Planar brainteasers and their application to increase mathematical literacy of special educational needs children

Key words: Pentominoes Tangram Affine mapping Special educational needs pupils Orientation of flat Resume: My thesis deals with different ways of use of Pentominoes and Tangram brain-teasers in teaching of mathematics to special educational needs pupils. In the theoretical part I introduced these brain-teasers, I explained affine mapping using their particular pieces, I analysed similar tasks in mathematics textbooks for 6 to 10-year-olds and pointed out the issues of special educational needs pupils. In the practical part I described a few lessons of experimental education with six pupils of practical basic school. In the first year we dealt with Tangram brain-teaser. We made the separate pieces of paper, we handled wooden cubes and used Tangram pictures for development of visual perception and approximation of affine mapping. The next year the pupils schemed out their Pentominoes cubes first and then they worked with them. They drew them in a grid, built pictures, played a game for two etc. At the end I summarised my thesis and I evaluated it.

The kinds of identity in the Czech interwar romance

The graduation thesis focuses on the types of social identity created between the lines of the story about the romantic love. The selected books (the thesis choose the texts, which were published as books, although there is also a huge range of texts published as part-issues) fall into the works of the most popular writers in the interwar era in the new established Czechoslovakia (Javořická, Zahradník-Brodský, Utěšitelová, Kyzlinková etc.). The analysis of the texts shows, that the period, when they were published, influences the social meaning of the concepts used as motives, which sketch in the dramatic or on the other hand the lyric atmosphere. The new established state as the new social-political organization uses the metaphors of the Czech national revival as social stereotypes to remake and reinforce the Czech national identity. Though there are other types of identity as local identity, religious (Christian) or gender identity, they all at least partly embody in the changed national identity.

Analysis of training indicators youths by cross country skiing and biatlon.

Title: Analysis ofyouth girls'training indicators in cross country skiing and biathlon. Aim of work: This thesis is focused on analyzing and comparing of training indicators of youth girls in cross country skiing and biathlon. It monitors a proportion oftraining means during year training cycle's seasons. Furthermore it is focused on training indicators and their importance in the performance. Method: For analysis of year training cycle we used a training indicator data of ten biathlonists and thirteen cross country skiers. All ofthose girls were youths (15-18 years) split into two groups of younger and older. The competition results were realized from Final Point Lists of seasons 2004/2005 and 2005/2006. Findings: They explain a usage of training means in year training cycle; compare data of training indicators in cross country skiing and biathlon and show influence of those data in the performance. Passive optical detection of moving targets

This master thesis deals with a problem of a small moving object detection - one or few pixels. Relevant mathematical aparats which are usualy used for processing of dynamic pictures are included. There was proposed experimental aparat for standalone locator for real-time operation. It is consisted from two devices - CMOS camera module and development board based on ARM processor. System GNU/Linux is used as operation system on this board. There were also tested methods useful for the essence of this project. On behalf of the tests was developed an algorithm to detect small particle in video sequence. C language routines were build including essence algorithms.

Czech and Austrian feature film 1939-1945: propaganda, collaboration, resistance

Anglicke resume Throughout my thesis, I have strived to portrait the feature film production and manifestation of collaboration and resistance in the field of Czech and Austrian feature film as comprehensively as possible. I have attempted to answer the question, whether the Nazis misused this mass media. After the occupation, Czech cinematography was being taken over by the Nazis. There are two main trends in movies prevailing at the time. The first one is stressing the national traditions and expecting that this will be favourably received by the public. The second trend represents an obvious escape of a number of movies, especially conversation comedies. If we look at the emphasis on national traditions in terms of the reaction by cinema audiences or through the eyes of the reaction in the press, their importance seems to be extremely significant. The escape and amusement of movies should be viewed in the context of the intentions of the Nazi propaganda. Then we can say that, it was about much more than an escape from the routine drudgery of the protectorate life, it was also about intentional relaxation, which was supposed to facilitate regeneration of energy necessary for a problem-free functioning of the protectorate. Relationship between practical wisdom and ethical states in Aristotle

In our text we examme the relationship between practical wisdom and ethical states in Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics. The goal of our work is to define the function of practical wisdom in ethical virtue. We gradually analyze the indiviual parts of definition of ethical virtue from EN II, 6, that is, that virtue is a state concerned with choice which holds the mean relative to us in such a way as a man of practical wisdom would define it. After the analysis of state concerned with choice and practical wisdom we arrive at the determination of practical wisdom as the source of virtuous action; only practical wisdom can be the criterion that pronounces what is bad and good; desire in itself is not capable of deliberation. Following from this a new question arises: how can practical wisdom influence the irrational part of the soul, which is the seat of desire? Practical wisdom, having no direct influence on desire, uses ethical virtue-temperance as it's intermediary. This induces in irrational desire the intention to follow practical wisdom and thus practical wisdom becomes master of desire. Czechs and Slovaks in the international brigades

Předkládaná diplomová práce se skládá ze tří hlavních částí. První dvě části jsou teoretické a třetí část je empirická (praktická). První část práce (kapitola 2 a 3) poskytuje informaci o metodách a pramenech, které jsme v průběhu bádání na tématu využili. Některé prameny jsou - vzhledem ke svému specifickému charakteru - analyzovány podrobněji, jiné jsou charakterizovány jen stručně. Druhá část práce (kapitola 4 a 5) si klade za cíl uvést čtenáře do problematiky a vyložit obecnější historický kontext. Začíná stručným nástinem příčin a průběhu španělské občanské války a s ní souvisejících politických a společenských událostí a zvratů. Problematika je pokud možno sledována v celoevropském a mezinárodním kontextu (s důrazem na téma zahraniční intervence). Následuje podkapitola o vzniku a vývoji Mezinárodních brigád, o roli SSSR a Komunistické Internacionály ve 6 Španělsku, o interbrigadistech (s důrazem na jejich politickou orientaci a sociální situaci v okamžiku odchodu do Španělska). Dále text sleduje postoj tehdejšího Československa (čs. vlády a čs. veřejnosti) vůči španělským událostem, přičemž těžištěm je zde pokus o obecnější charakteristiku čs. interbrigadistů (kapitola 5.2.) - jejich politického smýšlení, sociálního a teritoriálního původu, věku, vzdělání, jejich působení ve španělské válce (čs....

Práce se zabývá v evropském, ale i světovém měřítku ojedinělým systémem národních knihoven, který má své místo v Itálii. Úvodní část práce, složená z kapitol 1 a 2, je věnována jednak úvodu do italského knihovnictví a nastínění možných dělení italských knihoven obecně (kapitola 1 ), jednak podrobnějšímu seznámení s postavením národních a ústředních národních knihoven v italském systému, charakteristice jejich rolí a funkcí, seznámení s italskou knihovnickou legislativou a Italskou knihovnickou asociací (kapitola 2). Druhá část práce, skládající se z kapitol 3, 4 a 5, obsahuje rozbory jednotlivých druhů národních knihoven spolu s charakteristikami jejich historie, fondu, sbírek, katalogů a přehledem projektů, jichž se aktivně účastní. Kapitola 5 je věnována dvěma nejvýznamnějším projektům na národní úrovni, na nichž knihovny kooperují, a to Italské národní bibliografii a Národní knihovnické službě. Závěrečná část práce tvořená kapitolou 6 znovu shrnuje základní poznatky týkající se národních knihoven v Itálii a jejich postavení v systému knihoven v komparaci s všeobecně uznávanými principy fungování národních knihoven v rámci jedné země.

Using Artificial Neural Networks to Study Non-Linear Properties of Single Neurons in the Auditory Cortex

Neurony v naších mozcích převádějí informace o okolním světě do elektrických akčních potenciálů. Klíčem k pochopení funkce neuronů, a poté neuronových sítí a mozku, je vědět, které části okolního světa jsou zastoupeny v aktivitě neuronů, a jakým způsobem je tato informace kódována. Tradiční metodou zkoumání funkce neuronu je zaznamenání odpovědi neuronu na podněty různé složitosti a následně snaha vysvětlit přenosovou funkci neuronu pomocí lineárního modelu. Většina neuronů však obsahuje nelineární přenosovou funkci. V této práci jsme použili umělé neuronové sítě ke studiu nelineárních přenosových funkcí neuronů sluchové kůry. Zaznamenali jsme podprahovou aktivitu neuronů jako odpověď na stimulaci přirozenými zvuky a poté jsme použili neuronové sítě v roli nelineárních aproximátorů k odhadu přenosových funkcí neuronů. Umělé neuronové sítě úspěšně aproximovali přenosové funkce a v průměru odhadli funkce neuronů nejméně stejně dobře jako lineární modely. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
