Remittances in Mexico: Instrument for Poverty Reduction?
Černá, Lucie ; Šánová, Lucie (advisor) ; Kučerová, Irah (referee)
Diploma thesis "Remittances in Mexico: Instrument for Poverty Reduction?" deals with the problem of remittances sent by Mexican migrants from USA to their families and their potential impact on poverty reduction. Remittances represent the second largest source of external finances for Mexico- right after revenues from oil exports. They even exceed incomes from tourism and foreign direct investments. Mexican government, together with migrant clubs in USA launched a program to promote more effective use of remittances. The aim of my thesis is to evaluate the impact of remittances on Mexican economy, concretely on poverty reduction. Firstly I will focus on Mexican migration trends in the context of Latin American and Caribbean region, because remittances are the most tangible demonstration of international labor migration. The second chapter addresses to remittances in general and in the next part I will focus on situation in Mexico in three partial periods: the beginning of 21. century, then I evaluate the circumstances after the terrorist attacks in 2001 and third period deals with the upcoming financial crisis and its impact on the flows of remittances. Last chapter involves evaluation of the impact of remittances on sending and receiving countries and Mexico and appraisal of successfulness of the...

Effect of ponds and pond systems on the composition of the benthos in horní Lužnice
SVAČINA, Petr
The work is focused on monitoring changes in benthic communities in the longitudinal gradient of the river Lužnice. The river flows through to the pond area Třeboňsko and the largest pond of the Czech Republic - Rožmberk. It is examine affect of pond on benthic communities. The work involves collecting benthos according to the PERLA method on four profile in four seasons, the analysis of chemical parameters and data processing. The values of SI (saprobiological index) in the longitudinal gradient were from SI 1.8 to SI 2.6. SI values were at the outflow of Rožmberk higher than at inflow. The lowest values were in the first profile Suchdol (SI 1,8 ? SI 2,1) and higher values were in the last profile Vlkov (SI 2,4 ? 2,6). The chemical parameters at outflow were observed increased values of BOD5, TOC, NL105, NL505, chlorophyll and total P but lower values of nitrogen forms (Ntotal,NH4, N-NO3-). On the each profile was the significant change in the incidence or absence of certain groups. Profiles Suchdol and Hlína were diferent than Lužnice and Vlkov especially in the presence of stoneflies, dragonflies, beetles, and individuals generally indicates good water quality. Profiles at outflows from Rožmberk (Lužnice and Vlkov) showed a continued presence of bloodsuckers and more species indicating high organic pollution. NMDS method confirmed impact of sites in communities rather than period (R2 = 0.6 at significance level of p = 0.001).

Drugda, Zbyněk ; Jiránková, Martina (advisor) ; Erbenová, Monika (referee)
This bachelor thesis describes the development of economic relationships between the United States and China. The main target of the thesis is to confirm or disprove, whether China represents a threat to US hegemony and if the disparity in merchandise trade of goods between China and the United States with its impact on current account deficit may be one of the proves of this peril. Hegemony is a combination of soft and hard powers, therefore the thesis analyses economy and its competiveness, military power and culture attractiveness, in order to determine current and prospective global leader.

The aim of this thesis is to describe a method of measuring the heat flow through the substratum or soil with self-calibrating heat flux sensor HFP-01SC (Hukseflux, The Netherlands) and to confirm the appropriateness of its use. In addition, this paper should be a manual for applications using this sesnor. Submitted work should be a contribution to disciplines dealing with measurement of heat flow through the substratum or soil.

Czech-German Economic Ties after the 2004 EU Enlargement: A Neofunctionalist Perspective
Janíčko, Martin ; Kučerová, Irah (advisor) ; Petříček, Tomáš (referee)
The submitted diploma thesis deals with the issue of the Czech-German economic relations after the 2004 enlargement of the European Union. Economic relations are in more detail divided into the trade relations and the investment (financial) relations. The main aim of the thesis is to evaluate the hypothesis that the so called "Eastern Enlargement" has led to somewhat intensified determination of the economic development in the Czech Republic by the one in Germany. The pivotal transmission mechanism in this process should have been positive spill-over effects that might have been in effect even before the very accession of the European Union by the Czech Republic. Such spill-over effects, that to an extent allowed for more significant determination of the Czech business cycle by the German one, may take form of e.g. common European Union trade framework, deregulation of capital flows, and/or perspective of the future development of the Czech economy within the European Union.

The Role of Action in the Perspective of Hannah Arendt's Political Philosophy in Contemporary Civil Society
Muzikářová, Šárka ; Novotný, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Skovajsa, Marek (referee)
For the philosopher Hannah Arendt, the term vita activa comprehends three fundamental human activities-labor, work and action. All three activities shall be part of our life and, ideally, they shall be balanced. Besides being in balance, Arendt believes that action is the most important one of them. Through action, man steps out of the loneliness which he needs for his work and enters the public realm that helps to form. There he establishes a mutual relationships with the others, negotiates, persuades and confirms his presence. But this is not possible if a man transforms himself, because of his relation to work, into the homo faber or, in the worst case, into the animal laborans. Work and expenditure take control of his life. This, together with bureaucracy, the influence of technology and mass being, increases the feeling of loneliness and insignificancy, and opens a space for violence, terror and ideology what can cause the governance of totalitarianism. If we agree that Arendt's conception of the public realm is, in the basic characteristics and on the most general level, similar to civil society from our modern viewpoint, we gain "new" realm where man can act and can gain the experience of action. The integrity of his vita activa is restored. It means that a man should be less threatened by...

Dualism in Italy
Báčová, Pavla ; Písař, Pavel (advisor) ; Stočková, Olga (referee)
The main purpose of my bachelor thesis will be to confirm the backwardness of Southern Italy in comparison with the north of Italy by use of macroeconomic indicators which are mainly published by ISTAT and other organizations. Furthermore, I will try to confirm the fact that the backwardness of the south of Italy is largely caused by the influence of Mafia - would Southern Italy be an equal partner of the north or would it possibly be more prosperous in the absence of Mafia? This analysis will be complemented by the actual steps taken by the Italian government and various southern Italian regions carried out to improve the current situation. Further, I will propose my own procedures of how to fight this extraordinary phenomenon or at least, how to find a way to reduce it. In the next part, I shall discuss the progressive development and causes of dualism in the north and south of Italy, by means of which I will, after a more thorough examination, try to sketch an idea of why Italy is, despite being a unified country, continually split into two completely different regions.

Stimulating and relaxing effect of apperception music in the context of martial arts
ŠPIČKA, Roman
The work deals with the influence of music on mental and physical manifestations of a personality in the practice of the Taekwon-Do. The theoretical part describes the history and the present of the Taekwon-Do, the basic structure of the music therapy and various effects of music, Taekwon-Do exercises and a relaxation. The practical part compares four groups of probands who practiced or relaxed listening to a music or without any music. My research was focused on the emotional level and the heart rate. I defined four hypotheses: H1 - The average heart rate is higher in probands exercising while listening to a stimulating music than in probands exercising without any musical stimulus., H2 - Average values of the excitations in the emotinal level are higher in probands excercising while listenig to a stimulating music than in probands excercising without any musical stimulus. H3 - The average heart rate is lower in probands relaxing while listening to a calming music than in probands relaxing without any music., H4 - Average values of the calming effect of a relaxing music are higher in probands relaxing listening to the music than in probands relaxing without the music. The research was designed as a quantitative and a comparative study. The anamnestic questionnaire and the metod of direct measurement of the heart rate was used for the data collection. The data were presented in tables and graphs. The results of my research - the differences between the four groups - showed and confirmed all of my hypotheses.
