English back-formation in the 20th and the early 21st century
Stašková, Naděžda ; Klégr, Aleš (advisor) ; Kavka, Tomáš (referee) ; Pípalová, Renata (referee)
(Naděžda Stašková) The subject of the present study is a description and analysis of English back- formation in the 20th and the beginning of the 21st century. The work mainly focuses on the last part of the given period and aims at highlighting the most typical features of this morphological process today, resulting from its development over the whole century. Based on the analysis of the contemporary situation and on the results of the research of neologisms involved in the process of back-formation, prevailing tendencies for the nearest future have been drawn and possible subjects for further research have been suggested. Investigation of an overall sample of 768 back-formed units has resulted in the following conclusions: Productivity of back-formation remains on the same level as it was in the first half of the 20th century. The most productive process is formation of verbs from action nouns, which has grown significantly. Back-formation of verbs from agent nouns has decreased, formation of verbs from adjectives almost disappeared. Adjectives can be seen as a minor source of back- formed nouns, probably decreasing in productivity. There is a growth in involvement of compounds in this process. The most frequent subtracted suffixes are -ing, -ion/-ation and -er, all of them being involved in the...

Pollutants in the Indoor Air in the Baroque Library Hall of the National Library in Prague
Mašková, Ludmila ; Smolík, Jiří ; Džumbová, Lucie ; Ondráček, Jakub ; López-Aparicio, S. ; Grontoft, T. ; Stankiewicz, J.
Indoor air pollution in the exhibition rooms is a serious risk to works of art stored there. In the Baroque Library Hall of the National Library we examined concentrations and compositions of aerosol particles, temperature, relative humidity and concentrations of gaseous pollutants CO2, O3, SO2, NO2, NH3, HNO3 and formic and acetic acids. Time variation of fine particles concentration indicated outdoor origin with traffic as the most probable source. The concentration of coarse particles revealed periodic increase and decrease, corresponding to beginning and end of visiting hours, indicating visitors as a source of these particles. The major water-soluble inorganic components of the fine particle mode were ammonium sulphate, nitrate, and ammonium, with indoor nitrate concentrations decreasing to zero. It was apparently caused by evaporation of ammonium nitrate after penetration indoors. This process also increased indoor concentrations of ammonia.

Problematic life situations of person with homosexual orientation
VESELÁKOVÁ, Jesika
Homosexuality may be encountered in all cultural and historical formations. Different cultures have different views of sexuality, its expression and forms in general. The difference of the homosexual orientation and the way this phenomenon is reflected in the society influences the life of persons with homosexual orientation. Individuals are often confronted with an inner conflict with the heterosexual majority, which may result in his existential stress. Mastering problematic situations in life depends on the personality of an individual with homosexual orientation, the expectations of his/her social environment ambience and the support that his/her surroundings that the individual perceives in this environment. At present, there is increasing interest in homosexuality as a social phenomenon. In the theoretical part, I summed up the Euro-American views of homosexuality and outlined the religious roots of the present-day view of homosexuality. Subsequently, I dealt with living conditions connected with the homosexual orientation. The view of problematic life situations and crises of persons with homosexual orientation was, resulting from the substance of the subject, the most important basis for the practical part of my diploma thesis. The basic objective that I endeavoured to fulfil was to describe the life situations and problems that are connected with homosexuality, seen from the subjective point of view of persons with homosexual orientation. I limited the research area to the actual viewing of one?s own minority sexuality by a homosexual man/lesbian woman, and viewing their social background reacting to their different orientation. The study was intended as qualitative research from the very beginning. To conduct the specific research I chose the attitude by means of the phenomenologic research. The experience that an individual had gone through was recorded by means of an interview and subsequently analysed. This interview created a basis for the description and interpretation of the experience conveyed. Drawing on the facts obtained it is possible to recommend various forms of education activity, the purpose of which is a higher information level in both the homosexually and heterosexually oriented public. Further, I recommend drawing up quality methodology focusing on decreasing the homophobic attitudes in the majority society in the Czech Republic. It is necessary to observe a professional attitude lessons on the topic of homosexuality within sexual education at primary schools, which will be based on a unified methodology. To create a legislative basis concerning adoption and assisted reproduction in the Czech Republic, it will be necessary to adopt measures have to be adopted that will eventually result in an absolute elimination of discrimination of the minority with homosexual orientation.

Aerosol Particles in the Indoor Environment of the National Library in Prague
Andělová, Ludmila ; Smolík, Jiří ; Džumbová, Lucie ; Ondráček, Jakub ; Součková, M. ; Stankiewicz, J. ; López-Aparicio, S. ; Grontoft, T.
Particulate matter in the indoor air in exhibition rooms is a serious risk to works of art stored there. In the Baroque Library Hall of the National Library we examined concentrations and compositions of aerosol particles during 4 intensive campaigns in different seasons of year. Time variation of fine particles concentration indicated outdoor origin with traffic as the most probable source. The concentration of coarse particles revealed periodic increase and decrease, corresponding to beginning and end of visiting hours, indicating visitors as a source of these particles. The major water-soluble inorganic components of the fine particle mode were ammonium sulphate and nitrate, with indoor nitrate concentrations decreasing to zero. It was apparently caused by evaporation of ammonium nitrate after penetration indoors. Crustal elements in both indoor and outdoor samples were predominantly associated with coarse particles.

Analysis of extreme Solar events during long-term measurements on board of aircrafts
Ploc, Ondřej ; Spurný, František
Extreme Solar events can rapidly change radiation field in atmosphere of the Earth. These events are hardly predictable; calculations of their effects are at the beginning. One of the applicable methods is direct measurement by means of the active detector long-term placed on board of the aircraft. Results of semiconductor spectrodosimeter Liulin are discussed in this contribution. Liulin was repeatedly placed on board of aircraft during years 2001, 2002, 2005 and 2006. One GLE and several Forbush decreases have been registered during this period.

Navážka substrátu a inokulace stonožek (Chilopoda) na výsypky po těžbě hnědého uhlí
Voženílková-Aurová, Klára
Piles of upper soil taken from non-disturbed surroundings of the mine were deposited on the spoil heap area denuded by soil slide to accelerate succession and development of soil fauna on colliery spoil heaps. Development of soil fauna was investigated as from May 1995 till May 1998. Epigeic activity of centipedes was monitored by the method of long term pitfall trapping on the tops of the piles, between piles and on the soil slide in the distance of 50 m from the piles (control plot). The development of the centipede assemblage on the piles was similar to that on the reclaimed spoil heaps. .i.Lamyctes emarginatus./i., known as a pioneer species in young successive stage of the heaps, predominated at the beginning of the experiment. Later on, the numbers of .i.Lamyctes emarginatus./i. decreased because of increasing activity of other centipede species, especially .i.Lithobius microps./i..

Changes of burial in village Úhonice in the 20th and the beginning of the 21st century
Slaboch, Martin ; Krupková, Jaroslava (advisor) ; Navrátilová, Alexandra (referee) ; Štěpánová, Irena (referee)
The way of burial have during the 20th century in our country dramatically changed. Newly appeared cremation and in recent years there increase the burials without any ceremony. So high portion of burials without ceremony has not got a parallelism in the whole world. Traditional spiritual burials with a multiple leave and inhumanition to the grave on the graveyard are decreasing. There are still coming new and new options and ways of undertaking from now on. The thesis focuses on progress in burial in middle Bohemia's village called Úhonice during the years 1988-2008, where the ways of burying of all 205 dead people were perfectly registered. The case study shows the new forms of undertaking, which appears in Úhonice later than in bigger cities. Today the dead body is immediately taken by burial purposes, which even look after obsequies. By activity of professional burial purposes the burial customs disappear

Lean Six Sigma in Decreasing the Error Rate of Proposal Form Filling
Albert, Michal ; Plášková, Alena (advisor) ; Žák, Daniel (referee)
This thesis is focused on the proposal form filling error rate in life insurance. The theoretical part of the thesis describes main aspects of the methodology Lean Six Sigma, which will be used to decrease high error rate. Lean Six Sigma is widely used in today's companies to improve business processes by increasing their sigma. The methodology is an integration of two separate approaches, both invented in the beginning of the 20th century. The aim of the integration is to bring together the best of both of them. The practical part of the thesis shows how the seemingly separed approaches Lean and Six Sigma can work together. Lean was used to improve the process for insurance company's sales force, and Six Sigma was then applied to decrease the error rate of the forms. Both of the improvements were successfully implemented in the company and led to a desired outcome.
