Simpson, Barbora ; Belisová, Šárka (advisor) ; Duběda, Tomáš (referee)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to translate selected chapters from the book of Jean Catinus - La Bolive and to make a commentary of the translation. The commentary consists of five parts: translation analysis using the method of Christiane Nord, conception of translation based on the theory of Jiří Levý, analysis of selected translation problems and their solutions, translation procedures by Alena Tionová and lastly, principal translation shifts which occurred during the translation.

Applications of Multivariate Time Series Models in Finanacial Analysis
Hrba, Martin ; Cipra, Tomáš (referee) ; Zichová, Jitka (advisor)
The thesis deals with the applications of multivariate ARMA models for particular time series from nancial markets; it consists of a theoretical part and a practical part. The former refers to the theory of multivariate ARMA models and methods of their applications. In the latter two time series are solved by system Mathematica 5.0, one currency courses series and one stock exchange index series. The data and programme source code are enclosed on a CD.

Hybrid flowshop with adjustment
Kaněra, Vojtěch ; Pelikán, Jan (advisor)
This work should serve as a source of information on the issue of production scheduling. The work is particularly focused on the relatively new terms in optimization of processing of production batches area, such as flowshop and its modifications in the form of so-called hybrid flowshop. The work is divided into five chapters. The first chapter consists of an introduction. In the second chapter I mention the theory of scheduling, the third part deals with the history of flowshop and in the fourth part I check the functionality of new models on real data. In conclusion I summarize the contents of work, comment resulting calculations and deliver the practical usage of flowshop.

Optimal tax system
Podobský, Petr ; Lipka, David (advisor) ; Antoš, Ondřej (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to find the optimal tax system based on the employees taxation model. The basic question is how the tax system influences the work supply and how it changes the wealth distribution. The model uses the distribution of gross monthly wages from ČSÚ data. In the first part there is an introduction of tax theory. In the second part there is a definition of optimal tax system. In the third part there is a description of tax model and its parameters are defined. In the fourth part there is a presentation of the results of the model taxation. The last part of the thesis chooses the optimal tax system. The thesis comes to a conclusion that the optimal tax system is presented by a proportional taxation due its lowest loss of product. The change of wealth distribution should be realized by transfers.

Analysis of trend of unemployment rate in Czech Republic
Jeřábková, Věra ; Arltová, Markéta (advisor) ; Langhamrová, Jitka (referee)
The unemployment is one of the main economic indicators. Thanks to time series analysis and predicting values, we can take measures of eliminating negative aspects of the unemployment in the economy. This thesis is concentrated on connection between theory of unemployment with time series analysis of unemployment rate, especially based on Box-Jenkins methodology.

The Concept of Pollution Kegare in Japan at the Turn of 16th and 17th Century
Mornsteinová, Lucie ; Labus, David (advisor) ; Sýkora, Jan (referee)
The major objective of this master thesis, is to describe the process of forming and development of the social groups connected with the concept of ritual pollution kegare in Japan at the turn of 16th century. The main questions are: In which direction did the development of these groups tend to go from the outset of the Japanese Middle Ages? Did the policies of the unifiers of Japan cause any disruptions to this development, and if so, what was the new direction? Was creation of the Edo outcaste order also motivated by an effort to restrict access to strategical commodities, or was it only a side effect of individual edicts and restrictions? To answer these questions I used two approaches. At first I diachronically described the development of groups connected with the concept of ritual pollution from the ancient times, and to this data I applied Mary Douglas's grid and group theory. Results of this show that during the time period in question development of groups of eta tanners was significantly accelerated, while the status of the non-persons groups of hinin was stagnating, or regressing. This thesis hopefully offers a brief insight into the overlooked aspects of Japanese history, and sheds some light on the reason for the discrimination of descendants of the burakumin group which in Japan...

Study of photon strength functions from thermal neutron capture
Bauer, Karel ; Krtička, Milan (advisor) ; Cejnar, Pavel (referee)
A subject of this thesis is to gain information on absolute photon strength function at gamma-ray energies around 4 - 8 MeV in two Gadolinium isotopes. This energy range is known as a ''low-energy'' tail region of E1 resonance. The absolute photon strength function is obtained from comparison of the sum of intensities of transitions and the number of transitions observed in thermal neutron capture on $^{155}$Gd and $^{157}$Gd with prediction from statistical model under various assumptions on photon strength functions and level densities. Banality of Evil and the Holocaust
Prášilová, Petra ; Soběhart, Radek (advisor) ; Stellner, František (referee)
The thesis "Banality of Evil and the Holocaust" deals with the phenomenon of banal evil in the context of the Nazi Holocaust. The first part of the paper refers to the theoretical aspects of this phenomenon; the second part applies this theory to the occurrence of the Holocaust offers concrete examples. The paper aims to offer answers to the following questions: "Does banal evil exist in our world today?", "Was the Holocaust a unique event?", "Who might tend to become a murderer?". The author concludes that banal evil exists at the present time and also states the conditions of its existence and prevention. Furthermore, the author substantiates the repeatability of holocaust and, as a consequence, its non-unique character. The author comes also to the conclusion, that anyone can become a murderer, even if he does not personally commit a killing. The contribution of the thesis is to set up an integral vision on the theory of banal evil, along with a supplementary analysis of the Holocaust from this theoretical perspective. The paper also intends to establish a new conception of the Holocaust, and its perpetrators as rationally acting individuals.
