The Taiwan-China economic relationship

This thesis summarizes the development of economic relations between the PRC and Taiwan with an emphasis on the last three decades. The main objective is to answer the question of how the development of the political status of Taiwan affected the economic relations with the PRC and what the consequences for both countries are.
The role of Chinese diplomacy in contemporary international relations

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to characterize Chinese diplomacy and its position in the area of International relations. Chosen theoretical basis from the area of diplomatic studies and the area of cultural analysis correspond with the main goal of the thesis. The paper is thematically divided into three chapters, where the first one is focused on the definition of theoretical basis from the area of cultural studies and on the analysis of Chinese foreign policy, the method of literary research and analysis is used here. In the second chapter, the value orientation and paradigmatic principles of Chinese society is specified. The third chapter comprises of the synthesis and of a case study that verifies its conclusion.
Growing petroleum consuption in China as threat to its energy security

The aim of this thesis is to investigate the way that growing demand for oil in China will influence the nation's energy security in its various aspects until year 2035. It is shown, that growing oil consumption in China is an irreversible trend that significantly endangers energy security both in the long-term and the short-term aspect. Consequently, author recommends steps that could eliminate or moderate those threats. Recommendations are than compared to actual policies of the Chinese government. The thesis reveals that China is making an effort to minimize risks to energy security by upgrading its domestic resilience and by using so called Oil diplomacy to secure its present and future petroleum imports. However, as insufficient were proved to be actions to preserve the environment.
Chinese pension schemes: reforms and challenges

This thesis covers the development of pension schemes in the People's Republic of China from 1949 until now. The goal is to explain what is the structure of chinese pension schemes, why are the pension schemes divided between rural and urban areas and how are the migrant workers' pension schemes incorporated into the social security system. Furthermore the reforms and challenges of the current pension system are analysed as well as the linkage to the hukou reform and family planning reform.
The Implications of Family Planning Policies on the Growth of Chinese Economy

Apart from rapid economic growth, China has also experienced significant demographic changes over the past few decades. The People's Republic of China's family planning policies led to a sharp drop in the fertility rate. This MS Thesis aims to assess the possible consequences of the family planning policies on future growth of Chinese economy. The theoretical part defines population policy, assess the connections between population growth and economic growth and deals with the development of population theory over the years. The analytical part describes the family planning policy in China, its principles and instruments. Next it identifies the possible consequences of the demographic changes caused by the drop in fertility rate. The last part of the thesis focuses on two economically most severe consequences - population ageing and shrinking working age population - and evaluates its implications on future growth of Chinese economy.
The position of European brands in the automotive market in the PRC

The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the present position of the European brands in the Chinese car market and outline possible future developments and opportunities for growth. The first chapter characterizes the automotive market in the EU and the PRC. The next section describes the development of trade in automotive products between the EU and the PRC. Finally, a SWOT analysis of European automakers in the Chinese market is performed.

Current aspects of cross-strait relations

The aim of this master thesis is to assess present situation and current aspects of cross-strait relations in the area of mutual negotiation, achieved progress as well as possible future development. First, a brief summary of existing historic development of mutual relations of China and Taiwan is presented with the emphasis laid on historic moments influencing attitude and relations of both states. The main factors that have a significant influence on views and behaviour of both China and Taiwan and on their relationship as well are identified in the next chapter. The last chapter deals with the future of cross-strait relations; the main possible alternatives of prospective development of mutual relations of both sides of the Taiwan Strait with reference to the above mentioned factors are presented. The conclusion summarizes the main problems of current cross-strait relations and it also evaluates which variant of the future development of mutual relations of China and Taiwan is the most probable one.
Changes in DPRK - PRC relations after the year 2006

The aim of this thesis is tu analyze the changes in bilateral relations between China and North Korea after the year 2006. The changes are described mainly in 2 areas: in the political field and in the economical area. The author is also trying to identify some essential links between the changes and issues, that happened in or even before the analyzed time in the area of north-east Asia. The thesis reveals that relations between China and DPRK are more and more based on classical international principals and that mutual utility is ephasised more than ever.
Chinese accession to WTO and its trade disputes in the field of WTO.

The thesis is focused on Chinese accession to WTO and at the same time describes certain trade disputes in the field of WTO. First of all, text describes history of economic changes, thanks to which China became a member of WTO and gradually gained World economic power. The paper provides a description of history and functioning principles of GATT and WTO. The author analyzes the reasons, which led China to aapplication for accession to WTO. Then the thesis looks at chinese committments and consequences of its enter for other countries. Using the main macroecnomic indicators thesis analyzes the economic situation of China before it entered WTO and after the year 2001. In the conclusion, there are selected trade disputess of ČLR with other members.
