Assessment of possibilities for reduction of water consumption in steel industry
Bohunský, Tomáš ; Březina, Michal (referee) ; Klimeš, Lubomír (advisor)
This bachelor thesis assesses possibilities for a reduction of water consumption in the steel industry and individual methods reducing water footprint in the whole process of steel making. At the beginning, the current situation of the steel industry is introduced and the problem with excessive water consumption classified. The biggest part of this thesis is then dedicated to the construction of universal procedure which can be applied in any steel plant. This procedure consists of analytical models and the specification of individual water-saving technologies. The results are compiled in a table containing the detailed influence on the whole manufacturing process.
The Study on Elimination of Water Losses
Klement, Jan ; Dvořák,, Pavel (referee) ; Kučera, Tomáš (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is on selected locations to assess the actual condition of drinking water losses from water mains and propose option to reduce them.
Impact of pressure condition on water consuption in water distribution network
Straňák, Petr ; Sucháček, Tomáš (referee) ; Tuhovčák, Ladislav (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with effect of pressure conditions in the water supply network on consumption of drinking water. The introductory part describes how pressures affect water consumption and six studies from different countries carried out on real network are presented. Further, the work is devoted to other factors influencing water consumption and distribution of domestic water consumption. The practical part deals with the laboratory measurement of the influence of pressure change on tested discharge fittings for flowing and dripping water. The results are also expressed in annual costs and a method is presented how the effect of pressure change can be quantified if we know the average daily consumption and its distribution.
Assessment of minimal night-flows in the water supply network
Nováková, Jana ; Korabík,, Michal (referee) ; Ručka, Jan (advisor)
This diploma thesis is focused on assessement of the minimum night flow in the water supply system. The first part of the work is focused on the research of foreign and Czech literature in the area of evaluation of water losses in water systems, evaluation and measurement of minimum night flow and comparison of values of individual indicators in the Czech Republic. In the practical part of the thesis, the minimum night flow is estimated and the water losses indicators are determined for selected DMA of Vsetin´s watter supply system, which is operated by VaK Vsetin, a.s.
Analysis of Water Consupmtion in Campus of FAST VUT Brno
Fogl, Jiří ; Menšík, Miroslav (referee) ; Tuhovčák, Ladislav (advisor)
The subject of the diploma thesis is the analysis of water consumption in the area of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Brno University of Technology. The main part of the thesis deals with the analysis of the measured data, which are recorded using a data logger located on the VF2 billing water meter. The processing of consumption curves is focused on individual working days, for days with or without instruction. From the results of the individual analyzes, maximum hourly limits are set for signaling of undesirable sampling states. In the end, the Smart Water Meters principle is introduced in the Czech Republic and abroad and a technical solution for the replacement of all billing water meters in the FAST area with new smart meters has been made.
Environmentální zhodocení sportovišť
Linhart, Martin
This diploma thesis concerning the Environmental Evaluation of Sports Grounds focuses on golf and ski resorts and the environmental impacts of their operation. The particular areas of interest chosen to be evaluated are Telč golf course, golf course Slav-kov u Brna, ski resort Harusák, and ski resort Nový Jimramov. I have chosen these ski areas in the Protected Landscape Area of Žďárské vrchy. In these particular areas I analysed the basic characteristics of the environmental conditions and then concentrated on factors affecting their surroundings and their living environment. Golf and ski resorts have one essential factor affecting the environment in common and that is the consumption of water during operation. I have considered this to be the most significant factor present in both kinds of the sports areas and therefore compared each area with one another to observe the water consumption variable.
Water consumption in selected subjects
Jedličková, Tereza ; Sucháček, Tomáš (referee) ; Kučera, Tomáš (advisor)
The aim of the theoretical part of the bachelor thesis is to define the basic concepts related to the need and consumption of water. The following terms are explained: average daily water demand, maximum daily and maximum hourly water demand. The thesis also deals with water flow measurement. Among other things several types of flow meters are described here. In the practical part of the bachelor thesis, water consumption and water prices are analyzed in three selected agricultural cooperatives. There are compared individual agricultural cooperatives. Part of the thesis is also the determination of the average value of water consumption per cow.
Analysis of Water Consumption
Pokorná, Denisa ; Ručka, Jan (referee) ; Tuhovčák, Ladislav (advisor)
The subject of the bachelor thesis is the processing of water consumption analysis in the area of building faculty. The bulk of the work is devoted to the evaluation of the data obtained by the smart metering system, which is currently only installed on the billing water meter number 2 located on Veveří Street. The Faculty of Civil Engineering is very interested in new trends and possibilities to more effectively measure water consumption. The conclusion of the thesis deals with the appropriate design of the alarm values of consumption and the possible counting of other water meters in the area and associated faster and more transparent information about the water consumption values. An integral part of the work and water consumption are general information on the need for water for which there are no up-to-date comprehensive methodologies to accurately determine it. Analyzing already measured data seems to be the most accurate way of determining it. Part of the thesis is also a chapter focused on the development of water consumption in our country as well as in comparison with abroad. At present, there is a decreasing trend in water needs that began in the 1990s.
Environmental assessment of the Czech Republic based on Water Footprint
Žlábková, Jana ; Hák, Tomáš (advisor) ; Vačkář, David (referee)
This dissertation sets its goal in application of the water footprint indicator, which is a practical and multi-layered indicator of water sources consumption. Of human activities, agriculture presents the most significant demands on water sources consumption. Therefore I have turned my focus to the widely-discussed issue of biofuels production, because the input materials for production of this kind of energy are agricultural crops (in the Czech republic those are: oilseed rape, sugar beet, Indian corn and winter wheat). The calculated results of water footprints of the selected industrial crops (m3 /t) and of water footprints of the heating value units of that crops (m3 /GJ) offer us a concrete notion of energy requirements of water of that chosen industrial crops in the conditions of the Czech republic. Keywords: water footprint indicator, biofuels, oilseed rape, water consumption, biodiesel, bioethanol, evapotranspiration.
Price elasticity of household water demand in Czech Republic
