Švejstilová, Michaela ; Prahl, Roman (advisor) ; Rakušanová, Marie (referee)
This work analyses the art journal "Dílo", published monthly by the "Jednota umělců výtvarných" society. The work focuses on the time period between 1902 and 1914. Based on the examination of the annual editions, this study characterizes the journal in general and presents its focus and main themes covered by the individual issues. The art scene around the journal is portrayed as well. The analysis of the journal is divided into three chronological time periods; the same form of analysis and discussion is followed in order to allow the comparison of individual sections. The thesis positions the journal into a historical, cultural and social context while describing other art journals, art societies or short author's presentations for other journals. The relation between "Dílo" and the journal "Volné směry" published by the art society "Mánes" is briefly encompassed as well, yet this theme is not the official subject examined in this bachelor thesis. Presenting the first analysis of "Dílo" (in the years 1902 - 1914), the significant art journal from the beginning of 20th century, the primary sources are the subject of examination.
