Measurement and prediction of the transport properties of natural gases
Čapla, L. ; Buryan, P. ; Pátek, Jaroslav ; Klomfar, Jaroslav
Measurements of the thermal conductivity of two samples of natural gases performed with a transient hot-wire apparatus are reported. The prediction method for the thermal conductivity of gas mixtures suggested by Stiel and Thodos is tested against the obtained experimental data. The deviations of the experimental thermal conductivities form their calculated values lie within the band from ?2% to 2.5% in the temperature and pressure region relevant for natural gas transport.
Accuracy assessment of the prediction scheme for the thermal conductivity of natural gases
Čapla, L. ; Buryan, P. ; Pátek, Jaroslav ; Klomfar, Jaroslav ; Rottner, M.
The accuracy of the scheme for prediction of the thermal conductivity of multicomponent gas mixtures by Stiel and Thodos is assessed by comparison with the experimental data obtained on natural gases of the Norwegian a Russian type. At pressures used in high pressure pipelines and systems for natural gas transport and distribution, the relative deviation of the calculated values from the experimental ones lie within the band from ?2% to 2.5%.
Thermal conductivity measurements on two samples of natural gas
Pátek, Jaroslav ; Klomfar, Jaroslav ; Čapla, L. ; Buryan, P. ; Rottner, M.
Transient hot-wire method for thermal conductivity measurement and apparatus based on this method are described. Results of themal conductivity measurements on two samples of natural gas are presented.
Prediction of the transport properties of multicomponent dense gas mixtures
Pátek, Jaroslav ; Klomfar, Jaroslav
An implementation of the Thorne-Enskog equation for the evaluation of the thermal conductivity and viscosity of high-density fluid mixture is presented. The method is based upon the rigid-sphere model of the fluid mixture suitably interpreted to apply real fluids. The procedure requires the knowledge of the transport properties of the pure component gases at igh density, the zero-density values of the transport properties both for the pure components and for their binary mixtures.
Economic aspects of potential changes of Russian natural gas supply routes to the European Union
Holanová, Tereza ; Němcová, Ingeborg (advisor) ; Horák, Jiří (referee)
Natural gas plays a significant role in Europe's energy consumption. Nine EU countries are net importers of gas, six states buy the commodity from a single supplier. Some EU member states experienced how complicated can a shortage of natural gas be in 2006, 2007 and especially in January 2009 when supplies from Russia were interrupted. As a consequence the European Union began to talk about diversification. There are several scenarios how to increase energy security of the EU. My thesis deals with these scenarios in terms of their price, additional cost and probability.
The Role of the Liquefied Natural Gas in the World Economy
Hričková, Michaela ; Kašpar, Václav (advisor) ; Vošta, Milan (referee)
The Bachelor thesis' focus is on the role and importance of the liquefied natural gas as a tradable commodity and a way of transporting natural gas. The first part of the thesis contains an analysis of the current state of the world natural gas market including factors influencing said market and the pattern of localisation of natural gas fields in the world. The second part deals with the specific features of LNG and its production and transportation issues. The last part analyses the position of LNG in the world energy mix and the localisation of exporting and importing LNG facilities around the world.
International Political and Economic Aspect of Russian Natural Gas
Katolická, Sylvie ; Vošta, Milan (advisor) ; Kašpar, Václav (referee)
The master thesis analyzes the current situation in the Russian gas industry and outlines the outlook for 2020 with regard to the interaction of internal and external factors. Efforts were made to determine the extent of global financial crisis on Russian gas industry. Master thesis also focuses on the question whether the Russian economy will be deepen on revenues from oil and natural gas export in 2020 more than at the beginning of 21st century. The aim of this thesis is to highlight the close link between economic and political interests of Russia in energy cooperation.
Energy security of the CR and EU in context of the foreign relations with Russia
Antonova, Oksana ; Abrhám, Josef (advisor) ; Jeníček, Vladimír (referee)
This diploma thesis dissertates about energy security of the European Union and the Czech Republic in the context of the foreign relations with Russia. It is focused on Russia as the biggest supplier of energy resources to the fore mentioned regions. Energy dependence of EU and the Czech Republic on Russia exceeds 50 %. This dependency is inevitable and is caused by the insufficiency of EU's and Czech Republic's own resources and above all it is very dangerous because of Russia's frequent nondemocratic behavior. The gap in demand of energy resources cannot be covered even by alternative energy recourses, which are in this thesis divided into renewable recourses and nuclear energy.
The changes in the localization of the extractive industry and the political consequences.
Novosadová, Monika ; Vošta, Milan (advisor) ; Kašpar, Václav (referee)
The bachelor thesis analyzes the global changes in the territorial structure of the extraction of the mineral resources, especially the energy resources and less some precious metals and diamonds and related political consequences. This bachelor thesis describes also the importance of these resources for human society and their deposits. There are also outlined possible future development of the extraction of these resources. The first chapter illustrates general characteristic of the extractive industry. It introduces the ranking of the extractive industry, main mining regions and the biggest producers of some minerals. The second chapter closely presents energy resources, i. e. mining of energy resources, their deposits, their usage and possible future developments. The third chapter focuses on the mineral resources, i. e. their extraction, deposits, usage and possible future trends. The fourth chapter introduces the political consequences related with global changes in the territorial structure of the extraction of the mineral resources.
European Union's dependence on imports of energy resources from Russia
Pavlíková, Olga ; Stuchlíková, Zuzana (advisor) ; Sudliankou, Aliaksandr (referee)
Gas Crisis in 2006 and especially in January 2009 showed the need of diversification of the energy routes to the European Union, in a case that a gas pipeline to Ukraine is cut off, most of the European Union's Member States will suffer from the lack of gas. The priority is not to reduce dependence on Russia but it is the consolidation of relations which is beneficial to both parties because the relationship is reciprocal rather than unilateral. To strengthen the energy security of the European Union there is a number of projects - new pipelines (Nord Stream, South Stream, Nabucco), and the import of LNG is being improved.
