The Jihlava River historical winter floods and their geomorphic efficiency
Hrádek, Mojmír
Till the last flood from March 2006 35 floods was registered and twenty nine of them was winter floods. Historical records of their geomorphic efficiency was compared with that of last. It is confirmed that geomorphic efficiency some of them from the little ice age was bigger.
The relations among the distribution of prevailing winds in the winter Northern Hemisphere, solar/geomagnetic activity and QBO phase
Bochníček, Josef ; Hejda, Pavel
The effect of solar/geomagnetic activity on the distribution of prevailing winds in the winter Northern Hemisphere was analysed in the winter periods of the years 1964-2001. It was found out, that while the strengthening of zonal flow over the winter North Atlantic was associated with high solar as well as geomagnetic activity, the occurrence of the meridional flow over the winter North Atlantic was associated with low solar activity only.
Formation of the new Government of Czechs and Slovaks in the beginning of 1945
Kocian, Jiří
Political and personal makeup of the new Government of Czechs and Slovaks was decided in the winter months of 1945 during negotiations between Czechoslovak exile representatives based in London and Moscow respectively.
Causes of long-term increase in concentrations of dissolved organic matter in Římov Reservoir
Hejzlar, Josef ; Kopáček, Jiří ; Porcal, Petr ; Haider, Z.
The concentration of dissolved organic matter (DOM) has increased in Rimov Reservoir since the late 1980s. Two main reasons were revealed for this increase: (i) an increase of DOM concentrations in the reservoir inflow that has been caused by more frequent summer high-runoff and DOM-rich events, and (ii) an increase in temperature and surface runoff volumes during winter months. The effects of decreasing atmospheric acid deposition and changes in farmland practices in the catchment also cannot be excluded as the other sources for the increase.
Analysis of the relation between geomagnetic activity and the phase of the North Atlantic Oscillation
Bochníček, Josef ; Hejda, Pavel ; Pýcha, Josef
The North Atlantic Oscillation is considered to be a very robust phenomenon. The analysis of tropospheric pressure and temperature deviations from their long-term averages realised on the data set of winter (January-March) periods 1963-2001, as well as wind deviations from their long-term averages pointed at close association between high geomagnetic activity and the positive NAO phase.
The occurrence of warm and cold days during two centuries in Prague-Klementinum
Střeštík, Jaroslav
On the basis of observations in Prague-Klementinum since 1775 the course of the average daily air temperature in summer and winter season has been presented. In the same way the course of maximal temperatures in the day and minimal temperatures in the night, separately for summer and winter, are also given.
Solar and geomagnetic activity effects on wind fields in the Northern hemisphere winter lower troposhere
Bochníček, Josef ; Hejda, Pavel
The magnitude and prevailing direction of winds in the lower troposphere were analysed in the Northern hemisphere in the winter periods of the years 1964, 1967-1969, 1971-2001. Composite maps of those winds showed marked differences, in particular between the maps in which both activities were simultaneously low or high.
Solar-geomagnetic activity and weather changes. Observation results
Bochníček, Josef ; Hejda, Pavel ; Pýcha, Josef
The impact of solar and geomagnetic activity on pressure and temperature changes in the winter lower troposphere was investigated. It was found that although correlations between solar and geomagnetic activity in individual winter periods are weak, the pressure and temperature changes show similar magnitudes.
Association among the QBO, geomagnetic/solar activity and winter air pressure changes in the Northern Hemisphere
Bochníček, Josef ; Hejda, Pavel ; Pýcha, Josef
Analysis of the sea-level pressure changes in winter periods (January + February) 1952-1996 showed their close association with the QBO-phase and solar and geomagnetic activity level. The importance of individual activities for analyzed changes is evaluated and the mechanism that could explain the analyzed processes is described.
Comparison of ski resorts in the Czech republic and France
Vejvoda, Tomáš ; Petrů, Zdenka (advisor) ; Herget, Jan (referee)
Goal of the thesis has been deep analysis of winter ski resorts in the Czech republic and France and finding an optimal ski resort for a week holiday. Set of criterias important for average czech skier for selection of a resort was designed accordingly to the results of a survey made on sample of czech population. Supplementary goal is to prove a hypothesis that rather than the size of a resort, the quality and scope of services (not only ski-related) really matters.
