The density estimation of Large carnivores in the selected parts of West Carpathians and factors affecting their occurance
Kuruganti, Shaldayya
The study showed that density estimation of Eurasian lynx corresponds to 1.3 and 1.2 independent individuals per 100 km2 in the Jvorniky study area for the two time periods and 0.8 independent individuals per 100 km2 for Beskydy study area. The study failed to identify other large carnivores such a wolf (Canis lupus) and bear (Ursus arctos) from both Beskydy and Javorniky study areas. The estimated density of Lynx is low and their numbers should increase in future. There is enough prey base to support the existing population in the two study areas. The main factors effecting Lynx distribution are habitat fragmentation, poaching by humans, depleting the prey base by over hunting leading to starvation, vehicle collisions. Strict measures should be implemented to protect the species and long term study programmes must be started to get a comprehensive knowledge about the biology of species. Reintroductions must be carried over where there are suitable habitat for the survival and propagation of Lynx. The reason for not detecting wolf or bear might be due to the fact that the study areas are wide and the few migrating wolf or bear might be present outside my study area. Also there is lot of possibility to reintroduce wolf in my study area and I hope this will be done in future to ensure better biodiversity and to ensure wildlife conservation.

Karyotypic evolution in eye-lid geckos (Squamata: Eublepharidae), a group with different modes of sex-determination
Pokorná, Martina
Chromosome rearrangements represent one of the most striking phenomena related to speciation. Nevertheless, their importance for other evolutionary processes is not well understood yet. Within some groups we observe even variability in the presence or absence of differentiated sex chromosomes. Such variability has a crucial role for our comprehension of general principles regarding the evolution of sex determining mechanisms. From this point, the family Eublepharidae is a very interesting model group as it includes species with both genetic sex determination and temperature-dependent sex determination. The investigation of the karyotype composition as well as of the structure and homology of sex chromosomes within such taxa could bring valuable information on the general evolutionary processes leading to the differentiation of karyotypes and sex chromosomes. In this work the description of karyotypes in several selected species of the family Eublapharidae was done by available cytogenetic techniques. I have examined following species: Coleonyx brevis, C. elegans, C. mitratus, C. variegatus, Eublepharis angramainyu, E. macularius, Goniurosaurus araneus, G. lichtenfelderi,G. luii, G. splendens, Hemitheconyx caudicinctus, Holodactylus africanus. It was found that the karyotypic differentiation among...

Application of the Option Methodology to Guarantee Valuation
Hruboň, Lukaš ; Valach, Josef (advisor) ; Scholleová, Hana (referee) ; Zmeškal, Zdeněk (referee)
This dissertation focuses on guarantees with a special emphasis on the option method of guarantee valuation. The existing domestic and international literature does not present a comprehensive debate on guarantee valuation with a sufficient discussion of the role of the guarantor. In addition, a minimal number of sources are devoted to the option valuation of guarantees applied to non-traded companies (and their structures) typical for the Czech Republic, which might inter alia have led to the marginal practical experience of the Czech valuation experts with the method. Following the identified blind spots of the current knowledge, the thesis primarily (i) presents coherent theoretical underpinnings of guarantee valuation, (ii) provides a proposed option valuation approach to guarantee valuation and (iii) demonstrates through a case study of the HAME holding an application of the proposed approach, including an evaluation of its strengths and weaknesses. Based on an analysis and synthesis of the domestic and international literature, a poll among the Czech valuation institutes and a numerical application on the historic HAME holding case, the author observes the following main findings: (i) on a theoretical bases, the option guarantee valuation method presents a plausible way of analysis, (ii) the proposed option valuation approach is applicable in the Czech praxis. Despite these positive prima facie findings, the option valuation approach shall be subject to further testing, comparisons with competing methods and improvements resulting from an increased number of its practical applications.
