Cílem disertační práce je vytvořit monografii o životě, působení a díle pražského hudebního skladatele Johanna Antona Koželucha (1738-1814). První díl práce nejprve sleduje skladatelovu životní a profesní dráhu, všímá si zázemí a postavení, které ovlivňovalo jeho tvorbu či kompoziční odkaz. Závěr prvního dílu je věnován vybraným aspektům jeho tvorby, která je hodnocena na základě srovnání s dobovým hudebním kontextem. Druhý díl disertační práce obsahuje tematický katalog skladeb Johanna Antona Koželucha. Na základě muzikologického bádání je nesporné, že Johann Anton Koželuch patří k nejvýznamnějším osobnostem českého hudebního života druhé poloviny osmnáctého a počátku devatenáctého století a jeho odkaz jistě přesahuje i hranice této země. Tato disertační práce přináší nové poznatky k hudební historii nejen české, ale i středoevropské. The aim of the dissertation is to create a monograph on the life and work of the Prague-based composer Johann Anton Koželuch (1738-1814). The first part follows the composer's journey through life and professional career, noting the background and the position that influenced his work and composition legacy. The conclusion of the first part is devoted to selected aspects of his work which is compared and contrasted with the period musical context. The second part of the dissertation contains a thematic catalogue of compositions by Johann Anton Koželuch. On the basis of musicological research it is incontestable that Johann Anton Koželuch ranks among the most important personalities of Bohemian musical life in the second half of the eighteenth and the first half of the nineteenth century and his legacy goes beyond the borders of this country. The dissertation points towards new findings about music history not only in Bohemia, but also across Central Europe.
