Paywalls and the future of journalism
Novotný, Jan ; Čermák, Miloš (advisor) ; Švelch, Jaroslav (referee)
The Master's diploma thesis examines the phenomenon of imposing paywalls on news content. By using qualitative interview research, case studies, theoretical and empirical analysis the thesis emphasizes mainly the differences between individual ways of imposing paywalls and also factors that can influence the process of implementing paywalls. Hypothesis claims that imposing paywalls on existing free content can serve as an incentive on the media market to reach a growing productivity of media enterprises in spite of a booming popularity of sharing free information. It depends whether the right business model is implemented. According to the hypothesis the right model is "metered model" that responds to the nature of the internet and implies that certain amount of content would remain free of charge. Both paid and free content spheres should have to be redefined by new ergonomy and new journalistic content.

Economics of Crime: Rational Offender and Moral Costs of Crime
Šilar, Milan ; Mlčoch, Lubomír (advisor) ; Gregor, Martin (referee)
Main weakness of economics of crime is that it focuses on rational offender who is isolated from society. This thesis gives overview of game theory models, which take into account possible reactions of other actors to offender`s actions. I show that some variables of crime are dependent on individual`s social environment and I analyze them using moral costs of crime, where some gains and losses from crime are interconnected between people. Two own models are presented. First model deals with aggregated crime with significant role of moral costs of crime. Second model is a modification of Inspection game which includes moral costs of crime and is than modeled using evolutionary game theory. Result of first model is higher volatility of crime than in standard models of rational offender. Crime is maximally volatile in time in the second model. There is a critical level of moral costs of crime and after reaching this level, assumptions of inspection game are violated and society converges to state with zero crime. It is demonstrated on both models that crime is a self- propagating phenomenon, because of social interactions.

Mechanical behaviour of variably saturated clay fills
Kostkanová, Vladislava
Mechanical behaviour of variably saturated clay fills VLADISLAVA KOSTKANOVÁ Ph.D. Thesis - English Abstract The excavated overburden from open-cast coal mines is end-dumped in fills. Clay type soil prevails among the filled soils in North-western Bohemia. As a consequence of the character and state of the soil, together with the mining and dumping technology, a typical lumpy structure of the clay fill is formed. The filled lumps range in size and vary in mechanical properties, but stiff to solid lumps up to 0.5 m in size are prevalent. Large and open macrovoids between the single lumps are a characteristic feature of the clay fills. Clay fills exhibit a double porosity structure, consisting of intergranular porosity between the lumps and intragranular porosity inside them. The total porosity of the freshly filled soils can reach 70%. This type of clay fill structure is metastable. This thesis focuses on the problematic behaviour of clay fill soils due to their metastable structure and their partly saturated state. Long-term monitoring of matric suction at depths up to 2 metres in two reclaimed clay fills revealed two different trends. Seasonally-dependent suction oscillations were recorded in the moderate slope of the clay fill in the Bílina mine, while no suction pointing to fully saturated conditions was...

Flowering of Day-Neutral Tobacco Nicotiana Tabacum L. as Influended by Transformation with CDC25
Vojvodová, Petra
Plants are sessile organisms and so they cannot escape changes in environmental conditions. In order to optimize seed production and to ensure that flowering occurs during the appropriate season, plants have evolved a complex of regulatory pathways to control when the floral transition takes place. One group of regulatory pathways involves enviromental factors like certain photoperiod or vernalization. The second group of regulatory pathways involves the state of development and is not sensitive to environmental cues, this pathway is called autonomous pathway and plants in this group do not require a particular photoperiod or vernalization, they are called day-neutral plants. The transition of these plants from vegetative to reproductive phase depends on combination of reaching certain minimal number of nodes, inhibition effect of roots, floral signals generated by leaves and activity of the shoot apical meristem (SAM). Among early events of the transition of SAM to reproductive phase belongs an increase in the mitotic activities of the cells in SAM. Precise mechanisms of the action of the signals connected with transition of SAM to flowering have not been elucidated yet. The plants of day-neutral tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.) cv. Samsun were transformed with fission yeast mitotic activator coded...

"Everything's light and everything's upwards, the dance of elephants being uppermost". The metaphors of the movement in poetry of the poet Vladimir Holan.
Hudcová, Zuzana ; Heczková, Libuše (advisor) ; Wiendl, Jan (referee)
The purpose of the thesis is to deal with a writings of Vladimir Holan as a thematic unity, where the motifs are transformed. The metamorphosis depend on a time, when they have been written in. Our used method of his writings is in a chronological order. This thesis is focused on the motif of a movement and his metamorphosis in poetry of Vladimir Holan. The aim is to penetrate the problems of the movement as a physical activity and approached the movement as a confirmation of existence on a basis of Patočka's phenomenological phylosophy. Other chapters pay attention to analysis of motifs of movement, which are recognizable in Holan's poetry. Their feature change from lightness and freedom to heaviness and limitation. Afterwards the point of this work reaches the axis: a wind - a wave - a water flowed - a bird - a cloud - a stone - a snake - a wall. Due to the better understanding of Holan's work, we make a passing comment about the motifs which are connected with notised above. These connections will able to put our thoughts about Holan's conception in order.

Performance management
Štěpán, Radek ; Matuštík, Ondřej (advisor) ; Oškrdal, Václav (referee)
The corporate performance management (CPM) is a frequently discussed concept. Companies are looking for a solution, which could help them satisfy more customers, reach lower costs and therefore increase own financial results. An implementation of the CPM system is one of the approaches to support corporate priorities by supporting its decision making. The CPM offers alignment of enterprise objects with its processes and answers the questions "How are we doing? Why? What should we be doing?" This work is divided into three parts. First part provides an introduction into performance management, levers up the merits and reveals its cornerstones and offers historic insight. The second part analyses current market situation of CPM products. The final third part summaries trends and predicts future development based on discovered dependencies.

Politics, Animation and Comics
Won, Sang-Eun ; KUBÍČEK, Jiří (advisor) ; Mertová, Michaela (referee)
Korean cinematography gained liberty after the military regime, but the situation depends on political situation. The growth of Korean cinematography shows influences of the policies by every korean government. Thanks to the world-wide success of Korean films, korean viewers perceive how the conservative government tries to control the film industry, and they know how to react to it. For example, the film 26 years (2012) - it was not possible to be shot because of the interruption by the conservative government. Because this film contains massacre in 1980 in the city Kwangju by the dictator, and the dictator is still alive. However future viewers of the film supported it, and the production invited subscriptions to a fund. Finally the film was finished in 2012, and distributed to cinemas all around south Korea. However korean animation is out of viewer's concern, even though it has been the biggest scapegoat by policies of Korean government. Every conservative government have used korean comics as a scapegoat whenever they reached problems. When there were serious criminals of youth or criminals against children, korean government strengthened censorships about comics. Some comics were banned, and authors of these comics could not work on their comics. It happened in 1997, and has began again in 2012.

Application of the Theory of Statistics to Controlling Processes
Strašák, Tomáš ; Zichová, Jitka (referee) ; Koch, Roman (advisor)
This dissertation is considered to statistical control of call center. There are suggested a possible description of the center and identify key parameters which influence its performance on the base of measured informations. In this work is describe construction of a call center model which is used for generation specified scenarios of incoming phonecalls. This experimental data are analyzed, main factors which influence its efficienty are determined and principles which realization can be reached given targets are described. Basic attention lead to maximization of benefit and consequetive estimation optimal amount of operators. These principles as same as estimated dependances subserve as decision-making knowledge what amount of operators and theirs expedient combinations is optimal and for estimation of impact to efficiency and call center function in a case of making changes.

Statistical analysis of resocialization care after prison release
Dlouhá, Šárka ; Hlavsa, Tomáš (advisor) ; Michal, Michal (referee)
The level of crime has to be regulated in order to prevent the crime to cause major damage to society. Therefore it is profitable to address criminal recidivism as well. Recidivism is caused by a complicated process of reintegration of people with criminal records back to society. The main goal of this thesis was to find the main factors affecting reintegration process of people after incarceration. The thesis is trying to reach the results by quantitative research, specifically examining the frequencies and dependence of categorical variables. The main factors which influence the reintegration process of people with criminal past are unemployment and indebtedness. These elements are affected by certain demographic factors. These factors also influence the type of criminal activity and the probability of criminal recidivism.

Rozdíly mezi pohlavími jako reakce na prodejní pobídky
Solilyak, Maryna ; Král, Petr (advisor) ; Zlatić, Marija (referee)
Today, more and more similar products in one product line appear on store shelves, and buying decisions have become more complicated for the consumer. Despite this, producers have a clear vision that one of the most effective tools that can be used to distinguish their products is sales promotion. Nevertheless, every customer is unique, and the responses to sales promotion tools differ as well. The reason for sales promotion campaigns success depends on the depth of understanding of consumer behaviour. In order to create a successful communication campaign, marketers should be aware in the best ways of reaching the desired consumers. In this work we will take a look at the gender differences in consumer behaviour. In particular, we would like to see different responses toward men and women toward sales promotion campaigns.
