Visual aspect of local election campaigns in 2010

This bachelor thesis is titled Visual aspect of local election campaigns in 2010 and it concerns the visual aspect of election campaigns before elections to the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic in 2010. Text is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part introduces concept of the complex communicate and his specifics, describes cooperation between image and text, concerns photography as a mean of political advertising communication, manipulation, retouch, objectivity and perception of photographs. The practical part describes the visual aspect of election campaigns of five political parties: Czech Social Democratic Party, Civic Democratic Party, TOP 09, Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia and Public Affairs. These political parties gained more than five percent of electoral votes and therefore they have their representatives in the Chamber of Deputies. Campaigns took place in spring 2010. Thesis focuses mainly on the outdoor advertisement like billboards, citylights, posters and leaflets. Campaigns are described in individual chapters with use of combination of methods of qualitative analysis based on Roland Barthes (Rhetoric of the Image) and Gillian Rose (Visual Methodologies). The theme of this thesis is based on my interest in art around 1900and follows my Bachelor thesis. In chronological sequenced chapters will show Arnošt Hofbauer's life story and describe his artistic development, among others it will also analyze foundation of S. V. U. Mánes, periodical Volné směry etc. In the end of the thesis I attached the catalogs of his work from public and private collections for a complete view of his work. The aim of this thesis is to present Hofbauer's creative work in the most integrated form and in cultural-historical context. I attempt to evaluate his position in the Czech art history.
The visual matter of Hezbollah on Southern suburb of Beirut

The author of the graduation research on the theme Visual Matter of Hezbollah on Southern Suburb of Beirut deals with the issue by unconventional approach of sociocultural anthropology. Through the application of Alfred Gell's and Robert Layton's art theory he assess what are the values incorporated in material culture of Hezbollah using to its self presentation. The author provides a description of examples and subsequently finds parallels in the material objects and what kind of an agency these objects are carrying. The paper is divided into theoretical and empirical part. The opening of the work also briefly deals with the history of Lebanon's shia confession and as well as history of the movement itself. Further, the empirical part is divided into three sections. The first is devoted to poster's and billboard's expression of Hezbollah, the second is focused on the urban estate of southern suburbs of Beirut and in the last section the author focused on small souvenir items and things of daily use. Finally, he concludes that the material culture of Hezbollah in Dahieh seem to be connected in logical but unexpected contexts - the art with politics, communication with the urban space and technology with culture. Hollywood mainstream marketing tools analysis

This masters thesis titled "Hollywood mainstream marketing tools analysis: Has Hollywood marketing outrun the production itself?" aims to describe the state and issues of contemporary film marketing. It poses the question of whether the marketing behind the films is so sophisticated that it gets ahead of the movies. Furthermore, the thesis deals with the fact that this excessive attention to endless refinement of promotional materials for the film - together with the individual marketing tools - ultimately harms the impression from the movie in the eyes of its viewers. They can often feel dissatisfied or even defrauded. This hypothesis is demonstrated and disproved on the basis of specific examples and partial analysis.

Vizual Representaion of Selected Electronic Music Styles

This work is the result of the transfer of the author's musical experiences, perceptions and ideas to a static visual form. Selected electronic music styles like Dubstep, Breakbeat, Drumandbass, Trance, Techno, Psytrance have some typical characters that the author tries to capture in visual form. The result is a set of computer work that represent the musical styles and express the author's visual ideas that gets through the listening of the musical styles.
Ostalgie in Czech art

This thesis Ostalgie in Czech art summarizes recent history of art aimed to fifties and sixties of the twentieth century and also the fundamental notion of Czech cultural time - socialist realism. In opposition to the term 'socialist realism', there is a term 'ostalgie', which is focused on a nostalgic memories during normalization. In the theoretical part of this thesis author presents and explains the two main terms and focuses on the cultural aspects which were brought or denied to the nation by to the socialistic system in those times. In the practical part the author follows the theoretical part, especially in creating posters, which is influenced by nostalgic spirit.
The Role of a Poster in the Present-day Society

This thesis consists of two parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the problems of visual information and public communication, investigates the role of poster, or billboard in the present-day society. The practical part uses of analysis, synthesis and comparison of theoretical knowledge with artistic experience to create two series of graphic art on the theme ?Women - Gender - position?. These graphic works have the function of poster and billboard. These posters are created by computer graphics. The aim of this thesis is to create artistically valuable works based on theoretical knowledge about the nature, purpose, functions, opportunities and development of graphic design. These works also become a stimulus for thought and discussion on the theme ?Women - gender - positions?.

Abstract This thesis consists of practical and theoretical part. The former which is essential contains 4 final versions of posters related to ecology accompanied with series of drafts. Posters and drafts are made with help of computer graphic programs Adode Photoshop and Corel Draw and printed on paper of size A2 and A3 respectively. The latter is made up from 3 chapters and constitutes an explanatory text for above mentioned posters. The first chapter deals with ecological problems in general and elucidates the reason why this topic has been chosen as well as specifying the particular issues pictured on the posters. The second chapter explains the choice of poster as a communication medium and characterizes briefly its history. The last chapter tries to clarify reasons that led the author of this thesis to choices of the technique; subsequently it describes the process of the creation and the ideas pictured. In the conclusion the author emphasizes the importance of teaching of this topic at the basic schools.
The art as a marketing tool

The goal of this thesis is to present the reader with a more comprehensive picture of using the art as a marketing method. The fundamental focus is dedicated to poster art, from its origins (as a tool for bringing the goods and services closer to the public), up to its contemporary role and many possibilities of this advertising tool. The thesis further covers more forms and combinations of art and marketing, like interconnection of graphic design with corporate identity. As the standards of the graphic design in the Czech Republic are very high, the author concentrates mainly on domestic creative activities and presents concrete examples of corporate identities. The analytic chapter of the thesis is presented by a questionnaire research of public orientation in the matter. The target of the analysis was to discover, whether an how the art and marketing interconnection affects people, what they think about it and what particular (hence most successful) projects are taken in public awareness.
