Internet Gambling in the USA - regulation and prohibition
Kozák, Jakub ; Šíma, Josef (advisor) ; Ždímal, Martin (referee)
This diploma thesis is focused on comparison of two political approaches to a quite new e-commerce industry -- internet gambling. These approaches are prohibition on the one hand and regulation, free market environment, on the other hand. Internet gambling became the worldwide phenomenon. However, American legislators had passed the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act 2006 in 2006 which outlawed an internet gambling. The declared purpose of this Act is protection of families against ill effects, such money laundering, underage gambling and problem gambling on society. This paper argues that regulation and free market environment established in Great Britain is much more effective way how to solve these key issues. There is demonstrated in the paper that free market stands for economically preferable option and contains better instruments for solving the issues at the same time.

The full generation of peace and the Sino-American rapprochement, 1969-1976
Bečka, Jan ; Calda, Miloš (advisor) ; Fojtek, Vít (referee)
In this thesis, several key issues will be discussed which significantly influenced the American foreign policy during the Nixon and Ford presidencies. The very system of foreign-policy-making which Nixon instituted together with Kissinger and which gave crucial powers and control over the American diplomacy into the hands of the president and his national security advisor is one such factor worthy of consideration. Nixon, who harbored a deep mistrust for the Department of State, did all he could to marginalize its role and even to keep his own Secretary of State, William Rogers, in the dark about the real American foreign policy objectives. Nixon also had a penchant, which he shared with Kissinger, for secret, backstage diplomacy, which proved especially important in dealing with such countries as the PRC or the Soviet Union. Most of the important negotiations and talks were shrouded in a cloak of confidentiality and were only presented to the public when Nixon was sure of their success. In this way, Nixon, like Kissinger, was building his image of a master diplomat and negotiator who was indispensable for the United States and whose skill greatly improved the deteriorating American position in the world. Simple speech recognition algorithm for microcontroller
Vedra, Lukáš ; Šrámek, Petr (referee) ; Fedra, Zbyněk (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with speech recognition commands on the microcontroller Atmel AVR family. The thesis describes methods of recognition, influence of a sampling frequency selection, lengths of a sequence used, and a number of possible orders with respect to computing speed and memory capacity of the microcontroller. Furthermore, successful acquisition of orders is tested. It also discusses comparison options of an imprint saved in a dictionary command, or more precisely in a database of the microcontroller and a word which has just been uttered. The work also deals with a mechanical system design of the device.

Čeněk Šlégl (1899-1970). The confrontation of an artist with two totalitarian regimes
Macela, Miloslav ; Koura, Petr (referee) ; Čechurová, Jana (advisor)
This master's thesis deals with the career of the actor and director Čeněk Šlégl (born 30 September 1899 in Prague, died 17 February 1970 in Prague), and also explores the issue of collaboration in Czech artistic circles. Čeněk Šlégl rose to become a popular film actor in the so-called First Republic. He became a succesful director (making eight films between 1937 and 1939), and was one of leading figures of the Vlasta Burian Theatre. His story depicts how totalitarian regimes may impact an otherwise hassle-free and successful life. Šlégl was confronted both by a nazi regime and by a communist regime. During the nazi occupation his only daughter fell under direct threat as a consequence of her relationship and a later marriage to a man of Jewish descent. After being attacked in the collaborating Vlajka newspaper, Šlégl forestalled further such attacks by joining the fascist organization of the same name. A side-effect of this was that Šlégl became increasingly isolated at work, both from his colleagues and from the audiences. Finally, in 1941, after more than twenty years, his film career came to a sudden end. At that time, Šlégl came to the attention of the German security services, namely the Sicherheitsdienst. Under threat of imprisonment of his family members, Ślégl agreed to take part in the propaganda...

Analysis and management of a development project
PRANEVSKÝ, Luděk
The aim of the thesis lies in implementation of a complex analysis of partial phases of a developing project including its management. This aim can be achieved by achieving partial aims such as doing an analysis of a developing project as well as doing an analysis of developing activities in České Budějovice region or analyzing a specified developing project "HOUSELOTS {--} Šindlovy Dvory" including the assessment and suggesting a measure. The reason for setting such a goal is in a need to explore a relatively new enterprise activity which is expanding nowadays and affects all of us. It involves building new commercial centres where people go shopping or entertain themselves as well as building flats, single-family houses and grounds for people{\crq}s living. The complex theoretical analysis of a developing project and the analysis of a single implemented project lead to the conclusion that the success of a developer{\crq}s project is first of all dependent on the quality of a choice of a developing project and also on the exact accomplishment of single phases of a project according to its aims set in advance. It is essential to plan all steps of partial phases of a project exactly. To forget or delay any step in a specific phase of a project can affect the final result dramatically. Significant disturbance of surrounding structures may occur in such cases (suppliers, investors/buyers and other cooperative persons) as well as in big financial losses and even quarrels at law.
