Vít, Ondřej ; Ježek, Tomáš (advisor) ; Vebrová, Ludmila (referee)
The most discussed topics in economics is the relationship between economic growth and taxes. The aim of this study is to evaluate the influence of different types of taxes on economic growth of Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) member countries after World War II. The thesis is based on extended neoclassi-cal growth theory from 1992 by Mankiw - Romer - Weil. Regression Analysis of Panel Da-ta is used as technique for verification of the correlation of economic growth and taxation. The impact of taxation is integrated to the model through its effect on accumulation of physical capital, development of human capital and technology. The source of panel data used in the analyses is statistical databases of OECD, World Bank, Maddison historical data and Penn World Table. For better comparison of the results more different methods of measuring tax burden were used. It was share of tax income on GDP, share of income from different types of taxes on total tax revenue, labor tax and compound tax quota. Results than differ by measurement of tax incidence. It is too complex to set clear recommendation for growth, nevertheless it is obvious, that the goal of economic and political authorities is to shift the tax burden from direct to indirect taxes.

Odhad disparit v zacházení s cizizími statními příslušníky v trestním procesu v České Republice
Vávra, Jan ; Dušek, Libor (advisor) ; Kovanda, Lukáš (referee)
This thesis examines the effect of foreign nationality on the outcomes of criminal process in the Czech Republic. Foreign citizens are overrepresented by 2% compared to their share in population in all stages of the criminal process, suggesting possible discrimination by domestic authorities. Using rich case level datasets from 2005 to 2015 observed gaps are decomposed to part explained by a difference in the objective characteristics of the cases and unexplained part, suggesting possible inequality of treatment. Foreigner gaps in probability of charge, probability of conviction, probability of imprisonment, length of the sentence and probability of release from prison on parole are decomposed. Majority of observed disparities in the outcomes can be attributed to higher involvement of foreigners in more serious crimes compared to nationals. Unexplained disparities remain in probability of imprisonment and probability of release on parole, suggesting possible unequal treatment in these two outcomes.

Administration costs of Environmental Taxes
Fröhlichová, Magdalena ; Martínková, Lenka (advisor) ; Vítek, Leoš (referee)
This diploma thesis aims to investigate an administrative costs of Environmental Taxes in the Czech Republic between 2013 and 2015. A value of administrative cost has been monitored for individual customs authorities. By using an indicator of the relative administrative cost thesis also assesses an overall effectiveness of Environmental taxes from perspective of tax entity and tax administrator. The main finding from this analysis shows that administration costs of Environmental Taxes in the Czech Republic were lower and administration of these taxes was more effective than administration of Environmental Taxes in Slovakia. However in comparison with Excise Taxes in the Czech Republic the administration cost of Environmental Taxes in the Czech Republic were higher and administration of these taxes was less effective. Overall the administration of Environmental Taxes in the Czech Republic could have been considered as effective in reviewed period.
