Process of treatment in therapeutic community WHITE LIGHT I. from clients perspective

In the thesis I focused on a process of residential treatment in a therapeutic community. Such a process is mostly divided into four stages in all therapeutic communities in the CR where different needs and tasks are required from clients. The procedure in the treatment process is evaluated by the group as well as by staff. The fulfillment of criteria in each phase is a condition needed for shifting the clients in the treatment process towards successful completion of treatment. These phases are clearly defined by therapists and clients are acquainted with them through the operating manual. The aim of the thesis is to describe the process of treatment and common elements with regard to how it is perceived and experienced by the clients during the treatment in the therapeutic community WHITE LIGHT I. Using methods of prospective study helps to describe the process of treatment and then divide it according to the common elements into ,,phases" as they are perceived by the clients themselves, and compare them with formally stated phases of treatment in the TC. Ex-Users: The benefits and the hazards of working with drug addicts

This bachelor thesis is devoted to ex-users, who after a successful recovery from drug addiction started to devote their time working in organizations that help drug addicts. In the theoretical part, I start to explain the basic overview of the addiction. This includes the type of drugs used, how they are administered and the effects they have on individuals. I also chart the different options available in the treatment of drug addiction. The larger part of the thesis delves into the therapeutic treatments available and places particular emphasis on treatment in therapeutic community as well as what are the expected qualities of the therapist. I have collated a lot of informations from different experts in their field on the effects of the addition on drug addicts. The research part of the thesis is based on interviews with ex-users who work with drug addicts. It looks to ascertain what the benefits are and the risks involved in working with drug addicted clients. The research also looks to find what motivates an ex-users to work with addicted clients, how they view their own addiction and if any lessons are being learned from their encounters. The Ritual at Successful Completion of Addiction Treatment in Therapeutic Community from the Perspective of Clients at different Phases

Rituals can be described as ceremonial acts, that have typical rules and own significance. They have their place not only for substance abusers within therapeutic communities, but in a daily life also. Usually, rituals are bonded to traditions of a specific community and they provide a possibility for an individual to identify with this community. They provide also strong emotional experience and they concern spiritual parts of the individual as well. The main objective of this study is to provide a possible view of clients of each stages of final ritual in specific therapeutic community and to find out how it is perceived and valued in a case of a given attitude on their process of own treatment. The elaborated work is focused on emotions which are experienced by clients, whether and in a case how they sense the person, to whom is the ritual addressed, and how they sense therapists and objects which are used during the ritual. In the elaborated work is used a qualitative approach. Data were collected by individual semi-structured interviews. The sample was chosen by a method of intended choice via an institution, it is consisted of therapeutic community White Light I clients, which were present in the community at that time and simultaneously participated on the leaving ritual in this community....
Using Experiential learning in work with drug addicted youth

This dissertation deals with the use of experiential learning in the work with drug-addicted youth. Theoretical part of my dissertation defines concept of experience, experiential learning and therapeutic community. In the practical part I firstly map organizations in the Czech Republic, which are working with drug-addicted youth, using experiential learning. Then, secondly, in two already mentioned organizations I am undertaking interviews with therapists and clients, recognizing the benefits they find in the experiential programs.
Use of bibliotherapy with drug addicted people

This work named 'The use of bibliotherapy in people with drug addiction' deals with bibliotherapy in specific kind of people who are drug addicts. In the work is shown theoretical knowledge of the problems with drug addiction, the issues of bibliotherapy and the experience in usually used techniques of bibliotherapy with the drug-addicted people. The work also contains lists of appropriate literature with the topic of addiction from a different perspective. The main aim of this work is to suggest suitable techniques which can help to drug-addicted people using the bibliotherapy. These techniques are not tested in practice. Treatment of addiction in therapeutic community from client's perspective

The aim of my work is to find out of how do residents of therapeutic community (TC) Fénix in Bílá Voda perceive process of treatment of their dependence and services delivered. Also it has been inquired how do they assess effective therapeutic factors used in the process of their treatment in TC (Kooyman, 1993), and how do they comply with abstinence maintenance after treatment completion. Research sample consists out of residents of TC for users in final phase of their treatment who finished their treatment in the first half of 2011 and ex-residents of programme (n = 7). Research has been done with the use of qualitative approach. Data have been collected with the use of semi-structured interviews and consequently analyzed with the use of coding method. In theoretical part definition of therapeutic community for treatment of persons with drug dependence is being discussed. Further, brief history and development of this treatment modality in the world as well as in the Czech Republic is described. Comparison of principles and forms of therapeutic communities for people dependent on addictive substances in the Czech Republic (with special focus on spiritual aspects in treatment)

This bachelor thesis deals with types of therapeutic communities for drug addicts in the Czech Republic. The aim of the thesis is to map these communities and determine whether or not the treatment provided by them also includes spiritual aspects. Furthermore, if they do, what form they are presented in and what kinds of benefits it Brings for the treatment itself. The paper is divided into two sections - theoretical and empirical. The theoretical section explains terms that are important to get well acquainted with as they are closely related to the topic, such as drug addiction, treatment, communities in general, therapeutic communities and the different therapeutical methods the communities in the Czech Republic make use of. Following is the empirical section that further details goals of the research, the specimen and the research methods. Finally, an important part of this section is also dedicated to the research findings themselves.
The Ritual at Successful Completion of Addiction Treatment in Therapeutic Community from the Perspective of Client

The aim of the work is to describe (using the observation) the rite after successfull finishing of the treatment of drug addiction in a therapeutic community and to find out how the client, who has finished the treatment this way, perceives this rite. The work directs particularly at what emotions he has experienced, if and how he has sensed his surroundings and the rite subjects used during the rite. The rites could be characterized as the ceremonial acts which have their rules and meaning. They satisfy needs of emotional experiences and the spirituality of the individual, they are connected to traditions of a specific community and the give to the individual a possibility to identify himself to the community.The therapeutic community uses a plentiful amount of rites, particularly because of the motives mentioned above. The research assemblage is formed by the client of the therapeutic community for drug addicted, who has finished the rite for the succesful finishing of his treatment. In the practical part was used the qualitative approach, collecting of the data was accomplished from of the semi-structured interview and the data were assessed afterwards by the form of the analysis of the interview. The work focuses on the emergence of therapeutic communities for drug addicts in the Czech Republic. Describes the history of addiction treatment in 1989 and subsequently the emerging system of care for drug addicts in 1989. It charts the evolution of the concept of therapeutic community and using the oral history brings experience and individual stories of each of the founders of therapeutic communities.
