Agreements and contracts within copyright law
Jurista, Erik ; Křesťanová, Veronika (advisor) ; Holcová, Irena (referee)
Summary: Contractual copyright law The aim of this thesis is to analyse the current state of regulation of contractual copyright law in the Czech Republic. I have chosen this topic, because I am an amateur photographer and knowledge of different kinds of contracts dealing with copyright might be very useful for me in the future. Knowing most of details affecting final conditions of the contract is the best way, how to exploit my work well, and, what is even more important, I should be able to answer all of questions concerning copyright to my friends (and, in later, professional life, also to my clients). The thesis is thematically divided into seven chapters. The first chapter is introductory and outlines all the content, which is to be dealt with in latter text. It attempts to define the position of copyright in the Czech legal system. Chapter Two focuses on the grounds of contractual techniques and the way of their implementation in the basic civil codex. Furthermore, attention is paid to differences between commercial and civil law, which might be crucial for some side questions of copyright contracts. In Chapter Three, there is the conception and approach of Czech legislature to copyright described. The dichotomy between personal and property rights of authors is explained as well as the nature of...

Intermediality in Modern Literature
Michlová, Lucie ; Pokorný, Martin (advisor) ; Bílek, Petr (referee)
The thesis outlines one type of intermediality in literature, musical composition transformed into the structure of the modern novel. The theme is based on the philosophical and aesthetic ideas of the sovereign status of music within the other arts. The relationship between literature and music is described on the basis of this specific status. In the sphere of these various relations, attention is paid to the connection between musical composition and the composition of a novel (the manifestation of musical composition in a novel is named here as the musicality of literature). In the central part of the thesis there are demonstrated the possibilities of application of musical compositional devices in a novel through an analysis of three works (The Counterfeiters by André Gide, Point Counter Point by Aldous Huxley and Tonio Kröger by Thomas Mann). These musical compositional devices are: multiple melodic lines, musical cyclical forms and a leitmotif.

Practice of rejection and forbidding. Manuscript of Jiří Kolář's "Prométheova játra" as an object of the prosecution in 1953 and ban on it in 1969.
Suk, Marek ; Pullmann, Michal (advisor) ; Randák, Jan (referee)
In my BA thesis I deal with manuscript called Liver of Prometheus (Prométheova játra) and it's author Jiří Kolář. I focus on the political dimension of this document found as the evidence of author's enmity to the comunistic regime following February 1948. I am not following the artistic significance of the text. In first chapter I outline the status of Jiří Kolář in literature after year 1945. In the second chapter I put in contrast Liver of Prometheus and stalinistic poems. I want to emphasize differencies in grasp of reality between Jiří Kolář and the poets devoted to the comunistic regime. In the most important third chapter I focus on the case of poet Kolář arrested, investigated and judged for writting subversive document. During the reconstruction I was working with the investigation protocol against Jiří Kolář, which has not yet been interpretated. I studied it through and I found new informations about the topic that had been interpretated manytimes before in cultural and artistic context. Than I answered these questions: what was happening when the police had found the document, what were its plans, when it had identified the author, how did the investigation look like, what question did the investigator ask, how did Kolář react, what defense strategy did he choose during the interrogations...

Agency employment
Páleníková, Markéta ; Vysokajová, Margerita (advisor) ; Štangová, Věra (referee)
- Agency employment The name of my diploma thesis is the agency employment. Nowadays, the institute of agency employment is a widespread phenomenon on the labour market. It is a very popular institution for employees as well as for employers, which is being changed under the demand of society needs and according to valid legislation. I have chosen this topic due to its timeliness and flexibility with which the agency employment reacts to the growing unemployment rate. Since the capacity of the agency employment is very vast, this diploma thesis aims to approach the fundamental issues and concepts relating to it. The thesis is divided into 6 chapters dealing with different aspects of agency employment. The first chapter provides the basic notions of agency employment, defines key terms associated to it. The second chapter focuses on the historical development of agency employment. It also outlines the view of international adjustment of agency employment, gives a short excursion into European legislation and provides an approach of the valid legislation in the Czech Republic. The main institution that is in charge of agency employment is an agency of labour; therefore the third chapter is dedicated to the institution of agency of labour. This chapter specifies its position with respect to the...

Differentiation of characters in translated TV series
Matocha, Čeněk ; Jettmarová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Josek, Jiří (referee)
In my thesis I compare the Czech dubbed version of an American TV series with its original version and explore the differences in predisposition for viewers' concretization of social and ethnic background of the characters. In the beginning of the theoretical part I present basic information about The Nanny (Czech: Chůva k pohledání), the sitcom I chose to analyze in the empirical part of my thesis. I then proceed to sum up some basic ideas relevant to my task, especially a number of observations about the theory of audiovisual texts and their translation, the practice of dubbing in the Czech Republic, and specific features of sitcom as a subgenre of the TV series genre. Then I describe the Character Genesis model by Jiří Levý, the concept of Stylistic Equivalence and Shifts of Expression by Anton Popovič, and the System of Expression by František Miko. These are the cornerstones of my analytical model, which I use in the empirical part of my thesis. In the end of the theoretical part I outline the language situation of English and Czech and attempt to present an inventory of linguistic structures that can indicate the social and ethnic background of the person that uses them. In the empirical part I first present and describe my analytical model, define social background and ethnic background as aspects of...

Clause order in contemporary Czech
Chudobová, Martina ; Lehečková, Eva (advisor) ; Zikánová, Šárka (referee)
My thesis deals with the word order in the contemporary Czech language. The aim is to discover the principles that control the clause order within sentences and to find out to what extent the position of the main and subordinate clauses is fixed. The first section summarizes the work of Czech and Slovak linguists and introduces the principles that apply to the clause order in particular sentences. It defines types of sentences with fixed, usual and loose order. At the end of this part there is an overview of the positions of different types of clauses, which became the springboard for the empirical part. The second section deals with the clause order of selected subordinate sentences. I have chosen a representative sample of connecting expressions. Using materials of the Czech National Corpus I try to outline the contemporary Czech clause order of the most frequent types of clauses following these expressions.

Employment Services for Former Substance Users in the Czech Republic in Comparison with Similar Services in Scotland and Austria
Veis, Štěpán ; Kocianová, Renata (advisor) ; Kopecký, Martin (referee)
The diploma thesis "Employment Services for Former Substance Users in the Czech Republic in Comparison with Similar Services in Scotland and Austria" discusses the problem of employment of people that used illegal drugs for some time in their lives and now abstain. To get a job and keep it is fundamental for them to be able to prosper in newly started life. Former substance users are characterized with respect to their position in the labour market and the need of social reintegration. Their employability in the Czech labour market is given from the point of view of the clients and workers of the treatment facilities, and from the point of view of potential employers. The possibilities of employment services offered to former substance users are then shown by three projects, i.e. Czech Work and Social Agency of SANANIM, o. s., Scottish Addiction Workers' Training Programme, carried out by Scottish Drugs Forum, and Austrian social firm Fix und Fertig, a branch of Verein Wiener Sozialprojekte. The projects are compared as to their approaches to the problem of employability, basic parameters that employment services offered to the former substance users should take into account are defined, and finally, the possibilities of development of these services in the Czech Republic are outlined.

Municipal administration and offices in the Middle Elbe region during the Thirty Years' War
Ďurčanský, Marek ; Hojda, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Čornejová, Ivana (referee) ; Pešek, Jiří (referee)
The operation of municipal offices and municipal administration in general was not a too popular topic in Czech historiography. Even this aspect of the life of Czech towns was strongly influenced by the persecution of Czech estates after the battle on the White Mountain and following processes with the gravity centre in the third decade of the 17th century, as well as by the direct and indirect consequences of military actions. Research in such area can also enrich our knowledge of many aspects of contemporary city life and contribute to a better explanation of such consequential phenomena as emigration and recatholicization. The municipal councils and municipal offices can often be named as nervus rerum in these circumstances. To elaborate the problems of military influences on administration in the times of the Thirty Years' War fully is not possible without more detailed studies about the situation of particular municipal offices. This kind of research would enable us to compare several regions. But there is a lack of such studies. The way out can be found by using proper surveys of the situation of several towns. Such probes would outline basic tendencies and phenomena, or the key questions for the subsequent research, such as: a) the extent and structure of the bodies of municipal administration and...
