United Nations Security Council sanction lists : de-listing
Jakabová, Maja ; Trávníčková, Zuzana (advisor) ; Druláková, Radka (referee)
Targeted sanctions serve as a coercive tool to change behavior, or as a precautionary measure to prevent violations of international peace and security, as is the case of targeted sanctions against individuals and entities associated with terrorist acts. Targeted sanctions have become an important and frequently used tool in the global efforts of the UN in combating terrorism. The introduction of targeted sanctions, however, brought new questions associated with the status and rights of individuals in the regime of sanctions. Security Council imposing targeted sanctions significantly affects an individual's life, but does not provide an effective mechanism or means for its protection and thus violate his fundamental rights. In my work I analyze the implications arising for the persons and entities if they are wrongly listed, and what are their options for redress solicitation. The work is thus to analyze the current practice of United Nations sanctions regimes in the process of sanction lists, focusing on the human rights of listed individuals at the United Nations Security Council sanction list.

Diabetes mellitus in the population of seniors in residential institutions
Stellarová, Apolena ; Novák, František (advisor) ; Vařeka, Tomáš (referee)
The issue of nutrition is not an easy issue, and is even more demanding with respect to persons for whom it is necessary to take into account the Sénia. Moreover, if this period of life accompanies diabetes mellitus, significantly increasing the importance of nutrition. Diabetes mellitus is a disease that is now a very hot topic, because the figures showing the incidence of diabetes continues to rise and diabetes is becoming a disease of civilization. Bachelor thesis is divided into two parts. The theoretical part, which includes knowledge about diabetes mellitus and its treatment, but also deals with aspects of aging and life in residential facilities. In the practical part of me is contained examined the results. The target detection method was used quantitative survey. The questionnaire is designed to affect the possible disparity in attitudes of both groups of respondents. The process has been used quite satisfactory 110 completed questionnaires. The questionnaire contained questions about diet, diabetes mellitus, awareness of seniors, but also the drinking regime and physical activity. It was also used for target detection protocol, which included questions about diet, staffing and implementation of education in each of the 11 residential facilities. The survey was directed so as to achieve...

Engaging pre-school children in research: design and evaluation of participatory methods
Lněnička, Ondřej ; Přívratský, Vladimír (advisor) ; Vančata, Václav (referee)
The modern world is focused on children. We care much more about the right regime of our children, about hygiene and other aspects of their daily routine. So it is not surprising that many scientists start their recent projects on or with children. Anthropology is not an exception. This study creates a smaller part of a larger sleep research study which aims to investigate whether two community based social marketing campaigns influence parents' view of pre-school children sleep requirements and healthy sleep practices. This work targets directly pre-school children and wants to determine if we are able to educate children about healthy and right sleeping habits through specifically performed game based activities. The main aim of this study is to find out which games are useful for enhancing the results of the supreme Medical Anthropology research. Secondary aim is to solve what we can generally do for a better engagement of children in our research.

Comparison of contemporary terrorism with terrorism of 1970s and 1980s
Knytlová, Petra ; Mlejnek, Josef (advisor) ; Charvát, Jan (referee)
The thesis deals with terrorism and its development as a social phenomenon since 1970s. It has argued that terrorism has undergone a process of radicalization and globalization, particularly as a result of the changed international situation and proliferation of modern technology. Nationalistic terrorism has been replaced with a global form of terrorism. In a similar vein, revolutionist ideologies, typical for terrorist groups of 1970s and 1980s, has given a way to radical interpretations of religions, namely Islamism, which has received substantial popularity as a result of prevailing grievances of the Muslim world. Even though there is no clear distinction between the old and the new form of terrorism, the two social phenomena differ to an important extent. During the second half of 20th century leftist terrorist groups dominated the scene with their fight for a regime change and battle against capitalism as well as imperialism. The organization of the groups took the form of hierarchy and had only limited number of members. At the beginning of the new millennium, the situation changed dramatically with the proliferation of Islamic groups, including the global terrorist group al-Qaeda. The groups work without a formal power structure and are able to hit targets anywhere in the world, as the...

Bioanalytical evaluation of novel drug candidates from the group of thiosemicarbazones I.
Šesták, Vít ; Kovaříková, Petra (advisor) ; Kučera, Radim (referee)
Charles University in Prague Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of pharmaceutical chemistry and drug analysis Candidate: Vít Šesták Supervisor: PharmDr. Petra Kovaříková, PhD. Title of the Master's Thesis: Bioanalytical assessment of new prospective drugs derived from thiosemicarbazone I. Abstract Development of novel anti-cancer drugs which would boost current therapeutic regimes and/or overcome the resistance against common chemotherapy ranks among the most progressive fields of modern drug discovery. Selective targeting of intracellular iron (Fe) has been recognized as a new strategy for anti-cancer drug development. Biocompatible Fe chelators structurally derived from thiosemicarbazone belong to the most intensively studied anti-cancer agents. Apart from Triapine, currently in phase II of a clinical trial, the systematic investigation led to development of a new generation of iron chelators - di-2-pyridylketone thiosemicarbazones (DpTs). Based on the outcomes of numerous in vitro and in vivo experiments and di-2-pyridylketone-4,4-dimethyl-3-thiosemicarbazone (Dp44mT) was selected as the lead compound for further development. The aim of this study was to develop an LC-MS method for the analysis of Dp44mT and its main phase I metabolites in biological materials (plasma, urine and faeces)....

Regular Trainings for Nurses as an Integral Part of Preparation for Accreditation Survey.
MATĚJČKOVÁ, Marie
Regular trainings are to ensure an employee maintains or enhances his/her knowledge and skills he/she needs to do his/her job and for his/her professional development. Therefore quality regular trainings are one of the conditions for successful accreditation survey, too. In order to reach our survey targets we have chosen a qualitative research method, we used an anonymous questionnaire intended for all nurses working at the standard departments and at the Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care (ARIP) at Šumperk Hospital a.s. We have defined two goals. The first goal is to find out what the extent of the regular trainings for nurses is. The other goal is to find out the nurses{\crq} level of knowledge of the issues of cardiopulmonary resuscitation, occupational safety and health, and hygiene regime. Both goals have been fulfilled by obtaining the results of the research. Six hypotheses have been defined. The first hypothesis that the nurses are trained in the issue of cardiopulmonary resuscitation at least once a year was confirmed with table No. 21. The second hypothesis whether the nurses are trained in occupational safety and health at least once a year was confirmed with table No. 35, too. Even the third hypothesis that the nurses are trained in hygiene regime at least once a year was confirmed with table No. 50. The success rate of answering questions on the issue of cardiopulmonary resuscitation was 85.5 % which confirmed the fourth hypothesis that the nurses know the principles of cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The success rate of answering questions on the issue of occupational safety and health was 57.9 % which did not confirmed the fifth hypothesis that the nurses know the principles for occupational safety and health. And the success rate of answering questions on the issue of hygiene regime was 57.7 % which did not confirmed the sixth hypothesis that the nurses are aware of the principles for the issue of hygiene regime. The results of the research obtained for the bachelor thesis will be provided to Šumperk Hospital a.s. for internal purposes to improve the quality of these regular trainings.

Behavioural patterns of heifers under intensive and extensive continuous grazing on species-rich pasture in the Czech Republic
Hejcmanová, Pavla ; Frynta, Daniel (referee)
Thesis: Behavioural patterns of heifers under intensive and extensive continuous grazing on species-rich pasture in the Czech Republic Author: doc. Mgr. Pavla Hejcmanová, Ph.D. Abstract The consumption of food is one of the most fundamental activities in all animals and takes its ultimate part in maximizing an animal's inclusive fitness. Foraging response mechanisms issue essentially from animal intrinsic characteristics, animal's cognitive abilities and environment, namely quantity and quality of available food resources. Understanding of animal's foraging decisions is not possible without the knowledge of other types of behaviour and factors they affect it. Therefore, the aim of the investigation was to evaluate heifers' behavioural pattern on species-rich semi-natural pasture under a continuous intensive (IG) and extensive (EG) grazing regime as this is currently the most extensive management system employed in central Europe. Ten or eight (IG), and six or four (EG) heifers were continuously stocked in two completely randomized blocks from June to late September in 1998, 1999, 2000, 2006 and 2007. Swards were maintained at a target height of 5 and 10 cm, respectively. Grazing, ruminating, resting, and other activities were monitored during 24-hour observations, and grazing, chewing and ruminating rates...

Rheumatic fever and its pharmacotherapy
Davidová, Kristýna ; Mladěnka, Přemysl (advisor) ; Vokřál, Ivan (referee)
Charles University in Prague Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology Candidate: Kristýna Davidová Supervisor: Dr. Mladěnka Přemysl, Ph.D. Title of thesis: Rheumatic fever and its pharmacotherapy Rheumatic fever (RH) is a systemic inflammatory disease occurring as a result of untreated tonsillopharyngitis caused by β-haemolytic streptococcus of group A. It is an autoimmune response, which leads to the production of antibodies against bacterial antigens, which also recognize human targets which are similar to M protein in the wall of the β-hemolytic streptococci and thus damage human tissue as well. Disease affects many organs such as joints, central nervous system, subcutaneous tissue and skin, but leaves lasting effects only on the heart. Usually not all symptoms are present, carditis and chorea are more common in children, arthritis in adults. Chronic rheumatic heart disease as a consequence of rheumatic carditis is associated with high morbidity and mortality in developing countries, where its incidence is the highest. There is no specific treatment for RH. We use only symptomatic treatment or preventive tools. Regime measures, including bed rest are also important in the case of acute rheumatic fever (ARH). Symptomatically, we use salicylates for ARH...

Plasma-jet systems - experiment and model
Rubovič, Peter ; Kudrna, Pavel (advisor) ; Hubička, Zdeněk (referee)
In the present work we study the ow of working gas through a plasmajet system. In this work we describe the basic principle of hollow cathode discharge and its use for technological applications, mainly for thin layers coating. One of the important parameters during the deposition is the speed of the working gas ow and with it the sputtered target material towards the substrate. Because of the reproducibility and precision of the experiments it is important to know the relation between the working gas ow and external parameters of the experiment, e.g. ow of the gas and the pressure in the chamber. This is the reason why measurements of ions velocity using Langmuire electrostatic probe and pulse regime of plasmajet were done. Measured data are compared with a computer model, which was developed in this work. This model describes the ow of the working gas by solving Navier-Stokes equation for compressible Newtonian uids. The results of this model are compared with results from the paper describing the ow through the hollow cathode. It shows good agreement inside the cathode. The model is giving dierent results when comparing to measured data which are from the area outside the cathode. Part of the model description is a discussion of the temperature dependence of the ow.

Approach towards children entering the primary education at the international school operating under British National Curriculum
Balážová, Eva ; Opravilová, Eva (referee) ; Kropáčková, Jana (advisor)
The thesis "Approach towards children entering the primary education at the international school operating under British National Curriculum" is assessing topics like school readiness and school maturity of a child. The primary goal of this paper is to present approaches, attitudes and positions of the British National Curriculum on the topic connected with a turning point in the life of a child - the entry to the primary school - compare them with the Czech educational system and based on this comparison seek inspiration for the teaching practice. The practical part of the thesis presents the contents and targets of the British educational system for pre-school education in a common day-to-day regime of an international school and maps the parent opinion on the importance of the institutional pre-school education in the preparation of a child for the first grade in the primary school.
