Holý, Václav ; Brodec, Jan (referee) ; Kučera, Zdeněk (advisor)
The relationship between direct regulation of an international sales contract and that under the conflict of laws rules (Master's degree thesis) Abstract The purpose of my thesis is to analyse the relation between the regulation based on the CISG and the regulations based on the conflict of laws rules. The reason for my research is the important role that the unified CISG regulation plays in the international commerce and the complicated legal issues connected with its sphere of application in particular at the moment, when the nature of conflict of laws rules changes throughout Europe. My thesis is based mainly on foreign sources, German, English and Spanish in particular. It includes a representative sample of relevant court decisions and arbitral awards as well. Czech sources are used especially when dealing with theoretical and general question. Occasionally some Czech court decisions are included. The thesis is composed of three chapters, proceeding from the general issues to the specific ones. Chapter One deals with the most general questions of relation between CISG and conflict of laws rules. The chapter is subdivided into four parts. Part One describes the relation between CISG and conflict of laws rules in respect of their legal power and explains that CISG has to be applied before the conflict of...

Křemenáková, Radka ; Váňová, Růžena (advisor) ; Valenta, Josef (referee)
The paper "The Teachers' Training College in Kutná Hora and its Changes in Development of the between 1870 and 1948" presents a survey of the history of the institution from the time of its foundation in 1870 till 1948 when it was dissolved in compliance with the measures enforced in the education for elementary school teachers. The information presented in this work was acquired through a thorough study of the accessible sources and is supported by the relevant legal regulations applicable to the education for elementary school teachers in training colleges for teachers valid in all of the respective given periods. These proved to be invaluable sources of explanations of all internal changes made in the aforementioned institution during different stages of its life and development. They have also granted a more complex outlook at the ways in which the elementary school teachers were being educated in the past.

A picture of man in the works by Endo Shusaku
Dušáková, Hana ; Tirala, Martin (referee) ; Švarcová, Zdeňka (advisor)
The works of Endo Shusaku and the themes discussed in them derive from his own unique life. Drawing on hi experience with isolation and misunderstanding in a foreign environment, and then his being an exception in Japan for his Catholic faith, Endo certainly shows profound understanding for those in similar situations, and his observations become even more relevant in the present-day world where multiculturalism and migration are some of the foremost issues. In spite of the complexities that interactions between various cultures, nationalities and beliefs bring, Endo's novels reveal hope that these differences will not be impediment to mutual tolerance and understanding across these boundaries. Essential to this understanding and compassion with others will be individuals who resemble the protagonists appearing in the three novels we have examined: people who dare to listen to their conscience and follow their inherent sense for justice, even at the cost of "going against the current" and the risk of losing the favor of majority. This, I believe, would be the "message" Endo's works, and also the reason why he remains one of the most respected contemporary authors. This paper's objective was the discussion of Endo Shusaku's characters and the portrayal of man in his novels. This is a theme that could be also...

Posouzení situace "Vily Anička" z hlediska zákona č. 183/2006 Sb. o územním plánování a stavebním řádu ("Stavební zákon")
Neumannová, Dita ; Šulcová, Irena (advisor) ; Jelínek, Luděk (referee)
I propose to assess in my Bachelor's work the influence of the Construction Law on the building of the family house that is known as "Anička" ("Annie" in English) and which I shall henceforth refer to as "Vila Anička". The house is in the Secessionist style and has Land Register No 492 in Gončárova Street, Plot No 574, in the area covered by the Hradec Králové Land Register. In the first chapters I propose to describe and characterise in general terms the procedure for demolishing a building, the process of land and construction management, and the influence of the relevant bodies and their stance towards the construction and the architectural plans. I then propose to assess the conditions and requirements for undertaking the construction and the use of the building. In the second part of my Bachelor's work, I should like to go into more detail about the Generali Hradec Králové plan, whereby Generali Pojišťovna, a.s. (Generali Insurance Company Inc) intended to build a new administrative building on the site of Vila Anička. The capital investment in the construction of the new building was interrupted when architectural specialists submitted a proposal that Vila Anička should be registered as a listed building. The declaration of Vila Anička as a cultural monument was pivotal in the licensing process pursuant to the Construction Law and had a decisive effect with respect to authorisation of demolition of the building and subsequent building control. The aim of my Bachelor's work is to assess in a wider context the impact of the Generali Hradec Králové plan from the point of view of protection of public interests, town planning and the urban values in a given areas versus the interests propagated by the investor.

The influence of income taxeson the inequality rate in the Czech Republic
Chvojková, Tereza ; Pavel, Jan (advisor) ; Vítek, Leoš (referee)
The goal of this thesis is to analyse the influence of income taxeson the inequality rate in the Czech Republic. The incometaxes in this paper include the person income tax, the health insuranceand the social security insurance. In the relevant period a significant change in the system of income tax was implemented. While the year 2007 was the last year when tax brackets, i.e. the concept of the progressive tax system, were used, since 2008 we encounter the so-called flat tax where the rate is set at 15%, i.e. the linear tax system. The first chapter of this paper looks into the possibilities of analysing the tax progressiveness in general. The presentation of the methods proceeds from the simplest to the more complicated ones. The second part sums up the results of several foregoing researches in this field. The third chapter deals with an analysis of gross monetary income of households and their tax burden. This analysis and the one carried out in the fourth chapter are based on data provided by the Czech Statistical Office. The fourth chapter of this thesis studies the development of tax progressivity in the relevant period. For this analysis four methods were chosen: the Lorenz 5 curve and the Gini coefficient, the Musgrave-Thin index, the Kakwani index and the Robin Hood index. From the results reached by these indexes can be concluded that the level of income tax progressivity in the Czech Republic is low.

The development of czech sport's photojournalism from the middle of 20th century
Hejbal, Dominik ; Láb, Filip (advisor) ; Teplá, Jana (referee)
The paper deals with the development of the Czech journalistic sport photography from mid 20th century until recent time. Conditions that influenced the work of sports photographers are mapped, whether it was technical equipment, political constraints or other relevant facts. The paper mentions key events that have had importance in the Czech sports photography. The very beginnings of the Czech sports photography are described, too, to add context with the period followed. Furthermore, some noteworthy cases are mentioned, such as career change of a professional sportsman to a sport photographer. Ethically doubtful practices, once quite frequent, are followed, too. Another infrequently studied area of interest is discussed, which is the phenomenon of successful pictures of neglected events. The paper also provides the reader with a list of the foremost Czech sports photographers, a quantitative analysis of sport photos in the Rude Pravo daily (name later changed to Pravo). Main moments of change are studied from the point of view of the extent of the sport photography on the pages of Czech dailies. Since this topic has not been extensively covered by books, an important part of the paper is based on original interviews with veteran Czech sport photographers, including Stanislav Tereba, the only Czech winner...

Public debt and household debt
Kvasnička, Jan ; Schneider, Ondřej (referee) ; Gregor, Martin (advisor)
In this thesis, we analyse both the theoretical and the empirical determinants of household debt and public debt, or, more generally, the determinants of saving of these entities. A short survey of the relevant theoretical and empirical literature is presented in the opening chapters. In the second part of the thesis, the tax smoothing model is extended by abandoning the assumption of a benevolent social planner. The main result of the model is a demonstration of the fact, that voters can vote over public budget decits in order to shift relatively high taxation of income into periods in which their income is relatively low. Through this channel, changes in income inequality can be indirectly reflected in public saving.
