Works by Otakar Ševčík in the Context of Modern Violin Pedagogy.
Vlk, Matěj ; Perglerová, Marka (referee) ; Kubátová, Gabriela (advisor)
This M.A. thesis is focused on the personality and work of the Czech violin teacher Otakar Ševčík (1852 - 1934). An introductory historical part describes Ševčík, the individual, based on biographical information and notes from his own students. The following chapters analyze his most relevant works from the point of view of contemporary pedagogical practice. Included are suggestions for the use of this material. This thesis also analyses his work as a whole and describes characteristic features of Ševčík's method. To conclude, Ševčík's influence on world violin pedagogy is summarized.

Huehuetlatolli - moral lessons not only of the old Aztecs
Deylová, Iva ; Křížová, Markéta (advisor) ; Korecká, Zuzana (referee)
The diploma thesis "Huehuetlatolli - moral lessons not only of the old Aztecs" examines this rather unknown genre of Nahua literature from various viewpoints. The original form of these probably only orally transmitted traditions is nowadays known due to the records made by two Spanish Franciscan missionaries Andrés de Olmos and Bernardino de Sahagún. Both of them started showing interest in the indigenous cultures and traditions immediately after arriving in the area of the present Mexico at the beginning of the colonization period. The analysis presented in this work is based on the Volume VI of the book Historia general de las cosas de Nueva Espaa written by Bernardino de Sahagún. The introductory chapters offer a rather general description of Nahua culture and its relationship to the most famous pre-Columbian ethnic group - the Aztecs. This information was largely obtained through the study of texts of both Mexican and foreign scholars such as Ángel María Garibay, Miguel León-Portilla, Markéta Křížová, and others. The text also mentions how the missionaries Andrés de Olmos and Bernardino de Sahagún collected the texts. I also provide arguments why I chose texts edited by Bernardino de Sahagún as a source of this thesis. Additionally, it was also important to classify and mention the main characteristics...

Ancient-DNA analysis of teeth and skeletal remains with utilization of miniSTR loci.
Kvítková, Dana ; Brouček, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Dobisíková, Miluše (referee)
During the last twenty years, immense progress occurred in the area of analysis of DNA extracted from historical material. Considering the common level of preservation of tissue material, this analysis is usually executed on samples procured from bones and teeth. The analysis of soft mummified tissue is possible only in rare cases. Limiting factor of these analyses is a high degree of degradation and small amount of DNA extractable from this kind of material. First researches concentrated only on short sections of mainly mitochondrial DNA. Today, the analysis of the complete mitochondrial genome of both contemporary and extinct organisms was made possible. In case of analyses conducted on human remains, sections of nuclear DNA are far more valuable, because they can reveal information including not only subject's sex, but also possible kinship between subjects found e.g. in the same grave. Fundamental component of the whole analysis is the process of extracting DNA from cells. Probably every laboratory working with historical DNA uses a differently modified extract protocol. The main requirement for methods of extraction is to secure enough DNA with such a level of purity that would allow its use for following steps of the analysis. Taking in consideration high fragmentation of DNA, it is necessary...

Determinating the cosmological omega factors with supernovae Ia
Rieb, Tomáš ; Jungwiert, Bruno (referee) ; Mészáros, Attila (advisor)
My thesis is an attempt to determine cosmological omega factors using the data measured during observations of the supernovae type Ia with cosmological redshift z 0,1. For the determination of omega factors I use the method of fi tting measured data in Hubble s diagram. I evaluate the ts by the 2-tests. The values of omega factors, coming out of the analyses as the most probable ones di ffer from the results which are published in the contemporary scienti c literature. The question which I am posing is, if it is correct to reject the cosmological models with a zero value of the cosmological constant. At the first sight statistical results of 2-test, which issue from my thesis, seem to be su fficient enough to reject these models. But the denial of the zero cosmological constant appears as ambivalent by detailed analysis of the occasions and reasons for it. As the basis for my analyses, I use the data collected by a number of scientifi c teams. I cannot succesfully fi t most of these data, because the dispersions of their positions in Hubble s diagrams are too large. I can conclude that the observations of the supernovae Ia alone are not satisfactory for a reliable determination of the cosmological omega factors.

Matter of Totalitarism in Hannah Arendt's Works
Horáčková, Ludmila ; Jirásková, Věra (referee) ; Stracený, Josef (advisor)
The aim of the bachelor's thesis as well as its primary source is the book The O, igins of Totalitarianism by a German philosopher and political thinker Hannah Arendt. The thesis deals with questions of Nazism and Stalinism as two main totalitarian regimes of the fírst half of the 20,h century. It compares their historical and ideological basis, their évolution and detailed structure. It also deals with historical-political events that enabled their rise on the political scene. In terms of their similarities it describes the main characteristics of totalitarianism and at the same time it tries to give an overall insight into this political phenomena as well as the possibility of its application within contemporary and future social and political situation.

Using XML technologies to apply design patterns
Hála, Vojtěch ; Zavoral, Filip (referee) ; Bednárek, David (advisor)
Although contemporary programming style involves massive use of design patterns, programming languages does not offer suitable means tu support their application. Aim of this work is to show in practice that modern XML technologies, namely XSL Transformations, allow developers to avoid some routine tasks required by the objective language itself. This reduces the probability of errors, allows developers to focus on the key parts of the design, and makes maintaining the code markedly easier. These benefits come to light especially in large projects with hundreds to thousands of classes with complicated relations. In this Thesis we demonstrate these ideas on an example of a C++ compiler project.

Social services and the role of non-governmental organisation in social security
Havlínová, Monika ; Koldinská, Kristina (advisor) ; Procházková, Eva (referee)
In my essay I focused especially on the new Act on Social Services, which came into force on January 1, 2007 and replaced a regulation coming even from the time of communism. For a long time the previous regulation wasn't corresponding to the development of contemporary society, its needs and trends in social services, which were brought along with the revolutionary year 1989. A new law was called after by professional public, and also by the very beneficiaries of social services. The new law has been awaited for a very long time, probably longer than it had originally been expected. For a long period a way which the new regulation should take, couldn't be found; adoption process was also complicated due to the political situation. Many discussions took place about a new law. Themes that can be included in the area of social services are now more up-to-date than ever before. It is a topic that touches many of us, sometimes even more than we would like. For this reason I chose this issue for my thesis. At the beginning of my essay I am dealing with historical development of social services. Namely, from the first references to them in the antiquity, through their concept in the Middle Ages to the first efforts for comprehensive legal regulation. Only in the context of and with the knowledge of historical...

The Continuous Evolution of the Authorship Author's Position in the Age of New Media
Jurášová, Mária ; Marcelli, Miroslav (advisor) ; Šafaříková, Radana (referee)
Diploma thesis The Continuous Evolution of the Authorship - Author's Position in the Age of New Media relates the authorship question, examining its evolution phases with a emphasis on production in the age of digital media. It surveys authorship theories in western culture from ancient Greece to present days and outlines literary, philosophical, economic and semiotic aspects of authorship phenomenon. The theory of intertexuality represents the headstone for theorizing contemporary understanding of the author and his positioning in the sphere of new media. The work further analyses the characteristics of digital society, space of flows and the author's new possibilities brought by the evolution of new media and hypertext, especially describing the collaborative production and it also concerns the copyright problem and its alternatives.

The influence of the taxation on donating to non-profit organizations
Špetla, Ondřej ; Slintáková, Barbora (advisor) ; Klazar, Stanislav (referee)
The thesis examines the influence of the tax deduction by reason of granting the donation on the taxpayers' behavior. The examination is working with Household Expenditure Survey (2004, 2005) of Czech Statistical Office and with author's own questionnaire survey (2007). In the first part the regression of demographical and economic characteristics on the amount of donation and its probability is run. There are the internal opinions of informant according to the filled questionnaire described in the second part. The regression was processed using Logit, Probit and Tobit models; the following section consists of frequency analysis.
