Introduction to the Theory of Language Correctness
Beneš, Martin ; Adam, Robert (advisor) ; Bermel, Neil Halford Andrew (referee) ; Dolník, Juraj (referee)
Introduction to the Theory of Language Correctness. The theme of this Thesis is the novel conceptualization of the subject field, which is, in the Czech context, traditionally dealt with within the theory of language cultivation, from the perspective of the so-called ontological "socialism" (esp. Itkonen, 1978; 2003). The first two chapters explain why the subject field of the (theory of) language cultivation is to be newly approached from this very perspective. The conceptual discussion in the first chapter identifies three underresearched factors (reaction of the Protectorate elites to the Nazi occupation policy; variety-based approach to the "language" and physicalism) that had negative effect to the debate on these questions and therefore they should not be taken into consideration; the terminological discussion in the second chapter supports the claim that it is not suitable to associate the traditional term (theory of) language cultivation with this novel conceptualization. The third chapter introduces in detail the so-called ontological "socialism" according to which there are not only spatiotemporal entities, i.e. language means, but also non-spatiotemporal entities, i.e. language rules qua actually existing social facts, in the subject field of linguistics. The fourth chapter provides a...
The Impact of EU Sanctions on Russian Involvement on Eastern Ukraine (2014 - 2016)
Husák, Matěj ; Kofroň, Jan (advisor) ; Kuľková, Miroslava (referee)
This thesis deals with the influence of EU sanctions on the behavior of the Russian Federation in eastern Ukraine. The use of sanctions as a tool of foreign policy, or a means of achieving the objectives of this policy, is the lively discussion of many authors. In this thesis, we try to analyze the effectiveness of EU sanctions by using the method of testing the rival theoretical arguments of advocates and opponents of the effectiveness of sanctions. Unlike many other studies related to the effectiveness of EU sanctions, we are dealing with foreign policy implications, not the economic impact of sanctions. In the theoretical part of this paper, we present in particular the used typology of sanctions, in which we analyze in more detail the historical effectiveness of the sanctions. In the empirical part, we mainly analyze the development of the conflict in the East of Ukraine, which we divide into individual stages in order to better analyze the effectiveness of individual phases of EU sanctions. At the end of our analysis, we find out that the impact of EU economic sanctions on Russian engagement in eastern Ukraine is entirely minimal. Russia continues to behave like an aggressor who does not respect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. Therefore, the theory of the ineffectiveness...

Knotková, Denisa ; Prášková, Helena (advisor) ; Pítrová, Lenka (referee)
Cartel agreements constitute a distortion to consumer ́s welfare and economics environment itself by yielding higher profits without risks to those who engage in anticompetitive behavior. Therefore the purpose of this master thesis is to analyze the aspects of sanctioning cartels under Czech and European law especially with regard to the many recent changes in legislation regulating the protection of competition. The thesis is composed of fifteen chapters. Chapter one defines cartels and their characteristics. Second chapter builds on the first by introducing, the types of prohibited agreements. The background in history of competition regulation and its upcoming challenges is provided in chapter three followed by explanation of the reasons why it is necessary to prosecute competitors who engage in anticompetitive conduct in chapter four. Since these reasons have changed several times in history as have the views of the regulator on the need of market regulation, it is important to explore the issue of inconsistency as they still remain topic of discussion even nowadays. Chapter five provides overview of the institutions whose task it is to enforce competition law. After these background chapters, in chapter six the focus shifts towards liability aspects of cartels and the process of sanctioning...
