The thesis deals with French acceptance of and reaction to Czech written novels by Milan Kundera which were published in France between 1979 and 1990. The thesis presents French reception of three books: The Book of Laughter and Forgetting, The Unbearable Lightness of being and Immortality. We are approching the pieces by applying the receptional and aestetical theory. The thesis is divided into ten parts. There is an introduction, the second part (theoretic base), the third part (short presentation of French press), three big parts named after three novels, whose French reception we are dealing with, a conclusion, a summary in Czech, a summary in English and a bibliography. Each of the three big chapters is also divided into smaller chapters, in which we subdivide the reception of literary context, the reception of genre, characters, themes and composition and also the evaluation of author and his novel. Pavlátová, Andrea ; Blahůtová Kavanová, Klára (referee) ; Havlíček, Tomáš (advisor)
The Development of Tibetan Cultural and Religious Identity among Tibetans Living outside of Historical Tibet The topic of my thesis was to find out changes in Tibetan society inside Tibet and in Tibetan exile in last 50. years and how do changes help to progress social capital. Inside Tibet is problem with high percent of nonliterary and high percent of incoming Han people, which cause that Tibetan people are getting on the edge of society, because they didn't have developed their human potential. The main problem is that Tibetan people don't know Chinese language well and this language is becoming more useful for daily life in Tibetan autonomous region. Tibetans, who are very religious, don't have opportunity to practice Tibetan Buddhism under communistic rule of Chine. Tibetans have to renounce His Holiness dalajlama and deny part of their Tibetan identity. Those reasons influence them to escape into exile. The second part of my thesis is concerned to describe push and pull factors of migration. As I found in materials, the main reasons to escape into exile were political, religion, education, economical problems and renounce dalajlama. In my research, Tibetan didn't divide those reasons to those categories, because they think of those problems in holistic way. The last part of thesis in...

A Language-based Analysis of the newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung
Baxová, Barbora ; Podhajská, Eva (advisor) ; Bučková, Tamara (referee)
Jazyková analýze deníku "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung" byla prováděna na rovině slova, věty a stylu. K této analýze byly vybrány tři výtisky deníku s daty: 11. ledna, 27. června a 19. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Usage and meaning of extinct Germanic languages in the novels of J. R. R. Tolkien
Kales, Josef ; Ženíšek, Jakub (advisor) ; Matuchová, Klára (referee)
About 450 anthroponyms and toponyms associated with the English literary works The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings are either borrowed from or etymologically (mostly as asterisk names) located into difference languages other than English as the reference language. This huge figure includes names from earlier versions of the narrative and excludes a huge number of proper names in wholly distinct Tolkien's invented tongues (actually several hundred), a few dozen elements pertaining to older stages of English as early as the Middle English period and more than 60 names from Classical languages and as a whole based on generic or botanical names, which, technically, are not proper names from extinct languages.

Problematics of Creole languages: example of Capverdian Creole

My thesis decribes the historical and politi cal situation in Czechoslovakia between 1918 and 1956, as illustrated in a life story of first Jewish - Slovak author Gejza Vámoš. On a historical and linquistic background I follow the most important moments ofhis work. Following the ideas of a formal literary critisism starting in the early years of Czechoslovakia coming to the controversary formulations of recent critics. I also try to formulate the rules of judging Vamoš' s expressionist style and language in close relation to his specific situation in the "literary playground". The very important role in understanding the specific features of his "asimilated jewish mentality" is part of historical section of my work. The relating unit of whole work is tragic life story of doctor Gejza Vámoš. My work is devided in four main parts. In the first part of my work I have tried to reveal the mystery of very complicated and strong personality of Gejza Vámoš. Folloving part of his correspondence with Hana Gregorova uncovers part of his friendly and unknown personality and understanding for his close ones. In second part of my work I am trying to put in a global context historical moments of Jewish inhabitants of Slovak area in the beginning of era of Czechoslovakia. I examine the moments of uniting the "diaspora" by...

Kučerová, Tereza ; Kucharská, Anna (advisor) ; Špačková, Klára (referee)
A b s t r a c t This thesis is a part of the project concerning risk factors of manifestation of specific learning disabilities in children at risk of dyslexia. Specifically, it deals with the development of morphology in children with family history of specific learning disabilities. Children in preschool and early school age have been repeatedly within three years tested with a diagnostic tool called Test of morphological awareness based on the Test of language (Žlab, 1992). The aim of the study was to map the development of several sub-areas of morphological skills (gender forms, plural nouns, past tense and 3rd person singular verb, adjectives derivation and grammatical agreement). Several issues were concerned. First, whether the development of children in this age group is still ongoing and so if the performance is improving. Second, whether there are differences in the development of children from an intact group (with normal speech development) and a risk group (children from families where at least one parent has suffered from specific learning disabilities). Third, whether is the development influenced by intelligence or sex. Performance of children was also assessed qualitatively with respect to specific language features included in the monitored areas of morphology. The conclusions of each...
