Binková, Kateřina ; Heřmanský, Martin (advisor) ; Ištvánek, Prokop (referee)
In this paper I have focused on subculture of tea fans, in people who devote intensively their time to tea and tea culture and whose lifestyle is characterized by being somehow alternative in comparison to mainstream society. The work is based on the empirical research which was running from 2007 to 2009. The main data source were semi-structured interviews gathered up at different places of the Czech Republic in years 2007 - 2008. The aim of this study has been to ascertain who the tea fans are, what tea and tea-making signify for them and how it is reflected in their lives. At the same time I have focused on the understanding how tea fans make sense of tea rooms as basic units of transmission of tea culture and in which way they are linked to their surroundings and wider society. In order to study tea fans' life I have consulted concepts of subculture, to which basic characterization tea fans suit. Simultaneously I have pointed out that in contrast with classical concepts of subculture, the tea fans' one differ in many aspects. First of all in the aspect that in this case it does not represent youth subculture and also it is not the subculture which would "fight" towards mainstream society.

The Domestication of Cubism: Kramář's Biedermeier
Lahoda, Vojtěch
The thesis of the study is based on Vincenc Kramář's way of thinking. Explaining cubism in his book Kubismus from 1921, he uses characteristics that would be very adequate to describe the atmosphere of a Biedermeier interior or intimacy. If we draw links between this semantic focus of Kramář's statements and his own personal hobbies as an art historian in the 19th century, but also as a collector, and his private hobbies or personal life, we will discover points of contact. The description of Picasso's cubist paintings as a sort of "domestic art" is in harmony with his passion for the art of the early 19th century, above all its first quarter. The article deals with the Biedermeier semantics in Kramář's statements, art-historical focuses and in his personal life, in his preference of the family and collector's activities.

Macroeconomic factors and stock returns: Evidence from three Central and East European countries
Tung, Christopher ; Novák, Jiří (advisor) ; Dědek, Oldřich (referee)
This dissertation deals with the links between stock market returns and foreign exchange rates, industrial production and exports to Germany in three Central and East European countries (the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland). The main questions addressed are: "Do macroeconomic factors related to foreign exchange rates and industrial production affect stock market returns in the Visegrad-3? And what is the impact of exports to Germany on those stock returns?" This analysis makes use of panel-data and the Arbitrage Pricing Theory (APT) to produce results. Firstly, foreign exchange rates are found to have a negative effect on stock returns. However the divergence in currency returns between the three countries means that the overall effect may be due to some factors that are not accounted for in this analysis. Secondly, there is a positive, but lagged, association between industrial production and stock returns. Thirdly, exports to Germany from the region are also found to have a positive impact on the stock returns of the Visegrad-3. Finally, there is divergence among the three countries with respect to the relationship between the macroeconomic factors and stock returns. Poland and Hungary are seen to exert a significant amount of influence over the region's stock markets.

Analysis of pension reform with the introduction of a link between the number of children and pension
Bělošický, Alexandr ; Klazar, Stanislav (advisor) ; Hartlová, Alena (referee)
This thesis focuses on the analysis of non-traditional approach to reforming the pay-as-you-go pension system by introducing a link between the number of children and the amount of pension, which is known as the Children PAYG. An analysis of the concept in general and of specific proposals for reform with its application is performed in the analytical part. Attention is also given to related topics. One of them is to assess the impact of the pension system on fertility. Further issue is to examine the costs of raising a child that are shared by parents and society as a whole. One of the main outputs of this thesis is a summary of positive and negative features of the Children PAYG concept. The concept is considered applicable in domestic conditions based on this analysis. Finally there are two recommended approaches to the Czech pension reform, the first one is based on the concept of Children PAYG with limiting the role of family policy, the second one is based on maintaining current pay-as-you-go system in a limited form of so-called flat-rate pension with strengthening the role of family policy in financing the costs of raising children.

Personal and family finances-your own business as a path to riches
Hromasová, Lucie ; Smrčka, Luboš (advisor) ; Sladkovský, Otakar (referee)
The goal was to implement a business plan that is viable and will provide long-term profit. I wanted to prove, as the name suggests, running a business can lead to wealth, because not everyone is lucky enough to get rich. In my business plan, I would theoretically manage it. I implemented a pension for elderly, Ltd., which would make a profit on just two out of three stated options. The first option I have called "Optimistic", while I consider it as the default option. This option would only occur if the pension was fully occupied. As it is known, it is just an ideal vision. At the same time, I don't want to condemn this idea, because with ensuring adequate demand at the beginning could this idea be fulfilled. Next option called "Realistic" would mean occupying the pension by 75 %. The profit would be 3 times lower by comparing with the Optimistic one, but would still make amount somewhere around hundred thousands crowns. That means it is still quite positive result. Regarding the third option "Pessimistic" I must simply state, I would have to leave the business because I'm having substantial loss in the first and second year of business. In the following years, the profit and loss statement shows that I make profit. It does not solve anything, because throughout the enterprise the cash flow is in negative numbers. Consequently, I have no funds to operate the pension and primarily to repay the loan. So I would like to claim, that I reached the goal I got to myself and simultaneously I even pointed out other options, where in one case the goal wasn't accomplished.
