The pottery of sector 20 at Jandavlattepa
Včelicová, Tereza ; Stančo, Ladislav (advisor) ; Pavúk, Peter (referee)
The aim of this work is to classify and analyse the ceramic assemblage of the sector 20 - so-called Citadel - of the site Jandavlattepa in the South of Uzbekistan. This settlement in historical Bactria was inhabited in its latest phase by the Kushans. The here presented pottery was discovered by a Czech-Uzbekistan expedition during the years 2002-2006. This work presents the history and environments of the site in order to enable a complex understanding of the pottery assemblage as a whole, in relation to its contexts. The pottery fragments are divided into the groups according fabric, shapes and forms. The decoration types are also accentuated. All these features help to compare Jandavlattepa with analogical sites of Central Asia from the same period.
Iran in Putin's foreign policy: Is Russian approach towards Iran part of broader Russian foreign policy strategy?
Typoltová, Johana ; Svoboda, Karel (advisor) ; Horák, Slavomír (referee)
Bachelor's thesis is concerned with Iran's position in Russian foreign policy from 2000 to 2011. Iran has been highly debated by international community in last decade, due to his controversial nuclear energy program. Russia supported sanctions imposed on Iran by UN Security Council. However, Russia refused to bolster any other kind of sanctions and maintained commercial and strategic cooperation with Iran. Main purpose of the thesis is to find out if Russia maintains its relations with Iran due to broader Russian interests, which were declared in Russian foreign policy concepts, or if Russian actions towards Iran are simply a response to Iranian behaviour and development in international affairs.
New Silk Road Initiatives
Hilliová, Markéta ; Horák, Slavomír (advisor) ; Aslan, Emil (referee)
Thesis "New Silk Road Strategy" focuses on U.S. Foreign policy strategy for Central Asia and Afghanistan. This strategy draws its inspiration from various concepts of restoring the ancient Silk Route and thus creating renewed continental link between far East and West. These concepts began to emerge significantly after the collapse of Soviet Union in 1991. The thesis firstly introduces these concepts and thus provides a theoretical and conceptual background for the NSR strategy. This strategy was adopted by U.S. State Department in June 2011. In this thesis I am arguing that not much success was achieved so far. I demonstrate this on the case of two main projects - the proposed construction of TAPI pipeline and Trade and Transit Agreement between Afghanistan and Pakistan APTTA.

Geopolitical orientation of foreign policy Turkey : possibilities and perspectives
Dimelis, Konstantinos ; Barša, Pavel (advisor) ; Slačálek, Ondřej (referee)
1 Abstract The aim of this thesis is to analyze the contemporary Turkish foreign policy and to determine whether it is becoming increasingly distant from the West. To answer this question, the thesis maps and analyzes the Turkish international relations with the three main geopolitical regions of the Turkish foreign policy direction: the European Union, central Asia and the Muslim world, especially the Middle East. The direction of the Turkish foreign policy is also illustrated by the empiric part of the thesis - a quantitative event data analysis of the second half of 2012. The analysis leads to the conclusions that negotiations for accession to the European Union gives the impression that Turkey is not being invited. In central Asia Turkey promotes itself in the economic and culture areas only. The contemporary Turkish foreign policy, when Turkey increasingly identifies itself with an Islamic identity, is becoming more independent and its main focus is on the Middle East region. Turkey's ambition is to represent the whole Muslim world. Despite this fact, it cannot be said that Turkey is completely breaking away from the West. On the contrary, Turkey is now closer to the West, facing the increasing influence of Iran.
Mirgation between Russia and Central Asia
Vilímová, Andrea ; Horák, Slavomír (advisor) ; Šír, Jan (referee)
This thesis deals with migration flows between Russian Federation and the Kyrgyz Republic. The aim is to analyze migration trends after the collapse of the Soviet Union and to characterize the impact and importance of migration on society and the state of Kyrgyzstan. Another issue is the use of the theories of migration in the post-Soviet space, where they are rarely used nowadays. The analysis begins with an introduction to the formation of the USSR with regard to migration processes on the territory of present-day Kyrgyzstan. Another part is devoted to ethnic migration and the last part deals with labor migration. This thesis illustrates the interdependence of migration and changes in the economy and society in Kyrgyzstan. Based on the evaluation of the causes of migration, migration theory could be used just for explanation of labor migration. Application of specific migration theories on labour migration is a matter for further research.
