How does gasoline stations in Czech republic react to change of crude oil price on commodity exchange?
Hrabalík, Ondřej ; Stroukal, Dominik (advisor) ; Vozárová, Pavla (referee)
Aim of this thesis was finding out whether there is asymmetry on gasoline market in Czech republic, which is common knowledge or if asymmetry is only illusion. With daily data about gasoline and diesel prices from CZ market and also daily Brent Crude Oil price, thesis tires to prove that there is no asymmetry on the market. Analysis was done with asymmetric error correction model and further testing of asymmetry with koeficients from ECM. Results yield that both gasoline and diesel markets show rather symmetrical reaction on entry price change. Asymmetry was proven only in few lags and final statement is that asymmetry on market in Czech republic is rather illusion then reality.
Differences in price elasticity of diesel and petrol
Kačiaková, Petra ; Mirvald, Michal (advisor) ; Babin, Jan (referee)
This survey examines and compares differences in price elasticity of demand for diesel and gasoline. The data chosen for analysis were in the form of monthly time series obtained from particular petrol station in Slovakia. Other exogenous variables possess regional character and consist of average wage, HDP and rate of unemployment for region Žilina and Banská Bystrica. Time period covered by the survey begins by October 2008 and finishes by October 2013. The method chosen for analysis was ordinary least squares, both static and dynamic models. The results confirmed hypothesis that stated the price elasticity of diesel to be more elastic with average result from dynamic model -2,463 than price elasticity of demand for petrol with average result from dynamic model -0,36.
Economical, operational and environmental comparison of Scania trucks using different types of fuels
Turek, Lukáš ; Novák, Radek (advisor) ; Koubek, Ondřej (referee)
This master work deals with different fuels for trucks Scania and it is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part describes the basic concepts related to the topic. The most important are associated with transport and transportation, categorization and types of vehicles, greening road transport or financing. Depending on the practical part it is also place great emphasis on selected types of fuels, their production and also their advantages and disadvantages. In the practical part is introduced Scania company and the products and services that the company offers. Furthermore, this section generally analyzes Scania offer of engines for different types of fuels, including technical recommendations. At the end of the practical part are described specific vehicles, which are compared from financial aspect, in terms of environmental impact and operational limitations. The aim of the study is to compare Scania trucks using diesel, biodiesel and CNG.
Price elasticity of demand for fuel in border area and its determinants
Vyšný, Martin ; Rod, Aleš (advisor) ; Slaný, Martin (referee)
This survey measures the price elasticity of demand for fuel. Using unique data set from a petrol station in north Bohemia, short-run demand was estimated as price inelastic, the long-run demand was estimated as price elastic. Fuel prices, population in the Free State of Saxony and excise tax in the Czech Republic are main determinants of the demand for fuel. The impact of new vehicles in Ústí nad Labem Region was not proved. A potential effect of tank tourism was estimated using a variable for the difference between fuel prices in observed petrol station and in Germany. Rise in the price difference by one euro cent leads to increase in gasoline demanded in the observed petrol station on average by 1,5 %, and by 2 % in diesel demanded.
Information system for costs index in truck transport
Pravlovský, Petr ; Chlapek, Dušan (advisor) ; Hromíř, Vojtěch (referee)
The topic of the thesis is costs in truck transport. There is analyzed theme Progress of costs in time, using indexes. The theoretical part is focused on the methodology for calculating the cost index published by the Czech Association of Road Carriers Česmad Bohemia and compared with several foreign indexes. The practical part has two objectives. The first focuses on the design of a new methodology that will be more accurate and reflect the true situation. The second objective of this methodology is to design basic informatics support, for both users, indexes users and persons, who are responsible for publishing these statistics. The summary points to the possibilities of alteration of the current designed index methodology and the potential for cooperation of Česmad Bohemia and Czech Statistical Office.
Prices of fuel and their regional deviations
Tampier, Filip ; Zeman, Jiří (advisor) ; Filipová, Alena (referee)
This bachelor thesis describes the fuel market in the Czech Republic and factors influencing the end price of fuel, sold on the market. In the research part, it examines the magnitude of long-term price deviations of fuel in different regions of Czech Republic and strives to discover their causes. The data needed to analyze these price deviations and their causes all comes from public online sources of both public and private institutions. Regression analysis on 5 % significance level is used for modeling. The analysis consists of two models, where the first one analyses statistical significance of regional price deviations using backward elimination method and the second one analyses the influence of chosen regional indicators on these price deviations. The results have shown, that in the long term, the price of gasoline and diesel differs from normal in seven and ten regions respectively. It was further proven with 95 % certainty, that 85 % of regional gasoline price deviations can be explained by seven regional indicators. However the model hasn't found any dependence between regional indicators and diesel price deviations.
