Immigration and integration of foreigners in the UK
Slavíková, Jana ; Abrhám, Josef (advisor) ; Popovová, Marie (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to analyse the approach of the United Kingdom to immigration and integration of third country nationals. The analysis is joined by comparison with the situation and measures taken within the European Union. The paper depicts the development and changes of the EU integration policy and the current system of immigration policies in the United Kingdom. Attention is also drawn to the public opinion and perception of immigrants in the host societies. Since the 90s, the integration policies of the EU Member States seem to be converging to the "civic integration" model. Emphasis is placed on the individual integration of immigrants, but their group affiliation is also accepted. Integration has to be a two-way process, with efforts made by the immigrants as well as the host society. Despite that, it has rather become a precondition which has to be fulfilled by the immigrants in order to gain more rights. The United Kingdom is also starting to condition the admission and citizenship acquisition by fulfilling language and knowledge criteria, regarding the history, institutions and life in the country. Even though its integration policy is one of the most successful, the current steps raise doubts.

Differences in the basic pitch relevant to the perceptual distinction of melodemes in English
Veroňková, Jitka ; Palková, Zdenka (advisor) ; Krčmová, Marie (referee) ; Janota, Přemysl (referee)
As in the case of many other languages, the intonation fulfils certain linguistic functions in Czech. It distinguishes conclusive vs. non-conclusive clauses, declarative vs. interrogative clauses and neutral vs. marked usage clauses. In the case of declarative and interrogative clauses, the intonation is the single distinguishing feature. Structures of the basic patterns to express these linguistic functions were standardized and in general accepted, but not enough is known about their particular realizations. In general, these structure types are realized in the final stress unit of the utterance. It has been confirmed that the intonation courses of some functionally diverse contours are similar and there exist overlaps among them. The perceptual differences between contours can be caused only by the size of F0 excursions. Our research focuses on finding minimal distinctions in F0 excursions which are sufficient to distinguish phonologically different types of sentences. Some structure types can be fully realized on the at least three-syllable stress units, that is why these were chosen to be analysed. The research is based both on synthetic speech and natural one. Two sets of synthetic contours, first containg three-syllable stress units and the second the four-syllable ones, that cover the structure...

Financial Control in the System of Organizing Dues
Luňáková, Dana ; Zachař, Ivo (advisor) ; Koberová, Eva (referee)
The thesis analyses financial control as a part of financial management that deals with govemment subsidised organisations which manage public funds. A part of this work is research about the level of quality of the operative control systém at schools and a risk analysis. Fulfilling the goals of financial control helps public funds to be better used for a common benefit. Schools and educational facilities belonging to government subsidised organisationts are classified as public services and as such they have to implement a systém of financial control according to the law. The director of a government subsidised organisation provides internal financial audits according to the given law. This law is rather significant for school directors, because it also deals with external financial audits. Given the fact that this is a complicated matter, this work is collecting data about financial control and presents its findings to school directors to improve the quality of their internal control systém. Evaluation in Tertiary Education
Mrňová, Olga ; Vašutová, Jaroslava (advisor) ; Semrád, Jiří (referee) ; Švec, Vladimír (referee)
Tertiary education institutions, academic community including students, and other stakeholders, e.g. government educational bodies, accrediting organizations, experts, employers and other representatives of the world of labour as well as general public have been recently focusing on accountability for excellent quality. This apparently global Phenomenon has influenced the Czech Republic as well as many other European countries that have to carry out the whole range of changes in traditional conception of school assessment. Various stakeholders in various countries however have their own perspective about institutional effectiveness and accountability. The best respond to their call for the demonstration of institutional effectiveness and accountability is a systematic institutional assessment and evaluation process, indicating how the institution fulfils its mission and goals. But different institutions in different countries have different cultures, characteristic features and missions. Thus it is meaningful to strive for a common understanding of what řccurs on a global basis, aiming at revealing relations through exploiting the knowledge about specific activities in the specific context of a respective country or institution. Two hypotheses were set to accomplish the research target. The quantitative research methodology {--} technique of questionnaire was used in this survey. The research was realized in the South Bohemian Region, in the towns of České Budějovice and Strakonice. The respondents of the questionnaires were selected on purpose according to their age (from 30 years to 45 years). The research set icluded 120 respondents of both the sexes (citizens of the towns of České Budějovice and Strakonice). On the basis of obtained and proportionally evaluated research data, the both hypotheses were confirmed. This thesis focuses on analysis and implementation of CRM in non-profit organization. The main aim of this thesis is to analyse the choice of suitable CRM system for Open Society Fund Prague, while the part of implementation is covered in the thesis of Václav Bešta. To fulfil the main aim, it is necessary to extend knowledge gained during the study using additional information from specialised publications and electronic resources which relate to CRM and Fundraising. These are subsequently used in the practical part, which is the result of individual work and cooperation with V. Bešta and members of Open Society Fund Prague. The contribution of this thesis is a resultant product in form of chosen and suggested CRM system, which Open Society Fund Prague will use for its activities. Possible contribution is that this system can be used by another non-profit organisation. Moreover, the practical part of this thesis may serve as a manual, how to deal with a selection of suitable CRM system. This Thesis is divided into two parts: theoretical and practical. The theoretical part discusses and clarifies the meaning of CRM and Fundraising, describes possibilities of their interconnection and mentions research in works, dealing with similar topics. At first, the practical part describes Open Society Fund Prague. The thesis continues with the analysis of found requirements for the CRM system, which than helps to choose a suitable product for the foundation. At the end, the thesis mentions the implementation of a chosen system in Open Society Fund Prague, which is described in detail in the thesis of V. Bešta.

Nevěřilová, Naďa ; Stuchlíková, Zuzana (advisor) ; Němečková, Tereza (referee)
The objective of this bachelor thesis is to evaluate the Millenium Development Goals project -- its procedures and up to now effects. I would like to try to find out if it is truth that activities of UN within this project have no results, eventually I would try to identify a problem and suggest possible solutions. The evaluation of this project is reduced to two of the total number of eight goals and to the region of Sub-Saharan Africa. First part of this work describes a subject-matter and a purpose of this project. It is concerned with theme poverty and with a historical background of rise of problems with poverty in Sub-Saharan countries. Then there are described methods which UN uses for monitoring of reaching the defined goals. Ways of financing an assistance for developing countries are also described. Second part of the work is aimed at the first goal of the project which is: eradicate extreme poverty and hunger. This part begins with adumbration of possible ways and methods of measuring and identifying poverty. Afterwards there is described and evaluated a state and a progress of fulfilling this goal. Perspectives of future progress are also adumbrated. Third part is concerned with the sixth goal of the evaluated project: combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases. After an introduction to the issue, there is also considered a state and a progress of reaching the goal and a possible future progress is presented.
