Modern Systems of Vehicle Lighting
Špaček, Ladislav ; Huzlík, Rostislav (referee) ; Hájek, Vítězslav (advisor)
A vehicle lighting is a basic component of active safeness, which, as an integral part of any vehicle, contributes to road traffic safety increase. From the very beginning, the car electrotechnincs has been engaged in the car lighting and visibility improvment for worse driving conditions, e.g. fog, rain, night ride etc. Thanks to new car lighting systems, such as adaptive headlights, LED based light sources and night vision systems, road traffic became much safer than ever before.

The knights Kaplíř of Sulevice on the treshold of the early modern age
Kozojed, Petr ; Čechura, Jaroslav (referee) ; Bobková, Lenka (advisor)
This thesis focuses on the history of the the family of knights Kaplíř of Sulevice. It covers a period from the first reference to this family before the half of the 14th century until the death of the last male member in the lineage at the beginning of the 18th century. The family Kaplíř of Sulevice belongs among significant members of the estate of Czech knights. In the course of the 14th and at the beginning of the 15th century the members of the family built up their property structure and that time there were 5 descents formed: descent of Sulevice, descent of Ostrý, descent of Solany, descent of Skalka-Řehlovice and descent of Vimperk. Thanks to the Hussite period the knights of Sulevice, the men of great enterprise, succeeded in penetrating more significantly even beyond boundaries of their own estates. The half of the 15th century was marked with certain stagnation (except the descent of Vimperk) which, on the contrary, was in their prime.

Models of Dynamics and Responses of Multi-body Systems
Kšica, Filip ; Houfek, Lubomír (referee) ; Hadaš, Zdeněk (advisor)
The aim of this diploma thesis is to evaluate the potential of available methods for simplification and reduction of complex models of technical systems and their integration with experimental models. Finding methods, which would allow us to create models and run simulations in shorter periods of time, is key in design process of modern technical systems. In the beginning of this thesis, a theory necessary for understanding and application of presented methods is given. These methods can be separated into two groups, first as experiment related, second as simulation related. The first group contains methods for experimental evaluation of response and its use for dynamic system identification. The second group contains methods of finite element model creation, with the usage of standard structural elements as well as Component Mode Synthesis substructures, and these models are in the following step reduced into state space models. In the next step, all presented methods are applied on simple experimental structure. In conclusion, the results of simulations are the subject for comparison not only from quantitative point of view, but also, for the purpose of practical application, in terms of time, feasibility, versatility and accuracy. The system identification method along with state space method proved to be very suitable. The results presented in this thesis might help, by selecting the appropriate method, in simpler evaluation of dynamic properties of technical structures.

The Person and his Way to Freedom in the Humanistic Framework of the Twentieth Century
Burda, Petr ; Ventura, Václav (referee) ; Novotný, Vojtěch (referee)
Résumé While we are standing shyly at the beginning of the third millennium, we feel to be a part of intellectual movement that has an essential meaning for humankind. The change of paradigms has not been completed yet; we are in the middle of a great change. It shows that numerous projects dreaming about a new land, which were made real by the modern era with such effort, are deficient and turn man's sight back to an entire basis of needs that gave birth to these projects. It seems proper to ask whether this land will be a land of people. After all tragedies of 20th century this question is quite legitimate. We live in the world where man seems to be reduced to a number, size of which grows with the profit he brings. It's obvious that a definition of man depends on his social role. Here they are: a businessman, a manager, an employer and an employee. But where is the human being? Nowadays, more urgently than whenever else, Diogenes' lamp is searching for the human being. Shakespeare's dilemma to be or not to be is more than a rhetorical question. It's the historical and existential space and at the same time it's also locus theologicus . Man nonstop collects his losses, suffers from various forms of violence and at the same time keeps projecting his hopes. At the beginning of our work we analyzed the...

Imaging Methods in Antropology
KOBLASOVÁ, Věra
Abstract Imaging Methods in Anthropology. Anthropology, a science born in the 16th century, deals with humans. One of its branches is physical anthropology which includes forensic anthropology and osteology. The imaging methods in anthropology are indispensable tool for identification of the dead and for examination of mummies or other prehistoric bone material. Comparing of pre-death and after-death x-ray snapshots is essential for identification of human remains in forensic anthropology and odontology. The latest trend is 3D face reconstruction with the help of computed tomography. The aim of the thesis is: 1. To analyse all the methods available in the field of anthropology of the present time which use the radiology imaging methods. 2. To compare using of the computed tomography in the Czech Republic and other European countries. The data were obtained through questionnaires sent to anthropology institutes and museums dealing with photographing historical bone material and through searching and processing information focused on the topic of the theses. The results show that the imaging methods in anthropology are under-used. The anthropologists are fully aware of all available imaging methods but the methods are not used often enough because of financial and time consuming reasons. On the contrary to under-using the imaging methods in the Czech Republic the other European countries use the methods a lot more often. A hypothesis was established at the beginning of the research: ?All the available modern radiology imaging methods are not used enough in the Czech Republic. The hypothesis was confirmed. I would like to present the results of the theses at the specialist?s seminars of radiology assistants and to point out the possible further use of radiology imaging methods.

Prague Pub-Inspiration for Czech Art of the First half of the 20th Century
Rollová, Veronika ; Rakušanová, Marie (advisor) ; Bendová, Eva (referee)
Prague Pub - Inspiration for Czech Art of the First half of the 20th Century A pub means an important place for a life of the Czech society. Especially a Prague pub is world-known thanks to its specific atmosphere. Czechs meet each other regularly there to comment the news above the pint of beer; they meet there to tell each other stories and jokes. Bachelor thesis deals with an influence of the atmosphere of the pub on the modern artist. It observes their reasons to choose this theme and how had they presented its influence in their works. In the beginning the thesis aims at the theme from the perpsective of sociology. It is considering a position of the pub in the Czech society. The pub has had this position since the time of the National Rebirth in the 19th Century. Patriots used to meet each other in the pub. The thesis continues with a brief listing of the most important pubs of the first half of the 20th Century; especially the places closely connected with some art societies. Euthanasia in a film - an analysis of selected pieces
HRUBÁ, Ludmila
The diploma thesis titled Euthanasia in the film an analysis of selected pieces, is divided into theoretical and practical parts. I devoted to a description of a current state of euthanasia in the theoretical part. First I focused on definitions of euthanasia, assisted suicide etc. A chapter is also devoted to a history of euthanasia. I wanted to highlight the fact, that euthanasia is not only a problem of the modern society, but beginnings of a discussion about euthanasia we could find already in the ancient world. Through the concept of euthanasia in the Middle Ages and modern times I got up to the World War II, which is in my opinion an important milestone in the history of euthanasia, because at that time euthanasia was perceived as a tool for a disposal of persons who, in the context of its time, seemed to be undesirable. Among such people there were classified for example people so called racially unsuitable, weak and sick. Because there are legally different views of euthanasia, in chapters I mention the fact how euthanasia is perceived in the world. In terms of acceptance of euthanasia and assisted suicide I particularly emphasize the Netherlands and Switzerland. One chapter I also dedicate to euthanasia in the Czech Republic. It includes a description of the discussion and arguments for and against euthanasia. One more separate chapter I devoted to questions whether to legalize or not to legalize euthanasia. I found out that a discussion on this topic is very extensive and here could be applied the rule that each man has his own opinion. It turned out that even experts in one area, doctors of philosophers, are not unanimous in the issue of euthanasia and its pros and cons are from both sides argued with plenty of arguments that are worth thinking about. A separate chapter I devoted to a man, who I consider to be the main promoter of euthanasia and assisted suicide and if you pronounce his name, people would link him with that theme. This is Dr. Jack Kevorkian, nicknamed Dr. Death. Jack Kevorkian, who understood his acts as medical services for terminally ill people, helped with the voluntary termination of life to several hundred of people. Although he had written certain "rules" about the situations when he can people "help" to solve their suffering and pain, it turned out that those people in many cases had no anatomical evidence of disease in their body. Jack Kevorkian has had and even currently has many supporters and opponents. In case of Jack Kevorkian there are arguments for and against euthanasia as in the whole debate about it. The aim of the study was to analyse how the topic of euthanasia has been reflected in the film production. At the beginning of the research I have asked this research question: Which are usual attitudes to euthanasia reflected in filmmaking? In order to find out the given objective and to answer the research question I chose a qualitative research based on the method of disinterested observation of six selected movie titles. Titles in their alphabetical order were following: Doktor smrt (You Don´t Know Jack, USA, 2010, 134 min), Hlas moře (Mar adentro, Španělsko/Francie/Itálie, 2004, 125 min), Hodinu nevíš, Česko, 2009, 94 min), Invaze barbarů (Invasion barbares, Kanada/Fancie, 2003, 99 min), Millon Dollar Baby, (USA, 2004, 132 min) a Skafandr a motýl (Le Scaphandre et le papillon, Francie/USA, 2007, 107 min).

Symbolism of Christian graveyards
ČERNÁ, Pavlína
This document briefly describes historical evolution of Christianity. It follows up formation of Christianity and events that affected its evolution significantly. It analyzes main Christian symbols like fish, anchor, chalice, dove or lamb. It constructs meaning of the symbols from the beginning of Christianity to present days. The importance of the symbols for believers is demonstrated by frequent quotations from the Bible. It shows the meaning of the symbols for other civilizations and religions. This paper describes evolution of graveyards and methods of burying. Then it focuses on Czech lands. It shows the view of society on dying and the death itself from the Middle Ages to present especially how Christianity affected perception of death and how it cause changes in burying and ordering on graveyards. This document analyzes tomb symbolism - specifically St. Otylie and the cemetery in Mlady, both in Czech Budejovice and also place of final rest in Albrechtice nad Vltavou. It compares frequency of Christian symbols appearing at each cemetery and researches which of the symbols are the most favorite decoration on memorials. The main task of this document is to find out if today?s people incline to modernization of tombs or if they rather keep up to conventional Christian traditions.
