The Concept of Science According to Paul Karl Feyerabend
Brouček, Luděk ; Hogenová, Anna (referee) ; Hajnal, László (advisor)
The approach to science to Paul KarI Feyerabend follows this approximate model: The pragmatic goal is to find the solution of a problem. Based on a concrete situation, we elaborate on a random hypothesis which can solve. the problem, and because of that, we expand our knowledge. The approach to the choice of hypotheses or theories cannot be restricted by the scientific point of view, nor by scientific method or scientific demarcation. We are left to elaborate, and let alternative hypotheses compete with each other. Feyerabend provided evidence that this is free approach to the extetion of knowledge more effectively defends against rigid exclusivity, and indoctrination of ideology. Reality is more uncomprehensively rich and methodology binds. In this work a view of the world in which we are now living is presented. It is an approach to the world derived from history. It is about Relativism. This view is presented by the life work of the Austrian professor of philosophy Paul KarI Feyerabend.

Patients'/clients'needs after radical prostatectomy
Svitáková, Pavlína ; Skála, Bohumil (advisor) ; Novák, Ivo (referee) ; Langrová, Eva (referee)
Patients`/Clients` Needs after Radical Prostatectomy The theoretical part of the present thesis, which is focused on needs of patients/clients after the radical prostatectomy, is concerned with the needs of an ill human as such within the framework of the holistic concept. Then, it analyses specific prostatectomy-patient-related needs. The thesis reveals the fundamental of this operation and its lasting ill effects that cause various problems and bring along specific needs. The above-mentioned effects concern all parts of human personality. The thesis deals with the nurse's role while identifying and satisfying these needs within the framework of the nursing process. The importance of an appropriate education is stressed as well. The practical research part not only analyses the level of patients'/clients' foreknowledge of eventual post-operative problems and complications but it monitors also their concrete needs in different stages of the post-operative period.

Post-Communist Syndrome: a Mental Heritage. A Theoretical Framework and Empirical Findings
Klicperová-Baker, Martina ; Feierabend, I. ; Košťál, J.
The article discusses post-totalitarian symptoms and the concept of post-totalitarian syndrome which can explain mentality of some dissatisfied Eastern European citizens. The current Czech post-totalitarian conditions are analyzed in terms of specific grievances and human needs; it is suggested that the disappointed include numerous frustrated but otherwise pro-democratic citizens. Complaints focus on economic insecurity (fear of unemployment, lack of security at the old age), crime (both white collar economic and street crime), lack of overall safety and disappointment with the general decline of interpersonal relations. Although respondents found it much easier to be upset with the current circumstances than with the totalitarian past, direct questions referring to the pre-1989 police state revealed an overwhelming awareness of and frustration with it. The most intense current anger is provoked by misconduct of politicians, yet democracy as a regime is not doubted.

Paradiplomacy of the Regions in the European Union
Novák, Ondřej ; Peterková, Jana (advisor) ; Dubský, Zbyněk (referee)
This paper deals with the new phenomenon of international relations - the foreign relations of subnational units. It describes it in the framework of new regionalism and in the concept of paradiplomacy. It analyses the main channels of regional representation at the level of European Union: the Committee of Regions, the European Commission, the Council of ministers, the European parliament, regional representation offices and transnational associations. At the end, the paper focuses on examples of Flandern, Baden-Würtemberg, Burgundy, Voivodship of Opole and Central Bohemian region.

Metrics model of service organization and its evaluation using Business Intelligence
Kříž, Petr ; Novotný, Ota (advisor) ; Maryška, Miloš (referee)
This thesis deals with corporate management and measurement of strategic business performance. The main object of this thesis is to design a system for strategic management of service organization and try to apply this model in environment of chosen service. Balanced Scorecard methodology was used to achieve this objective and the metric model and strategy map of service organization is based on its principles. The first part of the thesis is aimed at theoretical aspects of corporate management and measurement of strategic business performance, so it focused on Balanced Scorecard, Business Intelligence and Corporate performance management. This part provides theoretical framework for the next part of this thesis. The next part deals with applicability of theoretical concepts at chosen service company. The objective was to implement some metrics originating from the previously constructed metric model using Business Intelligence. The outputs of this part are metric model depicted in the form of strategy map and management reports in form of graphs and tables that monitor the business performance through chosen metrics.

Solving over-constrained problems
Kasl, Tomáš ; Barták, Roman (advisor) ; Zlomek, Josef (referee)
Constraint hierarchies belong to techniques for solving over-constrained problems, that is, constraint satisfaction problems where it is not possible to satisfy all the constraints. The idea of constraint hierarchy is to label each constraint by a preference level describing how much the constraint should be satisfied. Currently, there exist two classes of constraint hierarchy solvers: local propagation solvers that can handle more or less equality constraints only and refining solvers that are a bit cumbersome and non-incremental. The theoretical framework of constraint hierarchy solvers combines advantages of both above mentioned classes but no algorithm exploiting the power of this framework has been proposed so far. The thesis describes a new algorithm for solving constraint hierarchies based on this framework.

Dukovany nuclear power station. Geomorphological analysis of the closer area
Roštínský, Pavel
Geomorphological analysis of selected phenomena in the south-eastern area of the Dukovany nuclear power station (both the existing and new planned production units) – topographic arrangement, surface inclination, topolineaments, setting of fluvial sedeiments. The study was elaborated requested by ČEZ corporation (main Czech energetic producer) in connection with the assessment of seismic hazard of the numerous transverse WNW–ESE structures to the plant.

System of employee appraisal in selected organisation
Bažantová, Anna ; Pánek, Pavel (advisor) ; Lukáš, Lukáš (referee)
This thesis deals with the evaluation system of employees in a selected certain organisation XY. The main objective is to evaluate the current setting of system evaluation and, if identified deficiencies recommend appropriate solutions and remedies. The work consists of two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part is elaborated on the basis of these secondary sources. In this part there is a particular issue of performance management and personnel evaluation system. The practical part is focused on the evaluation system in particular/selected/certain organisation XY. At the beginning of the practical part the company is introduced and then the current evaluation system is described. The information that is in the work, are obtained from the studied internal company documents. Quantitative and qualitative research was used to obtain the data through a questionnaire survey. In conclusion stated evaluation issues of employee evaluation and recommended solutions that can improve the current method of assessment of employees.

Competitive environment analysis of travel agency
Holbusová, Jana ; Vaško, Martin (advisor) ; Kvítková, Zuzana (referee)
The thesis analyzes the competitive environment of CK Alexandria. The aim is to create a comprehensive framework for systematic analysis of competitive environment. The thesis uses principles of Competitive Intelligence reflecting the specifics of travel agent industry. The first part introduces travel agents in general. It is followed by a description of competitive environment of travel agents. The following capture introduces the theoretical information about Competitive Intelligence. The practical section outlines the possible usege of CI in the particular company.
