Land snail shell degradation in forest environment
Říhová, Dagmar ; Horsák, Michal (referee) ; Juřičková, Lucie (advisor)
Experimental shell degradation of nine common Central European pulmonate snail species in forest ecosystems in the Czech Republic was investigated. Model shells were deposited for 6, 12, 24 and 36 months in leaf litter of six different places; than removed, dried and photographed. Set of alternations was analysed by CANOCO 4.5 statistical system. Small species degrade different from large ones. Large species corrode outwards, after periostracum disruption the ostracum dissolves and holes appear. Small species corrode out from within, calcium carbonate dissolves and small windows arise. The shell degradation proceeds with different rate on various localities. Some localities have characteristic types of alteration, e.g. peat bog pine forest exhibits ostracum dissolution and periostracum deformation. The ultimate influence of the degradation is caused by pH value and humidity. Shell shape and size have effect on its degradation. Moreover, other important decomposition agents are living animals. Squeeze-out of minority shareholders under s. 183i and subs. of the Commercial Code
Baier, Jaroslav ; Štenglová, Ivanka (referee) ; Čech, Petr (advisor)
Resumé The purpose of my thesis named "Squeeze-out of minority shareholders according to § 183i et. seq. of the Commercial Code" is to bring a coherent insight at the chosen problems of share deprivation belonging to minority shareholders in the Czech joint-stock companies. Despite its relative recency (in the Czech law effective since 2005), the institute of squeeze- out has become notorious for lack of legislative quality, vast exploitation possibilities at the hands of the majority shareholder and for low respect paid to interests of small shareholders. Probably nobody would doubt an economical impact of the squeeze-out itself, but the Czech version evokes them. These doubts might be particularly seen in difficulties dealing with judicial review of the amount of compensation paid for the squeezed shares and subjectivity of the experts' estimation of shares value. In my thesis, I have focused primarily on the disputable aspects of the squeeze-out, tried to perform a critical view and introduce solutions (in terms of de lege ferenda) for some of the problems that might be found in the context of this institute, particularly the topic of the Main shareholder, Monetary compensation and chosen decision of the Czech High Court. This thesis is composed of nine chapters, summing up the institute from its...

A picture of man in the works by Endo Shusaku
Dušáková, Hana ; Tirala, Martin (referee) ; Švarcová, Zdeňka (advisor)
The works of Endo Shusaku and the themes discussed in them derive from his own unique life. Drawing on hi experience with isolation and misunderstanding in a foreign environment, and then his being an exception in Japan for his Catholic faith, Endo certainly shows profound understanding for those in similar situations, and his observations become even more relevant in the present-day world where multiculturalism and migration are some of the foremost issues. In spite of the complexities that interactions between various cultures, nationalities and beliefs bring, Endo's novels reveal hope that these differences will not be impediment to mutual tolerance and understanding across these boundaries. Essential to this understanding and compassion with others will be individuals who resemble the protagonists appearing in the three novels we have examined: people who dare to listen to their conscience and follow their inherent sense for justice, even at the cost of "going against the current" and the risk of losing the favor of majority. This, I believe, would be the "message" Endo's works, and also the reason why he remains one of the most respected contemporary authors. This paper's objective was the discussion of Endo Shusaku's characters and the portrayal of man in his novels. This is a theme that could be also...
