Legal regulation of genetically modified organisms
Procházka, Miloš ; Šturma, Pavel (advisor) ; Balaš, Vladimír (referee)
66 RESUME Legal Aspects of Genetically Modified Organisms. Recently the transatlantic debate over the use of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) as food products, with the USA as a proponent on one side, and the European Union as an opponent on the other, was set to take center stage. The USA has initiated formal legal action under the World Trade Organization Dispute Settlement System, charging that the EU violates several agreements of international trade law, including Article III of GATT, an anti-protectionist measure which forbids a country from favoring its own products over imported "like products." The USA claims that GMOs and conventional crops are "like products", and that the EU moratorium on GMOs thus violates Article III. This Diploma work assesses the USA "like products" claim, most notably in light of Asbestos, Beef Hormone case and a recent WTO case which provides important guidance for determining likeness under four criteria of BTA Test (Border Tax Adjustments). At the heart of the GMO Dispute is the precautionary principle. The EU holds steadfast to this principle while the USA shuns it in relation to products containing GMOs. The EU's use of the precautionary principle as a guide for GMO regulation is supported by the overwhelming use of the precautionary principle worldwide in...

Terapie probíhala 3-5krát týdně do celkového počtu 15 procedur. Hodnocení intenzity a charakteru bolesti provedl pacient před 1. terapií a po skončení 15. terapie formou vizuálních analogových škál (VAS) a krátkou formou dotazníku bolesti McGillovy univerzity (SF-MPQ). Hodnocení VAS navíc probíhalo před každou terapií a 5 hodin po každé...

Analýza bankovního sektoru ve vybraných zemích východní Evropy
Křížek, Tomáš ; Dvořák, Petr (advisor) ; Janda, Karel (referee)
The thesis analyzes the banking sectors in selected countries of CEE region, in particular in Albania, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina and compares their development with the Czech Republic as it is CEE country with one of the most advanced banking sectors in the region. Three parts of the paper analyzing separately each of the countries are supplemented by country comparison and final conclusions. General development, development of banking sector as well as banking market and financial performance of banks are examined. As a conclusion, all the countries develop in a different way and with different starting conditions. Albania relies more on qualitative development with low absolute figures but high relative indicators with respect to the utilization of available resources. The development in Serbia is rather quantitative, in contrary to the situation in Albania. Bosnia and Herzegovina is progressing quite ambiguously also due to uncertain political situation in the country. It can be also concluded that all the three countries still have to go a long way to reach comparable level of their banking systems with the Czech Republic.

Study of the influence of the pasticizers on acyclovir release from polymeric carriers
Trčková, Kateřina ; Šnejdrová, Eva (advisor) ; Dittrich, Milan (referee)
Rigorous thesis Trčková Kateřina 2005 Theoretical part of this work is focused on the polymer delivery systems with controlled released of the drugs and targeting. In the experimental part was studied the Acyclovir (ACV) release from oligoester carriers branched with 5 % of mannitol (5M) and plasticized with various concentration of methyl-, ethyl- or hexyl salicylate. The 150,0 mg matrices composed of carrier, drug of 4% and plasticizer were put to the static dissolution test using phosphate citrate buffer of pH 6,0 at 37řC. The ACV released was determined spectrophotometricaly at 256 nm. The ACV liberation was continuous with different burst effect caused by plasticizer type and concentration. The best release was observed from carriers plasticized using only 10% of the plasticizer despite of the type of plasticizer. Ethyl salicylate in concentration of 10% was found to be the most convenient plasticizer of the 5M carrier.
