Cooperative learning in the teaching of foreign language

This work is focused on cooperative learning in foreign language teaching. It brings knowledge about cooperative learning, about methods of didactics in foreign language and their suitability for using cooperative learning. It deals with the news that appeared in cooperative learning in a foreign language teaching. The research that is part of this work was qualitative and it was completed by quantitative research, too. The aim of the research was to understand the teachers' point of view and their opinion on cooperative learning in foreign language teaching. The outcome is finding teachers' attitude to cooperative learning in foreign language teaching and their attitude to including this kind of teaching in real teaching. Didactics of specific languages - comparison of teaching Czech and Korean

In my bachelor's work I would like to talk about didactics of specific languages, meaning Czech and Korean. I would like to show development of these languages and point out their differences. From general didactics, which shows principles of these languages, I would like to get to differences between Czech and Korean languages in terms of learning. Mnemonic in Teaching Adults a Foreign Language

The aim of this thesis is to analyse a foreign language teaching regarding the use of mnemonics as special procedures which lead to memorize the curriculum. The thesis deals with types and phases of the memory and with the process of forgetting. It defines the term learning, describes learning styles and characterizes aspects of effective learning. Subsequently the thesis is concerned with the procedures for consolidation of information in the memory, the attributes of effective revision and above all the mnemonic procedures. The attention is payed to principles, types and effectiveness of mnemonics and their implementation into the foreign language teaching. The next part deals with the aspects of andragogical didactics, their specific application and with androdidactic principles. Afterwards the thesis pursues the qualitative research whose aim was to analyse the use of mnemonics within the foreign language teaching. It is based on observation method in courses for adults at two language schools.
Phraseology and its Applicability in Foreign Languages Teaching and Learning

This thesis is concerned with phraseology and its intertwining with didactics of foreign languages. The practical part consists of the analysis of a contemporary situation in didactics of foreign languages, particularly the utilization of idioms. Further, the frequency of using proverbs and other set phrases in modern textbooks for teaching foreign languages (namely German and Russian) is analysed. Reflecting the Needs of the Students with Specific Learning Disabilities in TEFL

The specific learning disabilities with the primary focus on dyslexia as one of the special educational need are characterised in the thesis. The theoretical part provides thorough clarification of the individual disabilities as well as the enumeration and explanation of the re- educational approaches towards the specific learning difficulties aimed at the process of teaching English as a foreign language. The qualitative research conducted on the second stage of the basic school constitutes the empirical part of the thesis. The major aim of tracing the needs of the learners with dyslexia was achieved by combining the results of the analysis of the textbooks and the self-created worksheets, observations from the lessons and the interviews with the participants. The main research question, discussing the degree of appropriateness and suitability of the created material in opposition to the regularly used textbooks, was answered in favour of the designed worksheets. Moreover, the thesis provides well-structured and comprehensive summary of the recommendations to enhance the learning process of the learners with dyslexia. Interpreting activities in Foreign Language Teaching

(in English): The thesis describes how has translation been used in foreign language teaching, which is closely associated with the attitude towards the use of a first language during a second language lesson. In particular, it focuses on translation exercises that use interpreting as the main objective, and pre-translation exercises that use individual skills needed during the interpreting process. The aim of the present work is to demonstrate that these methods can be useful in different types and levels of courses (interpreting as a method) and it does not have to be limited on the education of future interpreters (interpreting as the main objective). The practical part outlines the current situation in some institution in Prague which specialize in adult teaching.
Possibilities and boundaries of using CLIL method in Czech schools

The diploma thesis deals with an innovative method CLIL, which combines the teaching of subject matter with the teaching of a foreign language. The aim of the work is to use action research to verify the possibilities of applying CLIL in first class of chosen state primary school. The action research is a suitable tool to implement a new approach and contributes to improvement of the quality of teaching. The research is focused on the verification of different supporting strategies to create a set of functional scaffolding techniques, which help first graders to overcome the language barriers and achieve the learning objectives. The core of this thesis consists of detailed lesson plans and reflections, in which the used activities and scaffolding are analysed in terms of efficiency. The final part of the thesis includes several recommendations for practice from the perspective of the possibilities and boundaries of using CLIL method in Czech state schools. The research confirmed that the language level of pupils is not a necessary condition of teaching through CLIL and therefore it is possible to use CLIL from first class of primary school. Teaching Foreign Languages at Primary School

The dissertation deals with foreign language teaching methods at the Primary School in the Czech, English and German environment. It includes the summary of the present basic knowledge about the foreign language teaching methods generally both in the Czech, English and German environment. Subsequently there has been presented and analysed the real use of foreign language teaching methods at the Czech Primary School at present. In conclusion there has been drawn further suggestion for a possible appropriate future development of the foreign language teaching methods at the Czech Primary School based on the research too.
Active working in terms of movement as one of the factors influencing a foreign language learning

The Master Thesis is focused on summarizing of theoretical pieces of knowledge in the process of learning and teaching in an elementary school (the second stage according to Czech educational system). The thesis is also concerned about the role of locomotion in this process as well as the usage of movement activities in a foreign language teaching process. Theoretical resources were verified by the research investigation and a pedagogical experiment which proved a positive influence of a motion to the effectiveness of teaching in a particular research group. In compliance with the gathered information there was a file of various activities created, which offers methodical and didactic description of those activities and game. These are suitable for the usage of movement activities during the teaching of German language on the elementary schools. This activity file should inspire all German language teachers.
Application of CLIL in Primary Education

The diploma thesis is concentrated on CLIL, an innovative method of teaching. It integrates the content and the language learning. The aim of this work is to find out how CLIL is actually realized at primary schools and discover the possibilities and the limits of this method. The theoretical part of this work is based on the literature and it summarizes the main characteristic of Content and Language Integrated Learning. The practical part of this diploma thesis is an outcome of qualitative research. As the methods of research I used interviews with teachers, observations, a realization and a following reflection of a lesson which was planned and based on the principles of CLIL. The result of this work is the analysis of the CLIL lessons in primary education and the analysis of the possibilities and the limits of this method.
