The study oxidative stress markers in animal model of chronic colitis in large intestine.
Hocková, Erika ; Němečková, Ivana (referee) ; Nachtigal, Petr (advisor)
Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis are both entities of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The nuclear transcription factor kappaB (NFκB) family consists of five different members, which are namely p65 (RelA), c-Rel, RelB, p50 and p52. NFκB has ability to promote the expression of various proinflammatory genes, to influence the course of mucosal inflammation and to mediate different cell-type specific effects. Bilirubin is an endogenous substance with anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory effects, which influences the process of inflammation and has protective effect. This diploma thesis was aimed at conduction of methods of NFκB detection on paraffine tissue slices and observation of NFκB expression in large intestine walls of normobilirubin and hyperbilirubin rats (Gunn's variety) after chronic imunohistochemically- induced inflammation. Eight Gunn's variety rats (G+ ) and eight Wistar's variety rats (K+ ) were used in this study, all after long time administration of dextrane-sulfate (DSS). For seven following days, DSS (in concentration of 2%w/v) was added into drinkable water for these rats, followed by 14 days of clear drinkable water (without DSS) administered to rats. This three-weeks long cycle was repeated twice (3 cycles in total were completed). Six rats of both varieties (6 G+ and 6...

Financial analysis of Spanish companies
Exlerová, Lenka ; Marek, Petr (advisor) ; Dufková, Eva (referee)
This thesis focuses on the financial analysis of selected industrial sectors in the Spanish economy. For the purposes of analysis the following indicators are used: return on assets, return on equity, inventory turnover, receivables and payables turnover ratios and trade gap derived from them. Then indicators of current ratio, acid test ratio, cash ratio and working capital are analyzed. Finally the thesis includes indicators of creditor's risk, interest coverage and total cost and expenses per revenues. A further part of the thesis is dedicated to the peculiarities of the Spanish economy and the studies of changes in the unemployment rate and gross domestic product. A significant part is devoted to particular sectors of economy. Spanish exports and imports are presented by means of the balance of payments. After interpretation of all calculated indicators the following conclusion has expressed: the best performing sectors are the manufacture of coke, refined petroleum products and nuclear fuel followed by sector of construction. On the other hand traditional Spanish fishing, fish farming and related service activities were found to be the worst performing sectors.

Artificial neural networks and their application in the assessment of insurance risks
Macek, Karel ; Jiroutek, Pavel (referee) ; Mrázová, Iveta (advisor)
The present work studies applicability of artificial neural networks in the assessment of insurance risk. Structure and function of multilayer perceptrons, Kohonen maps, Fuzzy ART networks, and Fuzzy ARTMAP networks are described. Concept of insurance risk is defined and the ratemaking by generalized linear models is introduced. Neural networks' methods for reduction of input space's dimension, knowledge extraction, and visualization are summed up. Data describing traffic accidents are acquainted and results achieved on them are presented. The work successfully demonstrates theoretically and experimentally that multilayer perceptrons approximate better than generalized linear models. Modification of multilayer perceptron estimated distribution function of total claim. Analysis performed by Kohonen map and by subsequent visualization detected two significant clusters. Analysis by Fuzzy ART network is presented as a part of new algorithm for reduction of input space's dimension. New algorithm inspired by Fuzzy ARTMAP network discovered a group of accidents where the claim is above average. This group is delimited by interpretable rules. Attached CD contains scripts for Matlab and MySQL that was used for mentioned analyses.

Trends in the Consumption of a chosen ATC Group A10AA (inhibitors HMG-CoA reductase) in the period 2005-2015 in the Czech Republic
Freimann, Antonín ; Lešetický, Ondřej (advisor) ; Železo, Eduard (referee)
The thesis deals with trends of drug consumption for the ATC group C10A (HMG-CoA reductase) in the Czech Republic in the years 2005 - 2015. The goal of this work is to analyse the consumption of statins (cholesterol lowering drugs), as well as to analyse the consumption trends (expressed in terms of prescribed daily doses) and subsequently explain the causes of the detected trends. The main method used in this work is the analysis and interpretation of data provided by the State Institute for Drug Control (SUKL). Individual consumption data sets are compared to each other and global trends are inferred based on the obtained results. In the practical part I analyse the consumption for the individual ATC groups according to their increasing lipid-lowering efficacy, according to the pharmaceutical companies involved and according to the experts' recommendations (within the framework of cardiovascular disease treatment). The conclusion of my work shows that the overall drug consumption for the the studied ATC group (given by the DDD/package total) was steadily increasing during the studied period while the consumption expressed in financial units was decreasing (ie. the financial burden on the health system was reduced). The total number of sold packages shows a slight decrease due to the sale of bigger packages with more powerful statins during the studied period.

Analysis of macro-economic and political situation of the United Kingdom in the European integration process.
Kotrs, Petr ; Prát, Šárka (advisor) ; Pělucha, Martin (referee)
The following paper focuses on determination of importance that United Kingdom had in the European integration process. The first part will cover key moments in rise of the United Kingdom as the world superpower. Second part contains detailed look on the situations, which led to an end of so-called splendid isolation and also to creating alliances with other countries. Third part is dedicated to the United Kingdom in the era of Margaret Thatcher because in that time United Kingdom had to recover from loss of its colonies and had to make important reforms in order to have a chance to be one of the most powerful countries once again. Last part of this paper focuses on the macroeconomic and politic analysis of the current United Kingdom using the basic macroeconomic indexes such as GDP per capita, unemployment rate and total GDP. This part also briefly mentions the so-called BREXIT.

Efficiency in the use of photovoltaic cells for energy production
Maršíková, Michaela ; Dvořák, Antonín (advisor) ; Hadrabová, Alena (referee)
Master's Thesis considers the idea of use of renewable energy sources for the generation of electricity. On the basis of reports on climate warming, the European Union took measures, which are mandatory for all Member States and aimed to increase the share of renewable energy in total energy production by 2010. Czech Republic has committed itself to produce 8% of energy from renewable energy sources, the government has created a system of subsidies to renewable energy sources and a system of redemption prices. These measures make energy very expensive. This work deals with the origin of these measures, which are reports on global warming. My work is also comparing predictions on the future status, as well as examining the advantages of investing in renewable energy sources and comparing the prices of subsidized energy with other types of energy.
