Proteomic and functional characterization of PsbO isoforms
Duchoslav, Miloš ; Fischer, Lukáš (advisor) ; Hála, Michal (referee)
PsbO (manganese-stabilizing protein) is the largest extrinsic protein of photosystem II, located on the lumen side of photosystem. It is present in all known oxyphototrophic organisms. PsbO facilitates photosynthetic water splitting, which takes place in an oxygen evolving center (Mn4CaO5 cluster) of photosystem II. This work is focused on PsbO of higher plants and its isoforms, particularly their evolution and functions. Bioinformatic analyses revealed that majority of higher plants express exactly two psbO isoforms. A phylogenetic tree of PsbO sequences has an unusual topology. The two paralogous isoforms do not diverge at the base of the phylogenetic tree, as anticipated, but rather at the end of particular branches, at the level of family or lower taxonomic unit. In this work we propose and discuss several hypotheses concerning evolution of PsbO isoforms. The work further includes detailed analysis and identification of protein spots assigned to PsbO on 2D IEF-SDS PAGE gels of potato thylakoid proteins. We identified predominant version of PsbO isoform in most of the spots. We did not succeed to find any posttranslational modification. We optimized a method of psbO expression in E. coli and subsequent purification, which yielded relatively big amount of properly folded recombinant protein. Analysis of...
Innovation in small and medium enterprises
Ehrenberger, Marek ; Strielkowski, Wadim (advisor) ; Hausenblas, Václav (referee)
This thesis provides insight into factors that influence the innovation activity of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the Czech Republic. Its key part analyzes a survey conducted among over eleven hundred Czech SMEs. A model of determinants of innovations is constructed and estimated. Own R&D is identified as a key driver of innovations for the firms. Other important factors include investment into technology, improvement of quality of a product or service or presence on foreign markets. Barriers to innovations and external factors with negative impact as perceived by the firms do not prove to constitute a real inhibitor of innovative activities. Keywords: SME, innovation, entrepreneurship, small and medium enterprise Author's e-mail: marek.ehrenberger@gmail.com Supervisor's e-mail: strielkowski@fsv.cuni.cz
EU Innovation Policy in the Czech Republic
Bartůšek, Pavel ; Urban, Luděk (advisor) ; Hubáček, Filip (referee)
The European Union (EU) puts more emphasis on innovation as a key means for regaining and maintaining competitiveness, a trait it lags behind in when compared to its main global competitors. It therefore possesses a range of tools designed to support innovative activities of firms and to improve the overall environment of innovation in the European Union and Member States. This thesis outlines/describes the major milestones in the development of innovation policies in the Czech Republic and the EU and focuses on supporting innovation in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the Czech Republic via measures derived from the EU's financial tools. Special emphasis is applied to the Operational Programme Entrepreneurship and Innovation (OPIE) that in the Czech Republic is the main tool used to support innovation in firms. The main problem areas that may pose barriers to active impact for this support are identified on the basis of programme documents, assessment reports, statistical data on the programmes and qualitative information yielded from interviews with firm representatives experienced in this type of support. With regard to the findings of this assessment, the thesis attempts to frame suggestions that can eliminate the identified shortcomings and recommendations that can form the position of...

Implementation methodology of open source ERP in SME
Polák, Tomáš ; Gála, Libor (advisor) ; Lieb, Dušan (referee)
This paper deals with the implementation of open source ERP systems in the area of small and medium-sized enterprises. The main objective of this work is to define an open source ERP implementation methodology, suitable for small and medium enterprises. This objec-tive is fulfilled partially by defining of manifesto, as way of thinking about this area and analysis of current state of available implementation methodologies. Newly described met-hodology is then verified by a case study. The main contribution of this work is the defini-tion of implementation methodology for open source ERP systems in area of SME focusing on frequently occurring insufficiencies and leading to successful deployment of company IS.
The two way prestressed floor slab
Prášek, Martin ; Perla, Jan (referee) ; Klusáček, Ladislav (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis focuses on design and check of pre-stress concrete slab of multifunctional building. Designed floor slab is purposed as office spaces. Method of preliminary design was established as method balancing self-weight load. The result is check of designed structure on service limit state, ultimate limit state and drawings

Combined cast-in-place structure of WTP
Holoubek, Jan ; Šiška, Radek (referee) ; Strnad, Jiří (advisor)
Master's thesis deal with the design and static analysis of supporting structures of main underground reinforced concrete tank located in Combined cast-in-place structure of WTP in Kořenec. The tank has dimensions of 9.5 x 9.5 m and the is divided into four sub-tanks by internal walls. Supporting structures, foundation slab, external and internal walls and ceiling slab, were verified for limit state design requirements for concrete members. Verification of serviceability limit state and crack control of width was made.
Design of prestressed box gireder bridge
Hofírek, Radovan ; Jurík, Michal (referee) ; Zich, Miloš (advisor)
This thesis deals with bridging of a lowland valley and the creek Dolanský in the section Jánovce – Jablonov on the Slovak motorway D1. Four variants of the bridge have been developed. Subsequently prestressed single box gilder with large overhangs that are supported by precast struts was selected as the most suitable variant. The construction of the bridge will take place in a formwork suspended on overhead launching scaffolding. The static assessment according to the Europan standard has been drawn up for this variant. The load of the bridge is projected according to the ČSN EN 1991-2 - Traffic loads on bridges and the dimensoin of concrete structures according to the ČSN EN 1992-2 - Concrete bridges - Design and detailing rules. The calculation of load is done using computer software SCIA Engineer 10.1 and Midas Civil.
Evaluation of Posible Benefits of Enterprise Europe Network pro MSP
Jünglingová, Ivana ; Šafránek, Jiří (referee) ; Koleňák, Jiří (advisor)
