Shape sexual dimorphism of the greater sciatic notch on human hip bone.
Nehasilová, Lenka ; Brůžek, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Brukner Havelková, Petra (referee)
The aim of this work is sexual dimorphism quantification of greater sciatic notch profile using 2D geometric morphometrics methods. The curvature was digitized by two different methods - manually with contact digitizer MicroScribe G2 and automatically with software Morphome3cs. Results from each method were comparised and advatages and disadvantages of boths methods were discussed. Target sample of 114 adult specimens of known sex was analyzed. This collection comes from Maxwell Museum of Anthropology, The University of New Mexico, Albuquerque and contains 57 male and 57 female hip bones. For the method verification the test smaple contains 112 adult specimens of known sex was used. This collection comes from Universidad Nacional Autonóma de México (UNAM). This collection contains 56 male and 56 female hip bones. The procrustes analysis, principal components analysis, thin plate spine and discriminant function analysis were used for analysis. We could make a detail description of morphologic differences in greater sciatic notch shape of men and women because of shape visualisation and difference of both group was confirmed by discriminant function analysis. Sex assesment achieves accuracy 92,11% - 98,25% in dependence on used methods and number of semilandmarks.

Computer design of a digital radio link
Havel, Ladislav ; Nováček, Zdeněk (referee) ; Láčík, Jaroslav (advisor)
The Terrestrial digital radio links are used for transmitting digital information between fixed stations on a line of sight of a radio path. Each digital radio link has many characteristics and parameters for transmission. We require technical parameters in the design of digital radio link such as data rates and capacities. In this design we should take into account most effects of the electromagnetic waves propagation, if we want to meet user technical requirements of the link and if that link may correctly transmit digital signals with minimum errors. Prediction methods for the design of terrestrial line of sight systems are still in progress. Some effects of electromagnetic waves propagation and methods of the digital radio link design depend on natural variability and climate. The goal of this diploma thesis is to investigate methods for the design of terrestrial line of sight links with taking into account of ITU recommendation. Make computer program which implement this investigate methods

Influence of the light conditions on herbaceous layer in mountain spruce forests in the Giant Mountains using GIS
ČIHÁK, Jan
Mountain forests are an important part of the landscape in our country. In the last three decades they have been seriously damaged by anthropogenic influence, especially immissions. The immissions make worse the health status of Norway spruce (Picea abies) forests, which cause changes in a structure of herbaceous layer, in which the health status of forest stand is reflected. The main goals of my work were to map the cover of herbaceous and mossy layers in two permanent research plots in the Giant Mountains ( Alžbětinka, Modrý důl), to create maps of herbaceous cover, to digitize them and to compare these maps with the extent in years 1993-1994 using a developing analysis in GIS and to detect influence of light conditions on herbaceous layer. Using digitizing and static evaluation of prepared detailed vegetation maps of the both permanent research plots, some important changes were found out in dominant soil cover categories. In the first research plot Alžbětinka, decline of the grass Calamagrostis villosa and increasing of Vaccinium myrtillus cover were evident. In the second research plot Modrý důl, decline of both investigated species, Avenella flexuosa and Calamagrostis villosa, was observed. Another goal of my research was to detect influence of the light conditions on herbaceous layer and nature regeneration of the Norway spruce on permanent research plot Modrý důl. Dependence of the basic categories of the soil cover on the percentual ratio of the light gaps in the crown canopy was proved. Dependence of the height of the seedlings on the ratio of the light gaps was also tested but it was not statistically proved. The negative dependence of survival on the ratio of the light gaps of the seedlings germinated in 1996 was proved, but not of the seedlings germinated in 2004.

Methods of biopsy in mammar diagnostic under X-ray control
KUČEROVÁ, Hana
In the recent years, the issue of malignant female disease, breast cancer, has been increasingly discussed. On top of biological behaviour, the prognosis of the disease depends manly on early diagnosis. The targeted biopsy of the tissue, under visualisation methods control, opens new opportunities compared to the earlier pre-operation biopsies guided by mere guessing and palpation. There is a decrease in the number of open biopsies and unnecessary surgeries of the breast gland. Locating and biopsy of a suspicious lesion may be done via mammography or ultrasound. The most common method of mammography nowadays is digital stereotaxis, the most recent used method is vacuum biopsy. Locating suspicious lesion via mammography is particurarly used for micro-caltifications, which can be visualised only via mammography. The constant development and improvement of biopsy methods of biological material in mammal diagnostics leads to the withdrawal of abundantly used methods earlier and also undoubtedly to the development of new ones. Our aim is to offer the client perfect breast gland care!

Digitalization, metadata description and metadata formats
Hutař, Jan ; Kalkus, Stanislav (advisor) ; Bratková, Eva (referee) ; Sklenák, Vilém (referee)
(EN) This thesis is dedicated to the processes of digitization and metadata description, as well as the links that connect them. In recent years, another topic has been becoming relevant for both mentioned processes - the logical long-term preservation of digital objects. Long-term preservation is dependent on metadata and therefore on the processes of digitization, when some important metadata is created. The first introductory chapter of the thesis briefly describes, with an emphasis on metadata, digitization and theoretical and practical problems of long-term preservation of digital objects. The OAIS reference framework is also analysed, since it is the background for digital preservation and present preservation metadata standards. OAIS is also important for the shape and functionality of digital repositories. Metadata is also the topic of the next chapter of the thesis. General metadata use and its development are discussed, with emphasis on administrative, technical and preservation metadata. The following chapter focuses on the use of metadata in the National Library of the Czech Republic. It describes the evolution during two periods leading up to the present. This section includes comments on how long-term preservation has been reflected in used metadata standards. The second-to-last part...

Evaluation of results using different methods of experimental measuring of blood pressure amongst students of the First Faculty of Medicine of the Charles University
Sova, Jan ; Kymplová, Jaroslava (advisor) ; Jirsa, Jan (referee)
During the projects from biophysics of freshman students of the Faculty of Medicine the pressure measurement is run by several different methods; palpation, auscultatory and digital method. Students are learning to record the measurement in a systematic way, and they are learning to compare the results of every method to each other. The measurement of systolic and diastolic pressure are dependent on each other of course, as well they are dependent on the set of biometric and other information that is well available in healthy students (sex, height, weight, physical strain etc.). The aim of the thesis is to compare the results acquired by the methods of measurement mentioned above, related to the accuracy of the scattering of the measurement and related to the anticipated standard values of healthy individuals. The basis of the thesis is going to be project and creation of the regression model for the levels of systolic/diastolic pressure measured out that is dependent on biometric data along with the testing of statistical importance of parametres through the procedure of multifactorial ANOVA for the repeated measurement. The result will aim to show both advantages and disadvantages of different methods of the pressure measurement during accordingly varying conditions of experiments. The thesis...

This work deals with the propagation of electromagnetic waves. In the theoretical section describes the propagation of waves in the open space and the line. The main objective of this work is to design a new layout laboratory exercises in which students measure the behavior of waves on a homogeneous line. The design include measuring the standing wave ratio (SWR) using the digital SWR meter, measure the voltage measured along the line and measuring the frequency dependence of the input impedance of the line.

Block fields in the Giant Mts.
Smolíková, Jana ; Křížek, Marek (advisor) ; Hartvich, Filip (referee)
This diploma thesis is dealing with the study of the block fields in the Krkonoše Mountains. One of the features with which it is dealing is their distribution in the study area and it searches the influence of this distribution in the dependance on the morphometric character of the relief. Moreover, the inner and outer characteristics of the structure of the block fields are being studied. The outer structure was firstly investigated on the basis of the morphometric characteristics observed in DMR (digital model of relief) and orto photo maps and subsequently the characteristics of the inner structure were studied during the terraine geomorphologic researching. The following data were observed - for the outer characteristics: litology, exposition of the slope, angle of the block fields, area (log), index of the solar radiation, the length of the axis x and y of the block fields, excentricity of the shape of the block field, the altitude; and for the outer characteristics: deviation of the axis x from the downslope, the location of the block, angularity of the block, 'R' values, the length of the axis x and y of the block, the height of the block, excentricity of the block, inclination of the block and angle of the block. The influence of the given characteristics on the accumulation of the block fields and...

Digital media and the administration of copyright
Malý, Jiří ; Žikovská, Petra (referee) ; Dobřichovský, Tomáš (advisor)
English summary Digital media and the protection of authors' rights Law is not a panacea. Although it lays down rules of human conduct, it cannot guarantee they will be observed also in practice. The decision whether we will conform to these rules depends only upon our choice. For example, the law stipulates the speed limit for motor vehicles. However, this measure it-self does not hinder driving faster and it is obvious this is happening frequently on our roads. In the situation when the law alone is not able to prevent the interference with the protected interest, it is appropriate to employ additional non-legal instruments to supplement this protection. In the mentioned example, it can be a media campaign notifying of the possible consequences of fast driving. Another eligible solution is the exercise of technical measures which would exclude the breach of legal norms or at least make it substantially difficult. The car would, for example, receive a signal designating the speed limit at a particular place which could not exceed. Such measures are not limited only to the protection of public law rules but can be used by private persons to protect their own property. Similarly, we lock doors from our house every day, although the inviolability of entry into dwelling is protected also by law. It is...
