International assignments with concentration on the effects of culture differences in a work process
Chytráčková, Kateřina ; Pivoňková, Lucie (referee) ; Tureckiová, Michaela (advisor)
In my work I intend to prove that the issue of international assignment is a very broad area, with a theoretical background in many scientific disciplines, including adult education, intercultural communications, social psychology, human resources management and others. Despite global tendencies and culture convergence there are significant differences in merits, positions and moral values that are shared among members of each culture. These cultural differences might bring specific problems into communication with other culture members and they might also lead to misunderstanding and conflicts. For a better understanding of another culture it is very important to get to know the specific cultural differences and learn to respect them. For a successful work in the international environment it is necessary to master another important competence - an ability to communicate in the multicultural environment. In my work I will address the above mentioned issues. In the empirical part of my work I will demonstrate on the foreign assignments how to prevent problems that are linked with cultural differences and various corporate cultures and outline ways how to solve these problems.

Vliv východního rozšíření EU na obchod vybraných nových členských států se třetími zeměmi (Trade Effects of the East Enlargement in the CEECs)
Polášek, Petr ; Němcová, Ingeborg (advisor) ; Joklová, Kateřina (referee)
The thesis analyses the effect of the Eastern enlargement on goods flows into four CEECs. In the beginning, the Eastern enlargement and numerous related economic effects are briefly characterised. After that it focuses on trade diversion and trade creation effects, starting with a concise discussion of the traditional customs union theory and followed by the explanation of the choice of the estimation method. A gravity model applied on a panel data set is then used to model the import flows into the EU15 and the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia. The results showed that a careful choice of the model specification and estimating technique is needed and the model that controlled for four sources of unobserved heterogeneity (time, country pair, importer, and exporter specific characteristics) was chosen. Based on this model's results, we could expect a significant increase of imports from EFTA into these countries but aggregately we should not expect any trade diversion as no further redirecting of import flows from the rest of the world is predicted. Eventually, some of the real trade flow developments (territorial and commodity structures and revealed comparative advantages of selected regions) are described.

ER-diagrams editor
Ibrahimová, Nora ; Yaghob, Jakub (advisor) ; Hoksza, David (referee)
The present work describes the implementation of an ER diagram editor, which is meant to help with conceptual modeling learning. The program called ER editor enables users to draw ER diagrams and generate accordant SQL scripts for database creation. This tool can reverse engineer an SQL script as wall. Before generating both ER diagram and SQL script, the source sript/diagram is verified. The work also describes the theoretical priciples of SQL script generation and reverse engineering, including the layout of diagram on canvas. It also features a comparison of the implemented program with similar programs, and other information.

Concepts of harmony in five metaphysical poets
Jajtner, Tomáš ; Hilský, Martin (advisor) ; Procházka, Martin (referee) ; Mánek, Bohuslav (referee)
My interest in metaphysical poetry has always been tainted with a sense of amazement and awe: the poetry of the School of Donne, indeed, poses fundamental questions about the nature of modem poetry and the mission of a poet within a disenchanted world. The slow abandonment of the old Pythagorean system of ham1onious spheres rotating around a stable earth and the acceptance of the heliocentric Copernican-Keplerean universe marked a true "breaking of the circle of perfection''- to use the term of Marjorie Nicholson - and entailed a complex breach in the nature of representational arts. The old cosmology depicted the universe as truly universa!, i.e. turning around a single axis, a single principle, or a clearly defined centre. The order of creation was granted by the gradual chain of being, uniting the lowest with the highest in a scale of perfection. The nature of representational arts was, primarily, to re-present the order of creation: i.e. finding a means of transfer between the static order of universe and human understanding. Classical Renaissance literary theory - in fact, inherited from Antiquity - emphasised that poetry as the art of making was to "teach and delight": its delightfulness had to be firmly bound with instruction and initiation into to the order of harmonious cosmos. Indeed, Sidney...

An ER editor supporting conversions to relational model
Kozelková, Hana ; Skopal, Tomáš (advisor) ; Holubová, Irena (referee)
The task of the work is to implement an ER diagram editor for conceptual database modeling. ER diagrams are drawn by using notation which is taught in the course of Database systems at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University. The editor was created as a standard CASE tool. The program includes the mapping from the ER model to the relational model as well. The mapping results in a SQL-92 script for creation of tables in the database system. ISA hierarchy, n-ary relations and multivalued attributes are also supported. Before the mapping, the verification of the ER diagram is made. The work also contains theoretical principles and a comparison with some similar programs from both commercial and academic sphere.

Vaccination against tuberculosis in the Czech Republic
Neužilová, Anna ; Dáňová, Jana (advisor)
Tuberculosis is a serious infectious disease responsible for significant morbidity and mortality throughout the world. The Czech Republic ranks among countries with the world lowest incidences of tuberculosis, which is achieved by a very well conducted system of tuberculosis surveillance and control. This system includes vaccination of newborns against tuberculosis, whose preservation is currently a hot issue in the Czech Republic. In my thesis I focus on the adverse effects of the tuberculosis vaccine and the issue of current vaccination strategies. The thesis also contains a general chapter dealing with the immunological principals of vaccination, which is neccessary for proper understanding of how the vaccine works. Also included are chapters concerning the tuberculosis disease and its etiological agent, Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The quoted information comes from the published results of international studies, and the quoted statistical data from the reports published by SÚKL, ÚZIS and WHO. The discussion on possible vaccination strategies, their risks and benefits, is based, among others, on declaration of the Czech professional medical associations, to whom it highly concerns. It can be concluded that, concerning low incidences of tuberculosis in the Czech Republic, along with a well conducted system...

Approaches to consolidating data base and source code base of the Techno.cz webserver
Stankay, Michal ; Gála, Libor (advisor) ; Kafka, Daniel (referee)
In this diploma thesis, I conduct a research into approaches to consolidating data base and source code base of the Techno.cz webserver, which is the subject of the consolidation. By consolidation I mean bringing the server into the state where documentation is produced according to given requirements, data base is changed in order to improve data structure and consistency and source code base is reorganised in order to unify source code upon one platform, improve file system organization and remove problematic characteristics of the source code in general. The goals of this thesis are to create and describe general process of consolidation, sequence and contents of its steps; to describe contents of consolidation in given areas: documentation, data base and source code base; to describe actual steps made to achieve the final state of the server. My approach to accomplishing these goals is the study of relevant literature and usage of my practical experience in the field of web development. My contribution to the topic is the creation of the general consolidation process that has a potential to be reused by similar projects. Another contribution may be the description of handling the risks and problems that emerged during the consolidation process. This topic may find itself as a valuable source of knowledge for fellow developers facing similar issues. The thesis is divided into eight chapters. After the introduction chapter 2 follows. Chapter 2 describes parameters of the Techno.cz webserver. Chapter 3 discusses software engineering methodologies in order to create suitable consolidation process. Chapter 4, 5, 6 discuss particular fields of consolidation: documentation, data base and source code. In chapter 7 I am trying to assess suitability of created processes and approaches for usage in future development. In the conclusion I summarize the thesis according to required structure.

Josef Fišer (Life and Work of Regional Historian)
KOSÍKOVÁ, Jarmila
Submitted diploma thesis shows the portrait of Josef Fišer (1878 {--} 1944), the headmaster of a grammar school, regional historian, chronicler, cultural worker and a member of a range of societies. Josef Fišer was born in Klenčí pod Čerchovem, but he spent the majority of his life in Moravské Budějovice, where he stood in the head of a newly established Czech high school. The aim of this work is the interpception of Josef Fišer{\crq}s life, historical work and the picture of his personality in the eyes of his contemporaries. This diploma thesis also describes Josef Fišer as a high school pedagogue. Josef Fišer is undisputedly important person for the region of Moravské Budějovice. Up to present days there hasn{\crq}nt been published any monograph about him. Therefore Josef Fišer{\crq}s personal works saved in the branch of the State district archive in Třebíč {--} in Moravské Budějovice {--} played the crucial role in the creation of this work. In the first line there were newspaper{\crq}s and periodical{\crq}s articles or studies published in the occasion of the Fišer{\crq}s death or birth jubilee. The whole text is divided into six chapters, which are subdivided into subchapters. Textual or picture enclosures are joined to the diploma thesis to enrich the whole text.

Assessed psychological characteristics of human face in depedence on socio-economical status
Linke, Lenka ; Kleisner, Karel (advisor) ; Pivoňková, Věra (referee)
Human face is a complex semantic organ, which among others reflects also human individuality due to the high variance of facial morphologies. This study examines the relationship between psychological characteristics and social status. Moreover, we have analyzed variability in facial form and its relation to a particular social rank. The study was performed on a set of photographs containing 55 pictures of men in a management position. These photographs were evaluated by 47 male (average age - 22 years) and 77 female (average age 21,6 years) respondents. The data were analyzed by means of classical methods of statistical testing as well as geometric morphometrics methods. This study tests whether there is a relation between three psychological characteristics - dominance, attractiveness, trustworthiness - and social status. The effect of perceived dominance and attractiveness on social status were not significant. Nevertheless, we found statistically significant relationship between perceived trustworthiness and social rank. We were not able to detect morphological facial structures, which would distinguish the heads of department from the chief executive directors. However the parametric tests discovered statistically significant differences between the facial morphology of a trustworthy and...

Medical Aspects of Abroad
Adli Hanna, Dagmar ; Malinová, Jana (advisor)
Transmitted diseases are generally well controlled. A high level of immunization has been reached and preserved as well. Despite the falling prevalence of schistosomoiasis in the last few years, it remains together with hepatitis and tuberculosis a significant problem of public health. Heath of mothers and children are still a problem. Maternity mortality and neonatal mortality are still high. Not transmitted diseases are increasing, concerning cardiovascular, metabolic, chest-trouble and malignant tumour. The most often malignity is tumour of breast, liver, urinary bladder and lymphoma. Colon tumours are increasing. An important role in mortality plays accidents. About 1, 2% of the whole population is blind, mainly as a consequence of a cataract or a granular lid that is still quite common in some areas. The importance of diseases connected with lifestyle is increasing. Smoking, too much alcohol, fat and sweet nurture, lack of exercise, not using safety belts in cars and not observing traffic regulations participate in total mortality and sickness rate. The following list includes the most important facts: 1. population growth, 2. endemic and contagious diseases, 3. Maternity mortality, neonatal mortality and children mortality, 4. chronic disease, chronic renal failure and tumours, 5. Accidents and...
