Symbol and his role in human and artificial cogitation
Bečev, Ondřej ; Bruckner, Tomáš (advisor) ; Sigmund, Tomáš (referee)
The paper deals with a topic of symbols, and their role in process of thinking both of humans and artificial systems. Main objectives are: looking into problems of symbols and symbolizing, role of symbols in perception, and relationship between language, symbols, signs and artificial (formal) inference. Gains of this work is a complex survey to the semiotics and symbols, examination of perception, and defining of some basic problems in the topic of perception. In it's first chapter, there are an detailed comparison and examination of existing semiotics' theories, and theories of symbols commonly. Second chapter is devoted to the subject of perception, and possible role of symbols in this process. Third (and last) chapter deals with question of thinking, especially that of artificial systems, compared to human.

Visualization of PlanetLab nodes location
Polášek, Jakub ; Verner, Lukáš (referee) ; Komosný, Dan (advisor)
This paper deals with a way to display the location of PlanetLab network stations on map. Here I theoretically go through PlanetLab network, theoretical terms from this field and way of functioning. To create the script performing this function is used scripting language JavaScript. In the practical part is shown principle of creating a database nodes, which is then necessary for the script that rendering markers on the map and obtain further information. At the end is described the script written in JavaScript, which is attached to this work as a vizualize.html.

SPARQL compiler for Bobox
Čermák, Miroslav ; Zavoral, Filip (referee) ; Dokulil, Jiří (advisor)
The goal of the work is to design and implement a SPARQL compiler for the Bobox system. In addition to lexical and syntactic analysis corresponding to W3C standard for SPARQL language, it performs semantic analysis and optimization of queries. Compiler will constuct an appropriate model for execution in Bobox, that depends on the physical database schema.

NoSQL databases
Günzl, Richard ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Strossa, Petr (referee)
This thesis deals with database systems referred to as NoSQL databases. In the second chapter, I explain basic terms and the theory of database systems. A short explanation is dedicated to database systems based on the relational data model and the SQL standardized query language. Chapter Three explains the concept and history of the NoSQL databases, and also presents database models, major features and the use of NoSQL databases in comparison with traditional database systems. In the fourth chapter I focus on the various representatives of NoSQL databases, in particular the ones that are most frequently used. In the next chapter, I have taken a practical look at a NoSQL database, specifically Apache Cassandra. I briefly describe the steps required to launch Apache Cassandra and its administration tools. In this practically-oriented chapter, I also show basic operations performed over a sample database using Cassandra CLI, its interactive command line interface. The purpose of this chapter is to make the reader familiar with the method of working with the Apache Cassandra database system and to point out some of its specific aspects. The primary objective of this thesis is to acquaint readers with the most important features and representatives of NoSQL databases and the potential for their practical use.

Business Process Modeling Standards
Klička, Lukáš ; Řepa, Václav (advisor) ; Sigmund, Tomáš (referee)
Business process modeling plays an important role for the documentation and analysis of organizational processes and for the specification of requirements for information systems. Currently, there are many standards for process modeling, and each represents a different approach to modeling and provides different opportunities for creating models. Thus, same models created in different modeling languages differ in terms of their expressiveness, according to each standard. The goal of this thesis is to evaluate the effectiveness of selected business process modeling standards. The effectiveness of standards will be evaluated on two levels. First, in terms of their semantics and second, in terms of their syntax. Evaluation of standards in terms of their semantics will be based on the comparison of standards with a business process metamodel created within the project Opensoul. This model defines a set of basic elements and their associations at a basic level of process modeling. Evaluation of standards in terms of their syntax will be based on the comparison of standards with a framework proposed by Moody and Hillegersberg. The results of this comparison should show which standard best supports defined criteria. The evaluation framework will be applied on the following process modeling standards: BPMN, EPC and IDEF3. Based on the results obtained their strength and weaknesses will be discussed. The main contribution of this thesis can be seen both in the analysis of the element set of selected process modeling standards and further in the comparison of standards according to the evaluation framework.

Occupancy analysis of chosen area of public transport in Ústí nad Labem
Hrstka, Daniel ; Mervart, Michal (advisor) ; Matras, Tomáš (referee)
Main objective of this work is to introduce public transport in Ústí nad Labem and to create analysis and evaluation of service line 16 through own traffic survey. Information is obtained by counting people in buses and writing down records into counting form. Data are then processed in MS Excel, where the database is created and in which pivot table is made. Information from pivot table is transfered into well-aranged tables and graphs. Global indicators of supply and demand with maximum occupancy of the line are assessed first, then global stops and between stops turns are processed and finally graphs for each between stops turns for each line are made. In the end everything is assessed with variable costs and combinations of different solutions of potentially economical measures are looked up. Economical factors and negative impacts are taken in account and acceptable kompromise is being found.

Information System of a Swim Club
Vencel, Jan ; Kolář, Dušan (referee) ; Burget, Radek (advisor)
This bechelor thesis is devoted to an information system of ASK Blansko swim club. It is a web application built on the web technology trio - webserver Apache, database MySQL and PHP language. The main goal of the system is to provide a possibility to administrate these database data and also to make the data accessible to a common user. During the development, the Nette PHP framework and the Bootstrap front-end framework were used. The database data were vizualized using the Google Charts tool and statistical data about the user's attendance were collected by the Google Analytics tool. The thesis discusses analysis, design, implementation and testing of the information system. The funcionality related to an export of the selected data and also an import from ČSPS and FINA servers is also worth mentioning.

Declension of masculine nouns ending with "ambiguous" consonants in contemporary Czech
Klimtová, Barbora ; Adam, Robert (advisor) ; Bozděchová, Ivana (referee)
The thesis attemps to map the current situation of the variance process in masculines ended with epicene consonants -s and -z. Based on the description of the situation presented in language guides approximately since 1950s and with the help of Retrográdní slovník současné češtiny, the authoress compiled a list of masculines with this type of ending and afterwards she verified each noun via corpus databáze ČNK syn2010. To komplete the corpus results the authoress used the questionary survey on selected nouns. From acquired data there was set together a summary which should describe the current situation of this variance in these nouns.

Politeness in Danish in Comparison with Czech
Halamíčková, Zuzana ; Štajnerová, Petra (advisor) ; Hartlová, Dagmar (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to compare linguistic means of expressing politeness in Czech and in Danish. The term politeness covers both norms defining socially acceptable behaviour and strategies that speakers use to achieve their goals and avoid conflicts. After defining the term politeness, I briefly introduce the most influential theoretical approaches to politeness since the 1960s. The second chapter brings an overview of linguistic means of expressing politeness in Czech and in Danish. The last, most comprehensive part of the thesis is concerned with selected areas typically connected to politeness, i.e. greetings and forms of address, expressing thanks and reacting to them, orders, bans, and requests. In Czech, a polite request usually contains the particle prosím (please). This word has no equivalent in spoken Danish; however, Danish speakers can make use of other expressions, such as particles godt, nok, lige and vel, or the expression vil du være sød/venlig (would you be so kind). They can also use some of the conventional means of expressing a request indirectly. Many of those strategies are common to both languages, especially formulating the requests as a question, perhaps in a negative form. Polite requests in Czech are characterized by the use of conditional, Danish requests typically...

Comparison of Old Norse and Proto-Norse Noun Declension
Šimeček, David ; Starý, Jiří (advisor) ; Štajnerová, Petra (referee)
Comparison of Old Norse and Proto-Norse Noun Declension The purpose of this thesis is to follow the development of noun declensions from Proto-Norse to the Old Norse (Old Icelandic) language. The first of the three chapters seeks to give a comprehensive overview of Proto-Norse noun declensions. This overview is based on the evidence of the older runic inscriptions and on reconstruction using relevant linguistic literature. Each of the declensions is presented in the form of a paradigm accompanied by commentary and quotations of preserved grammatical forms. The second and largest chapter presents a survey of Old Norse (Old Icelandic) noun declensions. The survey has two aims. The first aim is to provide a synchronic description of the Old Norse noun declension system which would not be encumbered by an excess of diachronic approach as is often the case in the traditional grammars of Old Norse. At the same time, however, it should show how Old Norse inflectional exponents and classes continue the Proto-Norse declensions as presented in the first chapter. There is also a discussion of some of the systemic causes leading to morphological changes in inflection. The third chapter sums up the previous diachronic analysis and questions the validity of the traditional designations of declension classes based on...
