The effects of zinc ions on breast tissue cancerogenesis
Kratochvílová, Monika ; Stiborová, Marie (referee)
The concept of breast cancer describes a wide range of serious diseases. It is one of the most common cancer diseases among women worldwide. The most difficult and problematic subtype is the triple negative breast cancer. This subtype is characteristic by the loss of expression of hormon receptors and HER-2, which makes it unresponsive to available targeted therapy. The breast cancer, as well as other malignancies, has a relationship withzinc ions. Zinc is an essencial element and it is involved in many of important cellular processes and thus it is able to directlyor indirectly affect the cancerogenesis. Increased levels of zinc ions in malignant breast cancer tissue compared to healthy tissue were well described. However, zinc has documented anticancer properties. The aim of this study was to determine if excessive suplementation with zinc ions has an effect on breast cancer development in vivo. The cell line 4T1 was chosen as a model of the triple negative subtype in mus musculus. The mouse strain BALB/c was used as an animal model. A total dose of zinc sulphate per one gram of mouse weight used in the experiment was 0.15 mg. We determined not only the growth of primary tumour, but also an expression levels of selected genes and antioxidant capacity of the whole organism. The volume of primary...

Methanol affair in the czech media
Kolátorová, Lucie ; Šoltys, Otakar (advisor) ; Zezulková, Markéta (referee)
This thesis deals with the medialization of public health-threatening events associated with the methanol affair, which appeared in Czech republic in September 2012. Analytical part first outlines the methodological basis and consequently represents the outputs of quantitative and qualitative research. The quantitative part mainly describes how much space was in the examined newspapers provided with the affair, what kind of sub-themes were most accented, how much importance was over time attributed to the affair, what the motives were displayed in the published photographs, to what extent was preserved news neutrality of published headlines. The qualitative part of the research focuses on the linguistic tools used in articles in term of neutrality, on non-verbal expression tools and in detail illustrates how the examined newspapers reported about specific events associated with the methanol affair.

The use of laser microdissection for the genotyping of biological material isolated during an abortion.
Beranová, Karina ; Krátký, Martin (advisor) ; Kopečný, Michal (referee)
The use of laser microdissection for the genotyping of biological material isolated during an abortion Abstract In forensic genetics laser microdissection is used mainly as a method of cell separation from samples of mixed biological traits of sexually motivated crimes. It can also be used in paternity testing via genotyping of biological material isolated during an abortion. The foetal part of placenta is separated from the acquired samples and a pure DNA profile of the foetus is determited. This DNA can be compared to the suspect's DNA. The goal of this project is the application of laser microdissection to separate chorionic villi from a placenta and the subsequent genetic analysis leading to the determination of a pure foetal DNA profile. A secondary goal was the preparation and optimization of the method necessary for its introduction to forensic practice. In the first phase the optimization of the sample preparation was conducted on test sections of muscular tissue and epithelial cells from a buccal swap. Experimental material acquired during abortions of voluntary donors was used in the second phase. This technique was simultaneously tested on material directly linked to criminal acts. The separation of 10 chorionic villi cells with the method of laser microdissection eventually resulted in the...

The aim is to prove that the results comply with the OECD statistics saying that the tax burden difference between those two states is approximately the same. The fractional aim is to examine if the tax burden for the same family with the above-average employment income in the United States is much higher that it can be one of the motives why people enter or leave different labour markets. The second case study focuses on the differences in the taxation of the different tax return categories of the taxpayers and confirms the theory that the average benefit of 450 USD per year appears with taxpayers filing the married filing jointly tax return. The impact of motherhood on retirement benefits
Šatava, Jiří
In our analysis, we have attempted to quantify the negative impact of motherhood and parenthood on women’s retirement benefit amount, which is linked to the impact of motherhood on the mothers’ wages and employment. We have calculated that motherhood and parenthood reduces women’s retirement benefits by an average of several hundred Czech crowns per month. This is caused both by lower employment and lower earnings due to parenthood. However, the average reduction in women’s retirement benefits due to parenthood never exceeds 8 percent, even if the impact of parenthood on women’s career were twice that shown in the data.

Jak velikost habitatu ovlivňuje společenstvo koprofilního hmyzu?
ZÍTEK, Tomáš
The effect of dung pat size on structure of dung inhabiting insect community was studied in Central Europe. Specifically all insect inhabiting the dung pat was targeted including both beetle and fly families. Abundance and species richness were positively correlated with increasing habitat volume. Density was negatively correlated with habitat size which represents low density refugee effect. Temporally co-occurring species which utilize the resource in similar way were separated by preferences for different habitat volumes.

Weiss, Tomáš ; Pikhart, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Pekárek, Štěpán (referee)
The thesis is concerned with the influence of the income from oil industry on the economies of Algeria and the United Arab Emirates in the years 2000-2015. The topic is analysed from the point of view of the resource curse theory. This theory is defined as a negative relationship between excess of a non-renewable resource and economic performance. Alongside with the negative economic growth, the experts defined other factors linked to the resource curse. The method used in the thesis is an analysis of these indicators on the example of Algeria and the UAE, and subsequently the dangers of resource curse are identified. The thesis evaluates, based on the comparison of the performance of selected factors, the economical and institutional development of the chosen countries. In the conclusion the diversification efforts of the UAE in the economic field and relatively safe economic development of Algeria are commented. More or less positive tendencies may be observed also in the development of most of the institutional indicators of both countries.
