Bank loans for business persons
Dolejš, Jiří ; Kotáb, Petr (advisor) ; Dřevínek, Karel (referee)
12. English summary Bank loans to entrepreneurial (corporate) customers There is no commonly accepted definition of loan in the Czech law and theory. The Czech civil law distinguishes between "loan" (as defined in the commercial code) and "borrowings" (as defined in the civil law code). The definition used by the financial law is more comprehensive and more reflecting the economic sense to the form of the provided money. According to the bank code, loan is temporarily granted cash, no matter in what form. Some definitions in the theory are even more comprehensive including also guarantees and similar products. According to my definition, loan is an instrument, under which cash (or its equivalent in other goods) is temporarily granted to a debtor and cash (or its equivalent in other goods) is returned to the creditor. Cash is always at least either provided in the beginning or returned in the end. "Entrepreneur" is defined in the commercial code. However this definition has to be adjusted to the special law or internal rules of the bank. Entrepreneurial (or in English "corporate") customers include usually entrepreneurs as defined by the commercial law, but excluding some special types of clients as banks and other financial institutions, public subjects and some small entrepreneurs with retail character....

Horčička, Jan ; Švecová, Lenka (advisor) ; Fotr, Jiří (referee)
This thesis is focused on decision models for decision making under risk and uncertainty. The thesis should give a comprehensive insight about individual decision criteria and the reader should form a clear picture about usability of these models for solving particular decision problems. The thesis tries to provide objective point of view to the reader with highlighting the advantages and disadvantages of each model. In the frame of decision making under risk, the thesis mentions the expected value rule, the rule of expected value and variance and the stochastic dominance rules. For the field of decision making under uncertainty, the thesis brings up the Laplace's criterion, the Hurwicz's criterion and Savage's regret criterion. The thesis further deal with the theory of expected utility. It brings up the method of construction of the utility curve, methods of usage and also known deficiencies of the theory when used in real world situations. In connection with utility theory, the thesis introduces the expected utility rule. For mapping future development, the thesis work with probability trees and explains their usability for modeling situations under risk and uncertainty. For all of the featured decision criteria, the work shows their applicative usage by using a prefigurative example. The reader should therefore know, how to proceed when using mentioned models for solving real decision problems.

However, in the last two decades successes have achieved on universal level, especially by the adoption of the International Convention for the Suppression of Financing of Terrorism, which is the first universal agreement binding defines terrorism. Duty od Care of Members of Statutory Bodies in Capital Business Companies and its Relation to Internal Compliance Programs
Andreisová, Lucie ; Dědič, Jan (advisor) ; Boháček, Martin (referee) ; Lasák, Jan (referee)
The purpose of this dissertation is to provide its readers with a detailed and comprehensive look at the institute of duty of care, business judgment rule and related civil and partly also criminal liability of members of (not only) statutory bodies of capital business companies, and in this respect also to introduce an internal compliance program as one of the main instruments of good and effective corporate governance. The main objective of this dissertation is therefore to verify or refute the hypothesis whether, and if so in what particular form, can an internal compliance program be seen as an institute helping members of statutory bodies of capital business companies in fulfilling specific requirements and obligations of their duty to carry out the statutory function with due (managerial) care. The existence (implementation) of an internal compliance program is quite commonly connected with so called regulated markets and also with individual business corporations whose ownership structure extends the boundaries of the Czech Republic (typically British or American business corporations seated in the Czech Republic). But what about a wide neutral zone of Czech business corporations, i.e. especially small and medium-sized capital business companies? Shall these implement an internal compliance program as well? And, if so, on what grounds and with what benefits?

Hrachovec, Miloš ; Geršl, Adam (referee) ; Horváth, Roman (advisor)
This paper studies role of the so called Taylor rules in the complex procedure of interest rate setting. The Czech National Bank is described as the monetary authority in the Czech Republic, then optimal monetary policy and form of monetary policy rule is discussed, yielding conditions on the optimal rule. These conditions are then applied to the forward-looking reaction function of the Czech National Bank and the role of this reaction function within the Czech National Bank's monetary policy is addressed. Last section presents empirical estimates of a Taylor-like rule for the Czech National Bank and shows variability of possible utilization for the modified Taylor rule.
