Kárová, Julie ; Raková, Svatava (advisor) ; Calda, Miloš (referee)
The Bachelor thesis The Great Migration of African Americans between 1916 - 1930 and its impact on their society and culture deals with the migration of African Americans from the southern states of USA to north-eastern cities, using the examples of New York and Chicago. This movement of approximately 1.5 million people is considered a great redistribution of the African American population, which had a major impact on black society. A direct cause of the migration was the development of black neighbourhoods Harlem (New York) and South Side (Chicago). Particularly Harlem became the center of the flowering of African American culture in the 1920's, which became known as the Harlem Renaissance. The aim of this thesis is to analyze the impact of the migration to New York and Chicago on African American urban society and culture, which was evolving during the 1920's. It examines up to what extent can be the first phase of the Great Migration between 1916 and 1930 considered a key period for the development of black communities in Harlem and South Side and looks at the importnance of these advancing neighbourhoods. It presents the Harlem Renaissance as one of the main consequences of black urbanization and tries to examine the new atmosphere and tendencies of the urban African American population, in connection...

Pharmacology and toxicology of ketamine
Bažantová, Tereza ; Trejtnar, František (advisor) ; Melicharová, Ludmila (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to provide an overview of pharmacological and toxicological characteristics of ketamine. Special attention was given to the data related to the developments and current situation with the abuse of the substance in Western population. Ketamine is a dissociative anesthetic with significant analgesic effects and a broad spectrum of clinical applications, as well as considerable safety in overdose. New applications are being investigated for the treatment of asthma, migraine, and depressions. A number of studies have shown that ketamine affects monoaminergic and glutaminergic neurotransmission. Non-competitive inhibition of NMDA receptors is the most important mechanism of action in the nervous system. However, it also influences opioid, adrenergic, hydroxytryptamine and other receptors and has an impact on the processes mediated by them. To a large extent, the effects of ketamine depend on its enantiomeric form. Rapidly administered ketamine leads to significant deficits in semantic and episodic memory; long-term administration may be related to prolonged episodic memory deficits. Hallucinations, confusion, nervousness, euphoria, flashback, social introversion, and other symptoms have been recorded. In addition, ketamine may affect certain functions of the cardiovascular,...

Strnad, Jakub ; Kopkáně, Heřman (advisor) ; Neubauer, Edmund (referee)
The financial analysis of a company is a substantial instrument in the uncovering study of a financial health, credibility and ability to create the added value for the owners of the company and further partial indicators which are helpful for understanding of the present stage of the company. It may also concern the individual fluctuations and consequent results with their causes. The information capacity of the financial analysis depends to the certain extent on the used input data which we are going to use for the composition analysis. From the knowledge of this finding follows who is the beneficiary of the financial analysis or who will be the final user making decisions on the basis of this evidence. The financial analysis of PKS MONT, joint stock company was made through freely accessible data to the public, as they are published together with their update on the internet. Bearing in mind the importance of this project, which must meet the high standards in introducing it into the real situation together with providing the feedback to the already made decisions for executive directors of the particular company. Meanwhile, it was necessary to make more accurate these findings through the public data. The data correction itself could not take place without internal basic documents. The method of partial corrections has been determined on the basis of these documents. These partial corrections have led to volume eliminations which were a burden in the informational channel of the company. As the primary goal of this project was to work out the financial analysis for the need of the company management itself, it was the most suitable to choose such indicators, whose aptitudes would provide a comprehensible picture of the real situation. To meet this requirement four areas are going to be used: assessment of the property structure of the company including source coverage, the comparison of partial indicators with trends of market development and the declaration of following hypotheses, application of the modern indicators with the objective to find out the investor company potential together with meeting the owners` demands last but not least the determination of methodological procedures for the improvement of accounting records. Thanks to the methods mentioned above and with the help of the financial analysis, comprehensive insight has been reach on the company itself from the point of view of the individual within dynamic competitive environment having large potential in the coming future.

Ritualization of death and dying in the Revolution of 1848: the cult of the dead
Randák, Jan ; Hlavačka, Milan (advisor) ; Řepa, Milan (referee) ; Kořalka, Jiří (referee)
Looking apart from subsidiary topics, the presented thesis generally attempts to take a non-traditional view of the subject of the revolutionary year of 1848. While a vast majority of the existing research has been focused on the course of the revolution, particular political camps and leaders of the contemporary movement, I have put emphasis on a phenomenon seemingly concealed and disregarded. My attention was aimed on the dead, the victims of the events of this hectic period. Death as such has indeed been a traditional interest of historians, nevertheless, reception and reflection thereof in a political or rather a revolutionary context is a fairly less regarded subject. Therefore, I have laid out an indeed concrete topíc in my thesis - ritualisation of death and dying during the revolution of 1848. A simple question is apparent: why study this subject of the dead and victims in the Czech context when no major fights occured here and thus the number of fatalities was not extreme? After reading my thesis the answer com es up as obviously as the question does: despite a relatively low body count of the Pentecost events in June 1848, a cult of the dead and victims of the revolution 1848 is present in the course of the few restless months. The cult of the dead was a sophisticated means of using the victims to...
