Analysis of corporate social responsibility in energy industry

Master's Thesis deals with issue of corporate social responsibility in the energy industry. The work is divided into four chapters. In the first one author describes basic concepts related to this issue, focusing on the current understanding of corporate social responsibility from a global and European perspective and of course from the perspective of the Czech Republic. Criticism, barries and the future of CSR are not missing as well. The second and the third chapter is dedicated to a detailed analysis of CSR in an example of global and regional company from the energy industry. Focus is on economic, social and environmental pillars of corporate social responsibility, together with the strategic objectives and innovation. Last fourth chapter compares the global and the regional energy company based on the tripple bottom line of the CSR and finally, strategy of the global and regional representative is confronted with a reality.
Analýza společenské odpovědnosti firem v nejvýznamějších ICT společnostech z úhlu pohledu Green IT

This thesis is based on the concept of corporate social responsibility in world class ICT companies. This relatively new way of managing business became very popular among big corporations which are trying to reduce their environmental footprint while following the path of sustainable development. The aim of this study is to prove the importance of Green IT in the current dynamically developing world of ICT, and to explore the area of sustainability from the Green IT perspective. That is why three main areas are defined: sustainable development, corporate social responsibility and Green IT. The first part of the thesis covers interconnectivity between those terms. The next part represents the process of launching green initiatives into a corporate business model. It describes all the necessary steps of implementation, especially showing the important legislative aspects which help to prevent many potential issues. These practices are based on the MMDIS methodology and its conceptual Model of Integration. Another target of this thesis is to define the leading ICT vendors from all the perspectives -- as the most socially responsible company and the most preferable employer. The obtained results distinguish five companies from the others: Hewlett-Packard, Dell, IBM, Intel and Microsoft. The key achievement and added value of the thesis is the identification of the most problematic areas in the analyzed companies and presentation of their Green IT solution to prevent following issues.
Analysis of comapanies' aproach in Corporate Social Responsibility field in Czech Republic and Russian Federation

The diploma thesis is about the development of the concept of corporate social responsibility in Czech Republic and Russian Federation. It focuses on the companies' approach in different areas of corporate social responsibility. International standard ISO 26000 is used as framework for comparison. Empirical research "Corporate Social Responsibility. Public opinion" was done at the end of the thesis. Results of my research are compared with results of other studies carried out in Russia or Czech Republic for the last period.
The importance of CSR in direct selling

The work deals with the importance of Corporate social responsibility (CSR) in direct selling. The theoretical part characterises direct selling as a whole. It focuses on multilevel marketing, which is the most frequently used form of direct selling. Next it mentions characteristic features that help us disclose illegal systems. These systems just pose as multilevel marketing. This part also comprises statistics that provide an overview of the position of direct selling in the market. In large part it deals with consumer protection. To a certain extent, consumer protection might be guaranteed through CSR, the Code of ethics and a company's memberhip in direct selling associations. The practical part includes a case study. The subject of the study is the largest direct selling company -- Avon Product. The main goal of the work is to prove/disprove following hypothesisses: "While doing the shopping, customers give priority to other factors rather than CSR" and "While looking for a job, people (distributors) give priority to other factors rather than CSR". The hypothesisses will be evaluated on the basis of questionnaire survey, which has a quantitative and qualitative part.
The issue of regulation of transnational corporations

The bachelor thesis deals with the regulation of transnational corporations. The aim is to assess the challenges of multinational companies, their regulation and possible interactions with national states. The theoretical part of the thesis is focused on general characteristics of multinational companies and one of the ways of their regulation, corporate social responsibility (CSR). In the practical part of the thesis is described on a concrete example of the activity of the oil company Royal Dutch Shell in Nigeria of how transnational corporations influence national states. If they strengthen the state and bring him benefits, or are the instigator of destabilizing the economy and other issues.
Consumers´ perceptions of corporate social responsibility activities in retail sector

Main aim of this diploma thesis is to analyse consumers´ perceptions of corporate social responsibility activities in retail sector. The thesis is dividend into several chapters which include both theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part describe basic explanation, evaluation and implementation of CSR. The practical part includes consumer oriented research as well as some ideas concerning suggestions for consumers and companies.

The work is dedicated to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and its application in the hotel. Part of this work are interviews with representatives of hotels representing the CSR best practices and interviews with other selected subjects. Comparison of the information reflects the current status of implementation of CSR in hotel management in the Czech Republic. The output of work is created CSR matrix. According the principles of 3 BL management matrix visualizes the organization current level of Corporate Social Responsibility and the impact of its activities on a particular area of CSR.

The purpose of this thesis is determination of CSR goals and creation of CSR action plan. These activities can be inspiration for implementation of the concept of CSR in company. The result of thesis is listing of proposals of which can company choose, if it decided to by a social responsible company.
CSR Analysis in a Specific Company

Today, globalization, new technologies and modernization bring a lot of negative influences on our environment and society we live in, compared to the positive effects they create. And that is the reason why so many companies are embarking on socially beneficial goals, rather than profit. The aim of the diploma thesis is to explore and evaluate a concept of corporate social responsibility at Rossmann. In the theoretical part of the thesis I familiarize the reader with corporate social responsibility, dealing with the main characteristics of the concept and actual situation in the Czech republic. The second chapter deals with the characteristics of Rossmann and its activities in the CSR field. The practical part consists of two parts. The first one focuses on internal and external analysis of the company`s environment with regards to CSR. The second practical part is concerned with the empirical research, that was realized by the questionnaire investigation. Following the gained knowledge I will answer the fundamental question: How is the corporate social responsibility part of the company strategy? I will propose measures that will lead to increasing awareness of CSR and the advantages that using CSR brings to the company more effectively.
