Consciousness and unconsciousness. Theoretical analysis
Skála, Pavel ; Kebza, Vladimír (advisor) ; Uhlář, Pavel (referee)
This theoretical study is looking into consciousness, unconsciousness and concepts that are associated with it. It also goes back to the historical approach to these two terms, yet it points out the terminological obstacles that are inseparably connected with them. Both constructs are being discussed from an integrated perspective therefore neither mapping of the neurobiology of consciousness nor the summary of the major approaches to the philosophical mind-body problem, is left out of consideration. The unconsciousness research methods are divided according to the predominant focus into experimental and clinical. The study also covers an analysis as well as a review of significant theoretical approaches to consciousness and unconsciousness. These theoretical concepts were classified based on distinction of relevant scientific disciplines that are used to describe the problems in question. Neurobiological, psychological and philosophical theories were later categorized according to this method. The final conclusion brings a complex overview of these topics previously dealt with in the study. It attempts to integrate the findings into a comprehensive framework and to deal with some general issues that indicate possibilities and limits of the theoretical and practical research into both phenomena....

Route belts as a organismus biotops
BABKA, Vladimír
Todays landscape is exposed to continually increasing human activities stress. The original biotopes are disturbed and fragmented from small to smaller segments. This fact can negatively influence the biodiversity. The railway line construction is a kind of such model, in this case its planed modernisation. This study deals with a railway embankment segment nr. 190 from Hluboká n. Vlt. to Zbudov. The aim of the work was to prove the railway line as an important and valuable biotope, which needs an enhanced attention. The vegetation biodiversity on four segments was studied. Totally 182 plant species were found with no rare species. The insect (beetles) species living in the wood of old trees were studied near the railway line. There were found 21 families with 52 beetle species where 3 species were rare. These important tree old stands were mapped too. The railway line history of this segment was processed too. The railway line creates a typical biotope with high vegetation biodiversity in this segment. The presence of the rare beetles living in the wood of old trees is more important.

Regional Identity of the Bohemian Paradise
Semian, Michal ; Chromý, Pavel (advisor) ; Vágner, Jiří (referee)
This thesis deals with the regional identity of the Bohemian Paradise. The main objective is to analyse identity of the region and regional consciousness of its inhabitants and to determine how they reflex the existence of the tourist region Bohemian Paradise. Thesis is also trying to determine to what extent the county border are barrier to the development of relations and cooperation between people and between institutions in the region. The first part gives an overview of theoretical background of studies of regional identity, identity of region and space polarisation. The second part analyzes the regional identity of the Bohemian Paradise in discussion of literature and other sources and trying to determine whether researchers and institutions think the Bohemian Paradise as peripheral region. The third part deals with analysis and interpretation of results of field research. Methodologically the thesis is based on the construction of mental maps, questionnaire inquiry and interviews.

The price of land in relation to its type and the attractiveness of its location
MIKEŠ, Jiří
This thesis which is called ``The price of land in relation to its type and the attractiveness of its location{\crqq} should help to survey the region of Vimperk and Freyung Grafenau from the point of view of the value of land, both construction and agricultural sites. The aim of this thesis is not to create a precise map with land prices, but to establish an approximate price level in the different municipalities on the basis of proven land deals. Another aim is to provide an analysis of various differences between the price levels of construction land and agricultural land and to establish significant and more detailed price-making factors on the basis of which price divergences occur. In the Vimperk region we found, that the market price of construction land significantly differs from the official prices and these cannot be used as lead for market prices. In the case of agricultural land we found that the market price is a multiple of the official price. Whether we deal with construction land or agricultural land, the most important thing concerning the establishment of their market price is the approximate knowledge of market deals in the selected area. The prices in the various areas are always location specific. In the German region of Freyung Grafenau we have found a different situation in market prices for land in comparison with the one in the Czech border district. The main reason for this fact is the higher level of economic development of Germany and the living standard of its inhabitants besides a well functioning and long lasting free real estate market. However, due to the quick economic recovery of the Czech border district, real estate prices approach the market price level in the German border district. The Vimperk region has a developed market for agricultural land and thus we cannot speak of underdevelopment of this market segment (as mentioned by Jiri Nemec in his monograph Land law and market of land, 2004). One of the reasons for this development might be the higher profit levels of farmers due to subsidy programs of the European Union. An important factor of influence on higher prices on the market for construction land is the intensive development of tourism, especially in the region of nature resort Sumava. In municipalities where tourism is a minor factor of importance, other data are significant for the price level such as number of inhabitants, local employment and other opportunities.

The influence of the Catholic church on the status of women in contemporary Czech and Italian society
Zoufalá, Marcela ; Soukup, Václav (advisor) ; Matějů, Martin (referee)
The object of the work is an empirical-theoretical analysis of the relation between institutionalized religious faith and the female role in the given context. There are several fundamental topics we have focused on in this comparative research: divorce, contraception, interruption, AIDS and preservative, assisted reproduction, the potential promotion of women in the hierarchy of the Catholic Church and duty of celibacy. The project is composed of two relatively independent parts. The concept of the first part forms a theoretical base, which should map the historical changes of the family institution, the phenomenon of gender as a cultural construct and the role of the Catholic Church as a significant sociocultural imperative. Second, the empirical part of the project requires survey-based research among Czech and Italian women. So far the questionnaire has been distributed in Italy (March - May 2005; the number of collected questionnaires from Italian respondents is 411) and in the Czech Republic (May - July 2006; the number of collected questionnaires from Czech respondents is 411). The next country where the research will be worked out is Slovakia (in the year 2007/2008).

Lattices and Codes
Rytíř, Pavel ; Loebl, Martin (advisor) ; Pangrác, Ondřej (referee)
This thesis studies triangular con gurations, binary matroids, and integer lattices generated by the codewords of a binary code. We study the following hypothesis: the lattice generated by the codewords of a binary code has a basis consisting only of the codewords. We prove the hypothesis for the matroids with the good ear decomposition. We study the operation of edge contraction in the triangular con gurations. Especially in cycles and acyclic triangular con gurations. For an arbitrary graph we nd a triangular con guration with the skeleton containing this graph as a minor. For every binary matroid we construct a triangular con guration such that the matroid is a minor of the con guration. We prove that between the cycle spaces of the matroid and the con guration exists a bijection. The bijection maps the circuits of the matroid to the circuits of the con guration.

Evolution of phonological contrast in sibilants - typological analysis
Vančura, Martin ; Bičovský, Jan (advisor) ; Duběda, Tomáš (referee)
Martin Vančura - Diplomová práce (2012) Evolution of phonological contrat in sibilants - typological analysis Abstract: The goal of this paper is to employ the paradigm of Greenbergian language typology to process diachronic data originating in the field of historical linguistics. In the first few chapters, I discuss both disciplines and identify some of the pitfalls of such an endeavour. The substance of this paper lies in chapter 4 where I try to demonstrate a real utilization of this diachronic typology on a specific set of data, represented by documented cases of the evolution of sibilants. Then I analyse the precise articulatory and evolutionary character of the sibilants in selected branches of the Indo- European language family and selected languages of the world and I attempt to uncover the common evolutionary tendencies of their sibilant systems. At the end of this chapter, I construct a map of sibilants' evolutionary trajectories and I propose some remarks on the general phonetics and phonology of sibilants.

Men's antifeminist identity - critical analysis of men's critique of feminist men.
Pavlas, Tomáš ; Havelková, Hana (advisor) ; Matonoha, Jan (referee)
The general question of this diploma thesis is the compatibility of present ideas of masculinity with democracy. The thesis narrows down the field of study onto men's antifeminist identity and maps out the variety within men's antifeminist movement. The methodology of the presented research is based on semantic and discursive analyses. The identity of antifeminist men is not studied independently, but by the means of a critical analysis of the antifeminist men's construction of their relationship to feminist men. The analyzed material consists of texts in which men are critical of feminist men. The thesis shows in what ways antifeminist men use diverse discursive techniques to construct various images of feminist men, images of themselves, and images of their mutual relationships. Great attention is also paid to a critical analysis of such constructions delivered from the perspective of gender studies and men's studies; the position of the author of this thesis is also explicitly acknowledged as a departure point for a critical reflection of the discussed images, their relationships and mechanisms of their construction. Further, a collection of social practices by means of which antifeminist men contribute to the construction of "reality" are introduced. The studied case of antifeminist identity is put...

Genesis of the Belarussian National Identity (1863-1958)
Linitskaya, Natallia ; Štaif, Jiří (advisor) ; Pullmann, Michal (referee)
The study follows the process of the construction of belarussian national identity between the second half of the 19th and the first half of the 20th centuries in terms of community of name, language, territory and historical memories. This subjective foundation of a nation does not blend in the belarussian case with the civic model. Historical memory of Kalinovski's Uprising demonstrates the dubiousness of using a common historical past which itself corresponds with that of Russia and Poland. On the contrary, the allocating of belarussian national identity according to social demands was convinient. Unsuccesful vindication of the historical legacy of "Litva" and the failure of Belarussian to become the language of bureaucracy caused a decoupling of the genealogical bonds from the national identity. The longing of "tutejshi" for social happiness facilitated the appropriation of national identity as essentially a soviet one. Belarussians are becoming Belarussians as toiling people who are emancipated in a national state, deliniated by the colonial map. Keywords: Belarus, national identity, nationalism, national state, belorussification, «tutejshi»
