Přestože severoatlantická oscilace (NAO) bývá považována za robustní meteorologický fenomén, analýza tlakových a teplotních troposférických polí v zimních obdobích (leden-březen) let 1963-2001, spolu s analýzou převládajících větrů vanoucích v troposféře v zimních obdobích let 1964, 1967-1969, 1971-2001 ukázala na neopominutelnou souvislost mezi úrovní geomagnetické aktivity a fází NAO. The North Atlantic Oscillation is considered to be a very robust phenomenon. The analysis of tropospheric pressure and temperature deviations from their long-term averages realised on the data set of winter (January-March) periods 1963-2001, as well as wind deviations from their long-term averages pointed at close association between high geomagnetic activity and the positive NAO phase.
