Fairytales reinvented: How the heroines shape their own destiny in Robin McKinley's fairytale retellings Beauty, Rose Daughter and Deerskin

This thesis focuses on heroines of Robin McKinley's fairy tale revisions. The introduction concerns fairy tale retellings as a genre and Robin McKinley as an author. The rest of the thesis is divided into two main parts. In the first, McKinley's retellings of "Beauty and the Beast", Beauty and Rose Daughter, are introduced. Second part of the thesis revolves around a fairy tale "Donkeyskin" that McKinley retold in her novel Deerskin. The heroines of McKinley's novels are compared with their respective counterparts from the classical versions of the fairy tale. The issue of their character traits and their agency is explored. The conclusion summarizes the findings.

The influence of jazz in czech piano concerts

The thesis "The influence of jazz in Czech piano concerts" disserts on the Czech jazz scene of the First republic and the time after 1945. It reminds us of the Czech music on the edge of genres as well as it debates about the Czech piano concerts of the respective time period. It picks especially those most affected by jazz (E. Schulhoff: Concert for piano and a small orchestra, J. Ježek: Piano concert, M. Svoboda: Concerto grosso for violin, piano and a string orchestra, M. Hybler: Concert for piano and orchestra, op. 21). An analysis of the above mentioned with sheet music examples shapes another part of the work. The final part of the thesis is represented by a study on jazz elements used by the author in her piano concert "Beyond heaven".

Personality of Vadim Vasilijevič Borisovský and his teaching method

In this Bachalor dissertation the autor focuses on the personality of the Russian violist Vadim Vasilejevič Borisovský. Firstly, the reader will be familiarized withthe short biography of Borisovsky. In the second chapter I write about the Beethoven Quartet, where Boriskovský played. The main part of this dissertation is in the third chapter. Here I write about Borisovký´s teaching method. This chapter has 6 sections - shaping of players in the Borisovský class, developing professional virtuosity, technical and artistic aspects of the bow technique,developing of finger virtuosity, particularities of viola fingering and viola expressiveness. At the end of the dissertation there is conclusion, list of note examples and bibliography.

Cooperation between EU and Andean Community

The work focuses on cooperation between the EU and the Andean Community and its aim is to provide a view of the Andean Community, and further describe the mutual cooperation with the European Union. The first chapter discusses the emergence and development of the Andean Community, how the relationships of individual members are shaped and the institutional structure of the integration. The second chapter describes the development of mutual relations between the two integrations, and then this chapter characterizes trade between the EU and the Andean Community. The third chapter focuses on development aid provided by the European Union to the community. It also describes programs through which the Union implements development aid in countries of the Andean Community.

Summary: Komunikace duchovního s věřícími v krizových situacích Communication between Clergy and Communicants in crisis Lucie Isabela Vacková This thesis entitled Communication between Clergy and Communicants in crisis focuses on the work of hospital chaplains. At the beginning, there is a description of basic terms such as communication, priest and crisis. Furthermore, the thesis discusses the pastoral care with regard for the ill and dying ones. In particular chapters biblical and psychological view of illness, dying and death are introduced. In the Chapter Pastoral Care I describe the main goals of care, the history of charity in term of the Christian Church, the main method of pastoral care- conversation and the current situation in the area of care in hospitals in the Czech Republic. The research was conducted in hospital in Chrudim on the department of long-term care. The research`s objective was to determine how the patients percieve the pastoral care, what they expect from the pastoral care and whether they would personally use this care. Pastoral care in hospitals in the Czech Republic is still being shaped up. People often worry that a priest will try to persuade them to believe, if they use his services. This master thesis analyses the development and shape of residential suburbanization in north-east part of Prague hinterland - municipality with extended powers Brandýs nad Labem-Stará Boleslav - using data about new housing construction in the period of 1997- 2008 from Czech Statistical Office and data from Register of Enumeration Districts and Buildings. The thesis shows development of spatial arrangement of suburban housing in the period 1992-2008 in municipality with extended powers Brandýs nad Labem-Stará Boleslav. The thesis includes case studies of residential structure in several villages from north-east part of Prague hinterland: Jenštejn, Klecany Zdiby and Zlonín. This work mainly describes inspiration about my several-years experience of my creation that is architectural space in two-dimensional picture. I try to show all the typical aspects more detail, which characterize it like a rhythm, light, space, shape and construction. I show this theme in various aspects of a past and present architecture and try to observe its evolution with the key historical periods. Mainly I focused on present trends, which are represented by connection of a material and inside and outside spaces.

OPEC and its politics during the first oil crisis

First oil crisis played an important role in shaping of world economy. Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries played great role in this process. This paper deals with political and economical background of the time period prior to oil crisis, in front all with situation in the USA and Middle East. Oil market analysis, especially focused on the influence of group known as Seven sisters and its struggle with OPEC, can bring us many answers to questions about rising of the oil crisis. Important part of the paper is an analysis of impact of OPEC's behavior to world economy in the 70's. This behavior led to rise of several situations and to a formation of oil market as we know it today.

Block fields in the Giant Mts.

This diploma thesis is dealing with the study of the block fields in the Krkonoše Mountains. One of the features with which it is dealing is their distribution in the study area and it searches the influence of this distribution in the dependance on the morphometric character of the relief. Moreover, the inner and outer characteristics of the structure of the block fields are being studied. The outer structure was firstly investigated on the basis of the morphometric characteristics observed in DMR (digital model of relief) and orto photo maps and subsequently the characteristics of the inner structure were studied during the terraine geomorphologic researching. The following data were observed - for the outer characteristics: litology, exposition of the slope, angle of the block fields, area (log), index of the solar radiation, the length of the axis x and y of the block fields, excentricity of the shape of the block field, the altitude; and for the outer characteristics: deviation of the axis x from the downslope, the location of the block, angularity of the block, 'R' values, the length of the axis x and y of the block, the height of the block, excentricity of the block, inclination of the block and angle of the block.
