Impact of legislative changes on traffic accidents frequency in Czech Republic, 1990-2007
Buka, David ; Čelko, Alexander (advisor)
The theme of my thesis on the impact of legislative changes traffic accident rate in the CR in the period 1990-2007, I chose because of a particular socio-propletenosti legislative field rules and laws with the consequences of their existence in the form injured, permanently disabled or dead persons in the Czech roads. Their numbers reach values that are often mnohasetkrát greater than if many a seemingly dangerous grateful to the media problem. Every year comes Czech Republic of town with about a thousand inhabitants, and in most cases of working age who die on Czech roads. Tens of thousands of others must be longer or shorter time to heal consequences of these accidents. Many of them never fully recover. Certainly interesting to know whether changing laws and rules can be affect the amount of such tragedies, and of course best to lower values. From the simple premise that the mildest the consequences of the accident which happens, it is clear that direct the effort to reduce the number of accidents to prevent their formationplays. Looking back to the passed legislative changes relating to transport and for prevention programs, along with the history ofstatistics traffic accidents will give us a picture of what impact the changes should, and will give us guidance as to what further changes to implement for...

Voice transformation in MS SAPI 5 TTS engine with cepstral description
Přibil, Jiří ; Přibilová, Anna
The report describes non-linear frequency scale mapping used for voice conversion in the Czech and Slovak TTS system with diphone inventory and synthesis based on the cepstral and harmonic speech model.

Extension of mappings into Banach spaces
Novotný, Vojtěch ; Pyrih, Pavel (referee) ; Hušek, Miroslav (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with extending continuous and uniformly continuous mappings. It studies Lebesgue's and Tietze's work in metric spaces through Urysohn's theorem in normal topological spaces, Kat etovs' papers about uniformly continuous functions up to Dugundji's theorem and relationship between continuous extending of pseudometrics and mappings. It connects the articles of nineteen mathematicians of the twentieth century, presents plenty of theorems in more general form and shows that they could be formulated earlier or proved in another way.

Companies' requirements on graduates - programmers
Urx, Martin ; Pecinovský, Rudolf (advisor) ; Matas, Martin (referee)
The thesis maps different types of programmers and what are demands on programmers from employees. It analysis both technical skills and also soft-skills and their importance when evaluating a programmer. The thesis also contains an analysis of IT education offered by selected universities and high schools. The data are gathered through questionnaires and their results are confronted with the study options.

XSLT Implementation in Relational Database Environment
Kmoch, Ondřej
XML is widely used format for storing all kinds of data and XSLT standard represents a standardized way, how to transform a XML document to a di erent structure. Many XSLT implementation has been introduced, but the most of them uses an in-memory representation of the transformed XML document. The implementation done in this thesis uses the relational database engine to store processed document and takes advantages of SQL to evaluate XPath expressions used by XSLT. First, importing source XML document into the generic relational mapping is described. For processing XPath expressions, the XPath to SQL convertor is introduced. Lastly, the processing of XSLT stylesheets by relational database engine is shown.

Physical mapping of centromeric and terminal markers of linkage groups in Xenopus tropicalis
Tůmová, Lucie ; Krylov, Vladimír (advisor) ; Nedvídek, Josef (referee)
Xenopus tropicalis belongs together with its related genus Xenopus laevis to important model organisms on the field of study of developmental processes. In comparison to well introduced models (i.e. Melanogaster, Mus etc.) for Xenopus tropicalis there is an absence of linkage and physical maps that have invaluable importance for the identification of developmentally relevant genes, including their syntheny with human. Currently, there exists provisional linkage map constructed by scientific group of Department of Biology and Biochemistry, University of Huston, Texas, USA. It is constituted of ten linkage groups (LG1-LG10) and six linkage clusters (A-F) composed by total of 1713 Simple Sequence Repeat (SSR) polymorphic markers. The laboratory of developmental biology, Charles University in Prague, participates in completing the linkage map by physical mapping of chosen polymorphic markers on chromosomes Xenopus tropicalis, which led to allocation of each linkage group and cluster to the right chromosome and to assessment of the orientation in most of them. The physical mapping of terminal markers will show us, how far chromosomes are covered with linkage groups and which areas still remain unmapped. The cooperative laboratory from National Institute for Medical Research, London, UK, originated a list of...

Citizen photojournalism and videojournalism on Czech news websites
Vilímová, Tereza ; Hanzal, Jaromír (advisor) ; Vochocová, Lenka (referee)
The master's thesis deals with the citizen photojournalism and the citizen videojournalism in the Czech media landscape. It focuses on the frequency of the amateur photographs and videos published on the selected news web sites and also on the gatekeeping process. This master's thesis also reflects the editor's opinions on the citizen photojournalism and the citizen videojournalism. The citizen journalism is usually viewed from the perspective of the citizen journalists, but this master's thesis brings the view from the second side, from the media professionals. The thesis uses the combination of the quantitative and qualitative methods. Firstly, there was conducted the quantitative content analysis. Secondly, there were interviewed the media professionals. The conclusions of the master's thesis indicate that the citizen photojournalism and the citizen videojournalism is rarely used on the Czech web sites. The media professionals evaluate this phenomenon positively, find its contributions to the news flow but only under the certain conditions. On the other hand, they do not find the citizen photojournalism and videojournalism absolutely necessary element for the news service.

Predatory journals in Scopus
Macháček, Vít ; Srholec, Martin
The study maps the penetration of so-called “predatory” scholarly journals into the citation database Scopus. Predatory journals exploit the author pays open access model, and conduct only cursory or no peer review, despite claims to the contrary. Some such journals will publish almost anything for money. In the Czech context whether a journal is indexed in Scopus is crucial for determining the points that publications in that journal are awarded in the national performance-based evaluation of research organizations, which in turn is the basis for the allocation of institutional funding. Hence, in this evaluation framework, publishing in predatory journals that are indexed in Scopus has a clear “fiscal” advantage.

Popularity of Gastronomical Facilities and Drinks in 2016
Vinopal, Jiří
In September 2016 CVVM SOÚ AV ČR replicated some of the questions about gastronomical facilities, which constitute a part of research project Pubs and Beer in Czech Society that is under way since 2004. This press release maps basic results about the preferences of particular types of gastronomical facilities, motives and frequency of their attendance and also the favourite drink during social encounters.

Beer in Czech society in 2016
Vinopal, Jiří
In September 2016 CVVM SOÚ AV ČR replicated some of the questions about beer, which constitute a part of research project Pubs and Beer in Czech Society that is under way since 2004. This press release maps basic trends about the share of consumers among Czech citizens and about both amount and frequency of beer consumption from 2004 to 2016. The status of non-alcoholic beer is mentioned as well.
